The 2021 Tesla Model X SUV is a mid-size SUV that gives tough competition to the 2021 Audi e-Tron and the 2021Jaguar I-Pace. The Model X offers excellent features and standard functions like Advanced active safety technology Eight airbags, Electronic stability, Traction control, Four-wheel antilock disc brakes with an electronic parking brake, Acoustic front-row safety belt warning, Rollover crash sensor, Four LATCH attachments for child seat installations in 6-seat and 7-seat configurations, and Rear door child safety locks.

To keep things fresh for 2021, Tesla has given the 2021 Model X the same updates as the 2021 Model S. There's a new F1-style steering wheel and a redesigned infotainment unit. However, no changes have been made to its list of driver-assist tech and safety features. Prices of the 2021 Tesla Model X start at an MSRP of $83,190, and a new Plaid trim, costing $113,190, replaces the previously top-spec Performance model.

"The Model X also offers a Summon feature that allows the user to park or retrieve the SUV from tight spots while standing outside-a feature that seems gimmicky but proved necessary thanks to the silly top-hinged doors." Car And Driver

2021 Tesla Model X Safety Features Explained

The 2021 Tesla Model X is a full-size sedan with a Dual 3-Phase 4-Pole induction motor making 670 hp, providing outstanding performance and enhancing its safety. In terms of safety, the Tesla Model X gets the best and hi-tech safety features. Keeping safety as the priority, the Model X offers automatic emergency braking, collision avoidance, lane keep assistance, and many more standard features.

It makes its buyers feel safe by proving great features and standard functions like automated emergency braking, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, warning for front-row safety belt, Four LATCH attachments, Electronic stability, Eight airbags, Rollover crash sensor, Four-wheel antilock, Rear door child safety locks and many more making it an extremely safe car for the passengers. The 2021 Tesla Model X, however, is yet to undergo testing by the NHTSA and IIHS.

  • Autopilot: This feature detects a potential front or side collision with another vehicle or pedestrian within a certain distance. It gives a warning through the alarm and also has automatic emergency braking that detects objects that may clash with the car and apply the brakes.
  • Automatic Emergency Braking: Automatic emergency braking (AEB) systems help to detect a forthcoming forward crash with another vehicle in time to avoid the crash. This system immediately alerts the driver to take control to avoid the crash.
  • Summon: Tesla Summon system is one of the smart parking features, which enables a vehicle to leave a parking space and navigate around obstacles to its owner.
  • Anti-lock brakes: The anti-lock braking system (ABS) is a safety braking system used to prevent the wheels from locking up during emergency braking and maintains tractive contact with the road surface to avoid skidding and gives plenty of confidence to the driver.
  • Stability control: It is an active safety feature designed to reduce the number and severity of motor vehicle crashes that result from a loss of control. Stability Control provides traction and anti-skid support in cases of over-steering and under-steering.
  • Front and Side impact protection: For front and side crashes, Tesla has increased the side door strength, internal padding, and better seats can improve protection in side-impact crashes. Tesla’s structure is provided to keep the passengers and the battery pack safe. Tesla has these side intrusion beams or other protection within the door structure to keep the passengers and the battery pack safe.

  • Attention Assist - Tesla's Attention assists feature uses sensors mounted around the interior that scan the driver’s driving style and inputs. If the system detects that the driver is not attentive enough or if he is drowsy, it alerts the driver and may even ask the driver to pull over and take some rest. Mercedes was the first auto manufacturer to introduce a driver fatigue system.

  • Radar Cruise Control - This feature uses the camera/radar system mounted in the front of the car to scan for traffic ahead. It automatically maintains a safe pre-set distance from the car in front. It also steers the car to keep it safely in the lane. Drivers should keep in mind that it is not an autonomous driving system.
  • Active Blindspot Assist - The 2021 Tesla Model X is equipped with a blindspot detection system that uses an array of sensors mounted on either side of the vehicle to check for objects in the driver’s blind spot. It is very useful both in cities and on highways. It alerts the driver through a visual warning.

  • Lane Keep Assist - This safety technology uses the radar/camera system to scan the road for lane-line markings. If the radar detects that the vehicle is veering out of the lane, it will alert the driver. If the driver fails to take corrective actions in time, the system will also gently bring the car back in the center of the lane. This feature works only if the car drifts out of the lane without an indicator in that direction.

2021 Tesla Model X Safety Verdict

The 2021 Tesla Model X SUV has not yet been rated by the NHTSA and IIHS, whereas, the 2020 Tesla model X SUV received 5 stars from the NHTSA. So overall the buyers can rely on the Tesla Model X SUV in terms of safety, as it carries forward the same features from the previous models that received the highest ratings.

Just received the car

Pros - Design has improved significantly

Cons - None as far till now

Fantastic looks and impressive room Although I just got the car delivered, I wanted to share a few things. Firstly, the design has significantly improved especially at the front, and there is also a little more room in each seat this time. They are saying that the range has been increased but don't know. Otherwise the looks alone are enough for it. They delivered the car in a very short time and also offer a host of possible accessories.

The all-new Model X

Pros - Fast-charging capability. Fanatic accleration. Falcon doors.

Cons - Mediocre fit and finish. Bare bones interior.

Futuristic and so much better! Although the Long Range trim offers a better range, the extra motor on the Performance trim just makes everything more sweet with a witchcraft wizardry. Driving the Model X is just so satisfying with a balanced handling and insane performance level. Everything about the Model X is peculiar and stands out from the crowd stuff. Be it the flashy falcon doors or simple silhoutte exteriors. I love the way it looks from the outside. But it just feels too bare bones inside of the cabin. It feels as if there's just a massive, fussy touchscreen and nothing else on the dash. Even the fit and finish of the trim panels or doors don't feel very assuring but I'm hoping for the best. The fast charging system works like a charm be it at home or a public supercharger station! This definitley is the future and I absolutely love it! The entire experience was surely a memorable one. The Tesla experience sure has an edge over everyone else. Charles was a great guy and assisted me patiently through the entire process until delivery!
