2012 Toyota Camry Price, Review, Ratings and Pictures

The Toyota Camry has remained a top-selling sedan in the midsize segment. Accordingly, Toyota has given its lineup of 2012 Camry a full redesign for its exterior and interior. But at first look, you might not even know it. However, nearly every piece of sheet metal, every element of the Camry's underbody structure, the suspension, and all the interior components is different in 2012.

Only the engines and transmissions have been carried over unchanged. So instead of trying to make the new Toyota Camry radically different, the carmaker essentially enhanced every component to make a better end result for core values like passenger comfort and safety. With this facelift, the 2012 Toyota Camry comes at a starting price of $22,055, which is $1,100 more than the outgoing model.

Got a bang onb deal

Pros - Interior quality and build, Refined performance, Enhanced Safety

Cons - I didn't find anything bad.

Everthing is nice - performance, interior, and safety I was set out to trade my 2007 Corolla for a 2012 Corolla, but found pretty interesting deals at the dealer. And here surprisingly came to my notice a worth grabbing deal of 2012 SE Camry Limited Edition in the end of winter sale. And I was like "Gosh!!!" I test drove it and found it to be much better than the Corolla in the performance aspects. The build quality and use of upscale interior materials make this one much better than Corolla. Plus the seating has good support and feel comfortable to be in. Moreover, the 10 airbags and plenty of safety features that came along make its value worth. Thus, I must say that I got a bang on deal. I spent a pleasant time here, and especially like the warm and wlecoming nature of folks. They are ready to help you out, and don't interrupt when you speak.

Owning an eight-year old Camry!

Pros - Above average comfort. Reliable engine. Includes modern tech.

Cons - Plain styling. No manual gearbox. Not much fun to drive.

Reliability and comfort! I'm a second owner to this '12 Camry and have driven over 80k miles on the car. The car has been mostly reliable throughout the time I have owned (having sold recently). Apart from the routine maintenance, I had a radiator leak once and AC cooling problem which was solved quite quickly. Although my car sported a V6 under the hood, it wasn't as pleasant to drive as a V6 should be. I really liked the comfort the Camry had to offer which is uncommon in it's class. Also, it had modern tech back in 2012 like bluetooth and blindspot monitor! It has been one of the most well-packaged family sedan I have owned! Jeremiah and Danielle were really exceptional here. They helped me with a no-fuss, easy trade-in deal for my new car. I traded this '12 Camry for a new one!

"Toyota has renewed this car like clockwork every five years, and the Camry has achieved an enviable position as the default mainstream sedan of choice-quiet, smooth, comfortable, reliable, and affordably priced." -CarAndDriver.Com

With its new design, the Toyota Camry looks to pose an even bigger threat to the likes of 2012 Ford Fusion, 2012 Volkswagen Passat, and 2012 Hyundai Sonata. While all these other sedans do fairly well to satisfy their buyers, none are quite as affordable, spacious, refined, and reliable as the Toyota Camry. It is a mix of these qualities that make it an ideal choice for families looking for the most ideal daily driver.

"With its stable handling and accurate steering, the front-wheel-drive 2012 Toyota Camry is a great midsize sedan for shoppers interested in a comfortable daily driver." -Cars.USNews.Com

The 2012 Toyota Camry features front-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic transmission, but there are two engine choices. Base Camrys are powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that produces 178 hp and 170 pound-feet of torque. This engine brought it from zero to 60 mph in 7.8 seconds, which makes it one of the quickest four-cylinder midsize sedans.

Optional is a 3.5-liter V6 that generates 268 hp and 248 lb-ft of torque. It hits 60 mph from 0 in 6.6 seconds, which is average for upgrade engines in this class. This engine comes with Dual VVT-i (Dual Variable Valve Timing-intelligent) technology, which controls valve timing on both the intake and exhaust camshafts for optimal performance and efficiency at all engine speeds.

But the Camry's strongest suit lies in the way it drives. It is easily one of the most refined cars one can find in the market today. The steering is precise and the car remains composed at all times. Even the cabin remains free of most vibrations and noises, and bumps are soaked up quite well. The improved quality of interior materials on the 2012 Camry should only add to the driver's experience behind the wheels.

Toyota has increased the torque-converter lockup range for the automatic transmission to help keep revs down. That, combined with a tremendous weight savings of 150 pounds or more across the model line, has added at least 1 mpg to every model. Four-cylinder models are now up to 25/35 mpg city/highway respectively, while mileage ratings for the Camry V-6 have increased mpg to 21/30 mpg, in that order.

It has a fuel economy of 21 mpg city 30 mpg highway, which is the best fuel economy for any current V6 midsize sedan. "The previous mismatch of poorly fitted hard plastic has been replaced with better construction and a more pleasing array of textures, trim and subtle decorative stitching." -Edmunds.Com

The overhauled cabin feels richer, if less consistent, than before. Dressed with stitched faux leather and a chrome-flanked, raised center panel, the dash has lots of upscale eye candy. The quality goes beyond sight alone the climate controls feel weightier and the gearshift crisper moving from Park to Drive. The Camry XLE loses its reclining backseat, but all trims gain a 60/40-split folding backseat. The redesign has also made the front A-pillars narrower for better visibility and the roofline has been tucked up and back just a tad for rear headroom.

The new model has received a new dashboard design, modified seat locations, redesigned seats, and "lean" door, pillar, and headliner trim too. Though the backseat is not as cavernous as Volkswagen Passat or Hyundai Sonata, it fits adults fine, with good headroom and a hump-free floor. Trunk volume measures 15.4 cubic feet, up from last year’s 15.0 cubic feet. If trunk space is high on your list, check out the Hyundai Sonata and Ford Fusion, as both cars offer north of 16 cubic feet.

Major interior features of the 2012 Toyota Camry are-

  • Cushy seat
  • Door panel controls
  • Crispy gear shifting
  • Premium Synthetic Seats

The new Camry's upgraded audio system also includes Entune, a suite of smartphone-connected services that includes features like the Bing search engine, Pandora streaming radio, real-time traffic, sports and stock information, and the ability to reserve movie tickets or a table at a restaurant on the go. We're especially fond of the Camry's new touchscreen interface and accompanying steering wheel controls, which makes operating your myriad radio and media player choices a snap.

Few key infotainment features of the 2012 Toyota Camry include-

  • Pandora streaming radio
  • New touchscreen interface
  • JBL sound system
  • HD Radio and satellite radio
  • Navigation system

The exterior expresses an "architectural statement through crisp, precise character lines, while a more strongly curved door cross-section and more defined rocker panel molding give the Camry a more expressive appearance." Upfront, anyone can easily spot the new headlamps with a more dynamic shape and a pronounced curvature of the main-beam unit merging into the bumper cover.
