The 2021 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab remains unchanged for the new model year. However, a new limited-run Tacoma Trail Edition model has been launched by Toyota, which is limited to 7000 units. The 2021 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab is available in 6 trims, with prices starting from $27,080 and ranging up to $46,880 for the top-of-the-line TRD Pro trim which gets you a number of unique features such as front dual-zone automatic climate control, Black TRD Pro leather-trimmed seats, shift knob, and floor mats.

Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard offerings across the 2021 Tacoma range, even with the base SR trim's 7.0-inch display. The Toyota Tacoma's rugged character is showcased in its interior as well, as it's neither the most spacious nor the most premium interiors when compared against rivals such as the Chevrolet Colorado Extended Cab, Ford F-150 SuperCrew, and GMC Sierra 1500 Double Cab

"Climate and media systems get big round knobs to match the Tacoma’s big round air vents, and the only things not covered in grey or black plastic in the cabin probably have a pulse and a driver’s license." - TheCarConnection

2021 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab Interior: Dimensions, Seating Comfort, and Features

With the approach Toyota took while they putting together the Toyota Tacoma Double Cab’s interiors, it is easy to see that sticking to the roots was a priority. All things considered; it doesn’t exactly work in the favor of Tacoma. When you look at the utilitarian layout and materials, they feel of a different, older era. Things don’t get all that better with the premium trims as well as they rely heavily on hard plastics and minimalistic materials.

The driver seat is power-adjustable and it is range is pleasantly great, but not the same can be said for the steering wheel and you would wish that it pulled out more. the rather tall cabin is another gripe, people on the shorter side will find themselves putting a little bit of extra effort while getting into the cabin. Coming to the controls, hard plastics are strewn all across the infotainment, but the controls themselves are simple and straightforward. The infotainment screen is now enlarged and the knobs and buttons have been refreshed as well.

Since this is a Double Cab, there are be two rows of seating. The front row is roomy as you have downward adjustability. The rear seats have bad legroom, which is not a pleasant characteristic of a crew cab truck.

The profile of the hood is shaped as so to provide great visibility, the ample side windows help as well. The glass is thick to cut down the wind noise, though the refinement is still quite bad considering the competition this truck has. The same can be said for the ride quality as well. Fortunately, the climate controls work well, both the heating and cooling work pretty efficiently.

Some of the most prominent interior features of the 2021 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab are:

  • Outside temperature display
  • Air conditioning
  • 3 USB ports
  • Fabric-trimmed seats
  • 4-way adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support
  • 4-way adjustable front passenger seat
  • Tilt/telescoping steering wheel

2021 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab Infotainment and its Features

As mentioned earlier, the infotainment screen of the Tacoma Double Cab has been enlarged and the whole system has been improved. Only the SR trim has a 7.0-inch display while all the other trims have an 8.0-inch display. Another good news in this department is the inclusion of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. This also directly improves the user experience significantly compared to the older infotainment systems.

Apart from the larger screens, the graphics with the maps and navigation have improved and are crisper. The responses are quicker, and choosing for the built-in navigation is an option well worth it, especially if you will be venturing into trails where mobile connectivity is scarce.

Some of the most notable infotainment features of the 2021 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab are listed below:

  • 7.0-inch display for the base trim (8.0-inch screen for premium trims)
  • Android Auto Compatibility
  • Apple CarPlay Compatibility
  • Amazon Alexa support
  • Bluetooth wireless audio streaming
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Amazon Alexa Compatibility
  • SiriusXM 3-month access

The notable optional features include

  • Wireless charging
  • USB ports
  • Built-in navigation
  • Wi-Fi Connect with 2 GB trial data for 3 months

"The Tacoma has more than enough volume in its five-foot or six-foot bed, but it disappoints with few storage cubbies and limited carry-on space inside." - Car and Driver

2021 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab Bed Length and interior Storage Spaces

The 2021 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab can be had either with a 6-foot-1-inch bed or a 5-foot bed. The truck bed of the Tacoma Double Cab is one of the best, the materials it is made of is just perfect but it has no Bedliner. There are many fixed and movable tie-downs; loading the truck is quite easy too as the tailgate opens quite low and the bedsides aren’t tall either.

As for the interior storage options, the Tacoma is loaded with a plethora of them inside. Yes, you have a ton of options but none of these spaces are large in size. The door pockets are just average and the cupholders on the center console are not too deep either. The glovebox is small for this segment too. The Tacoma offers everything that you might require, it's just that our expectations were slightly more from a “truck”.

Is the 2021 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab worth it?

Interiors may not be the strongest suit of the 2021 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab, so for anyone who finds the interiors the most important aspect of the truck, they would want to look elsewhere. The car performs great as a cargo hauler, but the rear row is best used for that only, passengers sitting there would feel their legs are being suffocated. So who is this truck for then; anyone for whom off-roading is a priority, they could do with the ruggedness of the truck want the fabled Toyota reliability and the host of driver-assist features available.

My wife's pathetic truck

Pros - Not much if I have to be honest

Cons - Well things like price/power/ground clearance

Toyota tacoma is underpowered and doesn't have what it takes to be called a good pickup After driving nearly 4 pickups in a row, my wife decided to go with this girlish and sissy truck which has nothing on display. Underpowered and short of good ground clearance. When hauling stuff in bed, the suspension looks like it won't take it The interiors are a little comfortable but I guess that's not what trucks are for. I have had a two fords and know what real pickups are supposed to do The design looks way more aggressive than it actually is under than skin Safety is going to be real problem if my wife decided to blast it on bad roads. Empty The pricing isn't justified at all counting all the pros it comes up with. NONE It felt good at first but looking at our purchase, I don't trust them anymore

The Reliable Japanese truck.

Pros - Valiant looks,Big stock wheels,Automatic Limited-Slip Differential

Cons - Floppy transmission, rear seat contraints

For those who are looking for a relaible daily truck. I mainly use this truck for rides through my farm and hauling medium sized farm equipments. This truck performs well on those slight offraod conditions providing me with adiquate power, comfort and allround visibility which were the only things I was looking forward in my truck. LED headlights,deck-mounted AC power outlet,Fiber-reinforced Composite inner bed, Not the most luxurious cabin out there but has that robust and built to last feeling that generally all Toyotas seem to have. The design of this truck strikes the balance for me as it has all the macho feel to it without the sence of being overdone at any point of the design like many of the new American trucks. Majority of the equipments are standard fitment. These cars do run strong for years. Pretty cheap for a full sizes truck They where so welcoming.

The rough road master.

Pros - Brawny front end ,spaceous bed, offroad uprated mecahnicals

Cons - Low interior quality, basic equipment list, mediodre seating comfort

The reliable work horse. It is my work truck helping me out carry all my contruction equipments on the its long bed.I did go for the two door as I was not looking forward to carry passengers, and would also double as a space to store smaller fragile equipments.equipments Charcoal grille with chrome surround, four adjustable tie-down,16" wheels The interior is designed to be utilitarian and that is what it is.Everyhting is laid out sensibly with tactile buttons.Though the drawback is a historic feeling cabin with limited rear ocupant legroom. Externally this truck is not as flashy as the other competitors and thus exudes a real sence of capability, ruggedness and the confidence to take it to the extreme without the fear of damaging your preciuos bodywork. You get most of the kit as on the higher trims. Its a Toyota. Had to pay close to 35k,but it gets the jb done. If you want a great sales rep that doesnt give you any BS. Ask for Eric Duffy great guy.
