The all-new Sienna is much improved and heavily refined over the old model, but stops short of leading the minivan class- CarAndDriver

The 2021 Toyota Sienna with an all-new platform gets a newly redesigned exterior with sharp styling features shared with its other Toyota siblings. The hybrid 2.5L 4-cylinder engine makes its debut this year as it replaces the potent V6 engine that powered the 2020 Sienna. Not just in the engine department, even the interior space has been increased and the XSE and Platinum trims join the lineup with a renewed feature list.

The new Sienna also gets Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 as standard adding industry-leading safety features. The true cost to own the 2021 Sienna is $9,180 including maintenance, repairs, fuel, taxes, and finance. Considering that the Sienna is driven for 15,000 miles annually on average, it should deliver 2.16 miles per dollar.

2021 Toyota Sienna hybrid Minivan Buying Advice

We would recommend buying the XLE trim from the 2021 Toyota Sienna lineup. 2021 Toyota Sienna hybrid Minivan Engine and Performance

6.6/10

The new drivetrain seems optimized for power transitions when you’re already in motion- Cars

The 2021 Toyota Sienna is now powered by a 2.5L DOHC 4-cylinder hybrid engine and has swapped the old 3.5L V6 which is why it is suspected to have a smoother and noiseless drive. The new engine produces 245 hp and still manages to tow the same 3,500 lbs of weight. An electronically-controlled CVT is used to power the front or all wheels depending on the configuration selected.

The 2021 Sienna plows overs bumps in the road. It's no sports car but given its weight and lower center of gravity, the body roll is well controlled. The steering is very light and feels like you could easily veer out of your lane. But on the highway, it becomes very twitchy and that can be pretty disconcerting. The Sienna is better through a corner than a three-row full-size SUV. It feels planted on the road and handles pretty decently.

Acceleration feels sluggish in the 2021 Sienna. The 2021 Sienna can accelerate from 0-60 MPH in 7.7 seconds and furthermore, it takes 15.8 seconds to finish the quarter-mile test. The top speed is recorded at 120 MPH. The 2021 Sienna is fitted with 12.9-inch rotors at the front and 12.2-inch rotors at the rear. These brakes help the Sienna stop from 60-0 MPH in 128 feet.

Chrysler’s Pacifica is the most powerful minivan available currently but the Honda Odyssey is the quickest minivan in this segment. The Kia Sedona is the cheapest offering in this competition and sits behind Honda. Meanwhile, due to less power, the Sienna comes last in both performance tests. Also, it is the only minivan to come with a CVT and an optional AWD system.

The interior gets a similar transformation, highlighted by a horizontally oriented dash connected to a bridge-type center console. - Carsdirect

The 2021 Toyota Sienna can seat up to 8 people comfortably in the lower trims. The seating capacity reduces to 7 from the XLE trim onwards as they add captain chairs. The comfort level gradually increases as one climbs up the trim ladder with leather-trimmed heated and ventilated power front seats as standard. Cushioning and under-thigh support are great in the seats, which is perfect for long-distance travel. The steering wheel also gets heated and leather treatment on higher trims.

The second-row captain chairs can slide up to 25 inches giving ample amounts of legroom with reclining capability in the higher trims. This also allows easy entry to the third row. A cargo capacity of 33.5 cu-ft. is offered with all seats upright. Fold them and 75.2 cu-ft. of cargo space opens. Overall, a maximum of 101 cu-ft. of cargo space is available with second-row folded too.

Toyota claims that the frontal area was inspired by the Shinkansen Japanese Bullet Train, with the headlights stretched as if they've been "shaped by the wind"- Carbuzz

The 2021 Toyota Sienna exteriors have been redesigned completely for its new generation. The front grilles have been modified and for the XSE trim, a nice honeycomb grille design and 20-inch alloy wheels make it look sportier. Moving to the headlamps, a sharp and futuristic design powered by LEDs is observed. The 2021 Sienna hybrid sits 6.4 inches above the ground. This makes it easy to ride over rough terrains.

As observed from the side, it has got some serious character lines running all across its length. The rear also has a brawny-looking design and a well-shaped boot. Its 120.5-inch wheelbase reflects its spacious interior room. Overall, Toyota's designers have nailed the Sienna and proved that minivans could be more fun and decorative.

2021 Toyota Sienna vs 2021 Honda Odyssey

The Honda Odyssey is nearly $2,700 cheaper than the Toyota Sienna. Its powerful V6 engine produces 35 hp more than the Sienna. Hence, it has better performance stats. But when it comes to fuel economy, the Sienna is the ultimate leader.

Hybrid Sienna

Pros - "Great fuel economy Composed ride and handling Upscale interior with comfy seats"

Cons - "Limited highway passing power Rear seats limit cargo space"

4 door SUV The Toyota Sienna is a that can accommodate up to eight people. Its spacious interior and standard technology features make it a great option for families who need more interior space than an SUV would have. For the regular hybrid engine, fuel economy is expected to be 36 mpg.

Big Van

Pros - Space, quality interiors, very friendly controls

Cons - No cons

2021 Toyota Sienna One thing for sure about this van is the space, swift drive, a decent styling which actually makes it looks good to look at. I needed a big van as I have work that requires car like this, and it sure is worthy buy. It is safe and reliable, plus the good thing is cheap maintenance. Oh I like it.

Nice van, wrong trim

Pros - Quiet, comfortable, and spacious cabin, good driving dynamics

Cons - The interior design could be better, gas mileage is not good

Spend a little more and buy the upper trim The cargo is not the most spacious especially for a minivan. The seats are good and comfortable. The cabin is roomy and the controls are well laid out. I don’t think there is anything particularly wrong with the interior. And as far the styling is concerned, well, it’s a van and it sure looks like one. Toyota has tried its best to separate it from the crowd and in my opinion, it worked. I love the design and shape of the exterior which looks damn good. Maybe those illuminated sill plates would be a waste for such body lines and neat styling They had what we were looking for, exactly that.
