The new Toyota Camry Hybrid gets a starting window sticker price of $26,790 and goes all the way up to $30,140. For the present generation of Camry, Toyota has planned to go for Hybrid only. A weird choice but the options available are not complex anymore. Trims come with some standard equipment and the options are available too for some added cost.

Hybrid cars have been around in the market for a decade now. While some are just meh, others look like they have been brought from the future. So Another hybrid by Toyota? This one is more of a premium Hybrid.

Not a good looking car

Pros - Linear power delivery, permium interiors

Cons - The interiors and exterior design feels odd

The unsymmetrical design of dash was not good at all The camry may not look classy in most of the views. The front view which appears more or occupied more with the grille makes an odd approach and the side profile was considerably better. The interiors were the most disliking stuff, maybe the infotainment and the electronics were impressive with its response but the interior design having no symmetry makes it look very much out of the place. The functionality and stuff may be good but the appearance makes it bad.

Family friendly.

Pros - Top notch fuel economy, Spacious cabin, Roomy backseat

Cons - Noisy in operation,, poor steering

It is definitly a suggestable vehicle, The vehicle is very reliable. It has a bit numb steering. The CVT transmission enhances the noise levels along your way. Yet, what goes around positive is higher traction due to the use of AWD. It has 4 mode switch that enables you to select the mode of drive from Normal, EV, ECO and Sport. It is a good deal as fuel effecieny will pay you back in longer run. Inspite of comprising a battery, both cabin and cargo space is pretty good. It incorporates dual zone auto climate control with rear seat vents and mutistage heating of front seats for improving passenger comfort which is a very good features added by toyota for this price. The buying experience was fantastic, and Janelle was a pleasure to work with. Janelle was very responsive to my questions, even on her day off from the dealership.

Reviewing the all new Camry 2019

Pros - Good gas mileage for city and highway, sporty exterior look (the front grill gives it that sporty look which I like which is a new Camry upgrade), compatible with Apple Pay

Cons - Doesn't work with Android car play, slightly higher cost than other sedan competitors, it is not AWD.

The 2019 Toyota Camry is the best version yet, with sporty styling, great fuel economy and advanced driver assists as standard equipment. Great steering control, feels like you are in control, grips well to the ground when I tried driving in the snowing weathers, good traction tires. Wireless phone charger, looks like a sport and luxury midsize sedan car, the exterior looks so nice which I like (huge exterior upgrade), good gas mileage. Nicely design interior, seems well polished, easy for the driver to reach, seems balance all around, good trunk space. Sporty look, feels like a V6, Gives auto sensors, gives sensors when you are making lane changes, lets you know if you driving on the curb or about to hit a car and the car automatic brakes. Toyota is well known for long lasting quality. Their engines are great and I see myself driving this car for over 5 years. I got the SE, which is the mid class level. I think it has all the necessary options that I would use everyday such as heated seats, review camera, GPS, Apple car play, comfortable driving, nicely design interior, which is worth every penny. I wouldn't know

The Toyota Camry Hybrid comes with an inline four-cylinder engine which is helped by the electric motor to produce around 200 horsepower. Being a hybrid the car runs at electric power at lower speeds and the petrol engine kicks in when the power is required. Sure the car isn't the best one out there, but the Camry Hybrid Sedan just might be a perfect electric sedan at this price. Stay with us to the end and we'll tell you.

2017 Toyota Camry hybrid Sedan Engine and Performance

8.8/10

Powering the Camry Hybrid is the electric motor. But only the electric motor can't make 200+ horsepower in non-Tesla cars. So for additional power, a 2.5 liter in-line 4 cylinder engine is coupled with the electric motor, basically for fuel savings. So the Electric motor and petrol engine combined, make 200 horsepower in all the trim levels. This hybrid is a front-wheel drive and so the power is transmitted to the front wheels through the Continuously Variable-Speed Transmission.

All the Hybrids in this price range come with a four-cylinder engine coupled with an electric motor to save fuel at lower speeds. The power produced by these engines varies from 190 horsepower to 210 horsepower. And the Toyota Camry falls on the average range of that power. Camry produces the most torque out of its engine at 156 lb.-ft. All the hybrids in this price range by Hyundai Sonata come with a CVT transmission. Sonata comes with the 6-Speed automatic instead.

2017 Toyota Camry Hybrid Acceleration

The Toyota Camry Hybrid is quick, not quicker. Unfortunately, the electric motor in this hybrid isn't powerful enough for the sub-3 seconds 0-60 mph timings. Camry Hybrid can do 0-60 mph in 7.2 seconds. And that is for all the trims levels of Camry Hybrid. Other CVT-equipped hybrids do 0-60 mph in a similar time with Ford Fusion being 0.2 seconds slower. The Sonata Hybrid comes with a 6-Speed Automatic that does the 0-60 mph in a whole 8 seconds. Toyota Camry Hybrid gets the biggest engine here at 2.5 liters. Others get a 2.0-liter petrol engine.

Though the Ford Fusion hybrid could not establish its name in the 0-60 mph run, it made itself prominent in the quarter-mile. Being second only to the Honda Accord, it achieves it in a span of 12.9 secs. Also, the Ford Fusion beats all its rivals in the top speed segment where the car achieves a top speed of 155 mph whereas the most powerful rivals end up achieving 135 mph.

2017 Toyota Camry Hybrid Braking

The 11.7-inch front brakes and 11.1 inch rear brakes are good enough to make this car comes from 60 mph to a standstill in just 126 feet. That is similar to what an average midsize sedan performs. But the car lacks feedback. The brake paddle performs well to even the slightest push but there is the absence of feedback and that makes you feel disconnected from the road. Compared to the braking distance with other cars in the range and you will find it to be hovering around the 125 feet mark.

The Hyundai Sonata has brake rotors in the segment. It has 12-inches brake rotors in the front and 11.2 inches in the rear. It has a curb weight of 3497 lbs which makes it fall on the higher end of the segment. However, the impressive brakes present on the Hyundai Sonata do their job beautifully and gives the car a complete halt at just 121 ft making it the best in the segment.

2017 Toyota Camry Hybrid Ride and Handling

The 2017 Toyota Camry Hybrid Sedan is comfortable to ride. The suspension in the car works great to keep the car smooth on the road, with premium leather seats, you will have a great driving experience. Although the car lacks feedback. You can turn the steering wheel but you get a hard time keeping track of how much it turns. The same is with the paddles. On the turns the car feels sloppy, I wish it to be a little stiffer on the sharp turns. Despite all these facts, the car still feels great and fun to drive.

2017 Toyota Camry hybrid Sedan Fuel Economy

9.6/10

You knew that the big 2.5-liter engine in the Camry Hybrid is going to affect the fuel economy when compared to the 2.0-liter competition. The Camry Hybrid isn’t off by that much. The combined fuel mileage is just 2 mpg less than Sonata and Fusion Hybrids. While the Accord gives extra 8 miles combined for the same amount of fuel.

Toyota Camry Hybrid comes with a fuel capacity of 17 gallons. In terms of tank capacity, the Toyota Camry Hybrid ranks the highest with a tank capacity of 17.0 gallons, followed by the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid at 15.9 gallons. In Spite of having a lower tank capacity, the Honda Accord hybrid delivers an astonishing range because of a fuel-efficient engine.

2017 Toyota Camry hybrid Sedan Interior

9.1/10

The 2017 Toyota Camry Hybrid seats 5 people in it like every previous model. Two seats in the front including the driver and 3 in the rear. If the middle seat in the rear is unoccupied, one can pull out the cup holders along with the armrest from the middle. Seats are fabric in the basic trim level but upgrading to SE and above will get you the leather seats. The cabin is spacious in here. Legroom and headroom should not be an issue for even a taller than average American, even on the rear seats.

2017 Toyota Camry Hybrid Cargo Capacity

Because of the spacious cabin, the cargo gets a little space this time around but it still is similar to what other cars have. Camry gets a cargo space of 13.1 cubic feet. Sufficient for your more than regular luggage, in case you plan a long escape. This space should fit everything you wanted.

2017 Toyota Camry hybrid Sedan Exterior

9.9/10

Toyota Camry Hybrid comes with aggressive body styling with a big grille upfront to give it a mean look. The body lines extended to the rear to provide aerodynamics. The 2017 year model of the Toyota Camry gets the standard Halogen lights with Daytime Running LED lights. Maybe Toyota will go for LED as standard headlamps in the next year’s model.

The Headlamps come with Auto Delay off and dusk-sensing features. The sport-tuned suspension keeps the ride stiff in the car on corners and the chrome-tipped exhaust system makes sure only the best sound comes out of it. Eh, maybe not the last one. It isn’t meant to be a sports car so do not expect eargasm from that exhaust.

The 2017 Toyota Camry Hybrid comes with a regular wheelbase of 109.3 inches and that should be enough to make space for 5 in the cabin. Turns out the cabin is spacious in the car. So does it in competition. We will talk about it in detail in the interior section.

For the wheels, you get to choose from the 16-inch steel wheel and 17-inch alloy wheels with not much wheel design to choose from. 17-inch Alloy wheels are available in Graphite finish and Super Chrome finish. And to give the car a sporty look, the lip spoiler on the rear is just the cherry on the top. Some of the exterior features include:

2017 Toyota Camry hybrid Sedan Safety

The 2017 Toyota Camry Hybrid comes with all the necessary safety features. To stabilize the vehicle while running, it comes with features like Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, ABS, Electronic brake-force distribution, brake assist, and smart stop technology. 2017 Toyota Camry hybrid Sedan Competition

8.0/10

Toyota Camry Hybrid vs Hyundai Sonata Hybrid

The new Hyundai Sonata Hybrid is a bit cheaper than the Camry Hybrid. When taken only the petrol engine into consideration the Sonata makes 185 BHP compared to 178 BHP in Camry. But coupling with the electric motor changes the game with Camry now making 200 horsepower while the Sonata is at 193 horsepower. None of them is a champ when it comes to handling. I reckon, going with any one of them just gets the job done.

Toyota Camry Hybrid vs Ford Fusion Hybrid S

When the Ford Fusion Hybrid is put head-to-head against the Toyota Camry Hybrid, the Camry comes out to be supreme. Camry comes at an affordable price with better engine options, energetic performance, refined cabin, and incredible safety ratings. It seems clear that the Toyota Camry is definitely a better option here.

Toyota Camry Hybrid vs Honda Accord Hybrid

Comparing the Camry Hybrid with the Accord, the buyer will find the Accord to be cheap and with more features in it. Honda Accord is offered in a wide range of colors and the trim levels are more refined than the Camry. Also, the new Honda Accord Hybrid makes more power out of its engine and is as quick as Camry while coming at 2 lbs. lighter than Camry. I would have to say that the Honda Accord would have to be a better option here.

2017 Toyota Camry hybrid Sedan Final Verdict

Bottom line is that last year’s model of the current generation Camry Hybrid is not the best out there but you can't go wrong with it. The gas mileage you get is among the better ones out there and the cabin gets you the great space. The Toyota Camry Hybrid lacks the feedback and that will definitely upset many but the fun driving experience and amazing safety ratings will make up for it.
