The 2014 Toyota Camry manages to be a best-selling car in the midsize sedan segment. This Toyota sedan values practicality above all traits. Even though it lacks behind in performance, the MPG ratings are great, and its unquestionable reliability makes it a crowd favorite. The new Toyota Camry has also been well priced at a starting MSRP of $22,425 for the base L trim while the top-rack XLE V6 can climb up to $30,705.

The Camry is more of a point A to point B car that offers a comfortable travel experience with Toyota’s bulletproof reliability and cheap cost of ownership. Its engine manages to be economical despite being peppy. The department where it disappoints is driving, the steering wheel feedback is a healthy figure close to zero. This is resolved up to a certain level in the higher trims such as SE, which gets better suspensions.

No options remained but to sell it out

Pros - Rides comfortably and smooth, powerful enough for highways lanes, plenty of features

Cons - Dingy smell from AC

Moldy AC smell Brought this Camry brand new at nearly 30 grands for my wife. It will be an year for this car in just two weeks. The ac is throwing out air with dingy smell. Although my wife turned it off immidiately the smell was in the air. She opened the windows and got out. Was feeeling nauseatic and could do nothing but vomit. She hesitates to sit inside from then. Although I saw some videos and have got it fixed, nothing guarantees it won't happen again. As my wife says she won't use it again, have no choice but to sell it out. Nothing wrong with the dealership, but this dingy AC smell has been issues with many like us and there is a lawsuit going on. Question remains, when will Toyota take a stand?

Nature of the 2014 Toyota Camry SE

Pros - "•cassette player •color •size"

Cons - "•small legroom space in the backseat •no separators in the cup holders •slow moving seat recliners"

I truly believe that this Toyota is a smart purchase. It has proven reliability, comfort, and safety on many occasions. In addition, this is not my first good experience with a Toyota, and this further deepens my trust for the Toyota brand. Engine response is superb and handling is even better than that. It is safe and secure. All in all, it is a perfect family car. Just a few of the features I enjoy are- simple to understand controls, high gas mileage, and roomy inside space. As I have stated earlier, the inside of my car is very spacey and comfortable. The windows are spacious and provide good visibility. I do like the curves of my car and of course, I am biased. I do feel however that the backseat could use more legroom, and the trunk could have more depth rather than length. I can personally vouch for the safety of my vehicle. I was rammed on the driver’s side of my car last year and I came out of that scratch-free which was very surprising considering the impact. Very safe!! My Toyota has for the most part earned my trust in reliability. Even when the starter broke two years ago and my car was not there when I needed it the most, my car let out an unusual beeping in the few weeks leading up to this incident. While I didn’t see it at first, my car was doing its job and warning me of the danger. I personally do not believe in allowing myself to get into auto debt. I paid full in cash for my vehicle and am very content with the price I paid. The deal I got for my car was 2k cheaper than the suggested price on Kelley Blue Book. Unfortunately, this dealership was just trying to dupe me into a deal, in the words of this survey. However, I am excellent at wheeling and dealing, and I left the dealership with the price I demanded.

The car is powerful and speeds up quickly when needed and also gets decent number of miles for a gallon of gas Dashboard and mileage Comfortable seats and the ergonomics are really great Nice and sleek. Love the headlight shape that streches down to the ends of the fenders Nice and comfortable. Speeds up quickly and after so many years, don't feel feeble anywhere Yes. "The Camry remains a popular choice for midsize sedan buyers because of its reputation for reliability and comfort." -MotorTrend.Com

Revised just in the model year 2012, the 2014 Toyota Camry does not get any major upgrades this year. It carries forward the same two engine options while providing a smooth ride. The interior is well designed and provides considerable spacing to all the passengers. All this makes the Camry a top-ranking midsize sedan among the likes of Hyundai Sonata and Ford Fusion.

Toyota being the brilliant car manufacturer that they are have brought out 6 different trims of the 2014 Camry to serve the wide requirements of their customers. With higher trims, there isn’t a gaping price difference but rather justifiable premiums for the additional features they offer, and they do.

2014 Toyota Camry Buying Advice

If you can let the bigger wheels slide by you with ease the LE trim sounds like the best deal. It offers all the extra bits to make you feel good about your choice of purchase and the price hike is the bare minimum. Going for the higher trims would add more comfort as well as performance equipment, which might not be the most important for your purchase.

"The most significant turnoff for some people will be in the way that the Camry drives. Although the ride quality is smooth, the driving experience overall feels rather disconnected and numb." -Edmunds.Com

The 2014 Camry is offered with 2 gas-only engine options. The base engine is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder producing 178 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque. The next one is a more powerful 3.5-liter V6 engine that makes 268 hp of power and 248 lb-ft of torque.

Both engines, irrespective of their power outputs, are capable of offering enough grunt for a commuter. Lastly, there's the Toyota Camry Hybrid which gets the same 2.5L I4 but in assistance with an electric motor. It is rated to return an EPA-estimated 39 mpg combined.

Among rivals, the most powerful in the lot is the Hyundai Sonata with 192 hp of power and 179 lb-ft of torque. However, the Toyota follows with its 178hp four-cylinder motor and does a 0-60 mph run well within 8.4 seconds. But in most aspects, the Sonata easily leads the pack in terms of performance figures.

Mileage has been one of the strong suits of the Camry ever since its introduction and it continues in 2014 as well. The Camry returns 25 MPG in the city and 35 MPG on the highways. These figures are accompanied by quite the punchy engine and good comfort, which makes it a really great deal.

For city mileage, the Camry leads the pack with 25 mpg, while the rivals falter behind slightly. But once on the highway, the Hyundai Sonata matches the Camry for its fuel efficiency. Also, the bigger gas tank on the Sonata also gives it the benefit of covering a longer distance in a single refill.

2014 Toyota Camry Exterior

"Compared to many of the more curvaceous alternatives in the mid-size sedan segment, the Camry looks a little more angular, a little more upright." -TheCarConnection.Com

The Toyota Camry looks really simple in design, it easily blends into the traffic. The car comes in normal colors and doesn’t really make someone fall for it at first glance. The exterior is highly simplistic with a focus on maximizing space in the cabin, though it does feel a bit box-like on the get-go.

It received a complete redesign in 2012, but that largely kept the exterior dimension the same. It weighs just north of 3200 lbs and dimensionally it stays close to that of its competition. The light construction of this four-door is the reason for its easy to maneuver nature in the city.
