The 2021 Tesla Model X has been exemplified as an electric SUV in the segment. Model X's expansive windshield/glass roof runs seamlessly from the hood up over the front-seat passengers for an uninterrupted outward view. Considering the price of the Model X, its cabin leaves us wanting. However, like a typical Tesla, Model X's technology is impressive. Some of the competitors including the 2021 Audi e-Tron Electric and the 2021 Jaguar I-Pace have upgraded the interiors recently. Tesla has not only updated the interiors of the Model S but the same interior design is applied to the new Model X. The Model X Plaid with 1,020 horsepower is also entering the 2021 Tesla model lineup.

In order to maintain its dominance, the 2021 Tesla Model X comes with a redesigned interior layout. The steering wheel now looks like the one in an F1 car while the infotainment unit has also been restyled. Otherwise, a new Plaid trim replaces the Performance model. Prices of the 2021 Tesla Model X Long Range start at an MSRP of $83,190. The 2021 Model X gets exactly similar interior and styling as the updated Model S. Inside, there is a 17-inch central screen, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and an 8-inch screen for the rear occupants. The yoke “steering wheel” of Model S makes an appearance in the Model X as well. Also, the Model X features touch-capacitive turn signal controls and two scroll wheels similar to the ones found in Model 3 and Model Y.

"The rest of the 2021 Model X interior is smartly designed, with six cupholders, a big center console, and up to five USB ports. Front seats are all-day comfortable, and the massive glass roof that extends to the windshield affords a panoramic view."  - The Car Connection

2021 Tesla Model X Interior: Dimensions, Seating Comfort, and Features

Quite similar to Tesla’s Model S, the interiors of the 2021 Tesla Model X are comfortable enough for its occupants and can get you into a relaxing mode as you sit in it. The Model X provides you with a five-seat configuration as a standard with a bench seat in the rear and power-adjustability with memory functions in the front. However, it can be configured into either a seven-seater setup or a six-seater configuration with captain seats in the middle row, depending upon the user's will or his/her fortune, frankly! It’s a popular opinion that spending a few extra bucks won’t at least hurt your back!

With both front seats ventilated and the rest of the seats heated, the car gets a further boost in the comfort level for all its passengers in both its rows. What brings a smile to the passengers’ faces is a pure black interior work lathered with buttonless stitching. Its finishing and the fit are an absolute delight to watch. Plus, it enhances the quality of the interiors tenfold. The seats in the car, as we already mentioned, are comfortable but it’s not just that; the seats are also well-adjusted in a manner that provides you with a perfect view of the outside.

Having a third-row availability along with offering a total of seven seats for its occupants gives an extra advantage to the 2021 Tesla Model X for being one of the roomiest electric cars as compared to its rivals. Moreover, the 2021 Model X offers the finest front row space in the competition with the highest head, shoulder, and legroom space to its front-row occupants. The second row is also spacious; however, the 2021 Audi e-Tron Electric offers a slightly better shoulder and legroom in its second row, measured at 57.2 inches and 39.1 inches respectively. Even with the availability of the third row, the tall guys might have to sacrifice their legs space a little and sit in a less-comfy position. Some of the notable interior features are:

  • Panoramic sunroof
  • 8-way power-adjustable front seats
  • Power tilt/telescopic steering column
  • Power liftgate rear cargo access
  • Remote keyless entry
  • Day-night auto-dimming rearview mirror

2021 Tesla Model X Infotainment and Technology Features

A quick and responsive 17.0-inch touchscreen with over-the-air updates is placed as a centerpiece in the 2021 Model X interior. Other than this, the Model X has adequate comfort and convenience features which represents leading-edge technology and luxury. The infotainment gives you an immersive experience within its 17-speaker audio system. The touchscreen handles most functions—including climate control and infotainment. Tesla doesn’t offer Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, but its alternatives are nicely integrated to stream entertainment.

And this is not it! The car has also been outfitted with Bluetooth, the Wi-Fi hotspot, USB ports, and navigation integration. If you are a non-electric car fan and just looking out to buy the 2021 Tesla Model X, then be ready to shift your allegiance. You’ll soon be Tesla’s fan! Some of the highlights of 2021 Tesla Model X’s infotainment system are as follows

  • 17-inch infotainment touchscreen display
  • Custom audio system featuring 17 speakers
  • Mobile App Remote Control
  • Bluetooth Hands-Free and Media Streaming
  • Two USB ports for media and power
  • XM satellite radio capability
  • Wi-Fi and Cellular Internet Capability
  • Voice Activated Controls

"Cargo capacity depends on the seating arrangement. Five-seat variants offer 81.2 cubic feet, seven-seat models have 76.5 cubic feet, and six-seat examples' cargo area measures 70.7 cubes. In all cases, the front trunk provides an additional 6.6 cubic feet of space." - MotorTrend

2021 Tesla Model X Cargo Capacity and Interior Storage Options

With a standard cargo capacity of 26.0 cu-ft and after split-folding the rear bench seats, the maximum cargo capacity can be extended up to a vast 87.8 cu-ft. to the fullest. But if a seven-seater configuration has opted, then the maximum cargo storage can be extended up to 76.5 cu-ft only. The six-seat configuration doesn't allow the captain's chairs to fold flat, so you only get 70.7 cubic feet of maximum cargo capacity.

The 2021 Audi e-Tron Electric offers the highest standard cargo storage with 28.5 cu-ft. Following its lead, the 2021 Tesla Model X provides the second-highest standard cargo storage. Still, with maximum cargo storage capacity, the Tesla Model X is unbeatable with its amusingly huge 87.8 cu-ft. of the area behind its first row seats.

There are various additional storage spaces provided in Tesla to make it convenient for the driver as well as the occupants to go on long drives or even be stuck in traffic. Some of the storage spaces that Tesla offers in its Model X are an illuminated glove box, center console storage area, all-door side-storage pockets, driver and passenger door bins, cargo area concealed storage, and front and rear cupholders.

2021 Tesla Model X Interior Verdict

The 2021 Tesla Model X lineup is orderable on Tesla’s configurator. The 2021 Model X starts at $83,190, and upgrade to the Plaid model for a third motor. Inside, the changes are much bigger - highlighted by a new steering wheel and the revised central multimedia screen. Tesla claims the new system is more powerful, and it allows for in-car gaming on par with today’s newest consoles. Though we wish for a shifter inside the cabin of Model X in a statement, Tesla says the move to this curious setup puts “the ultimate focus on driving: no stalks, no shifting.”

Just received the car

Pros - Design has improved significantly

Cons - None as far till now

Fantastic looks and impressive room Although I just got the car delivered, I wanted to share a few things. Firstly, the design has significantly improved especially at the front, and there is also a little more room in each seat this time. They are saying that the range has been increased but don't know. Otherwise the looks alone are enough for it. They delivered the car in a very short time and also offer a host of possible accessories.

The all-new Model X

Pros - Fast-charging capability. Fanatic accleration. Falcon doors.

Cons - Mediocre fit and finish. Bare bones interior.

Futuristic and so much better! Although the Long Range trim offers a better range, the extra motor on the Performance trim just makes everything more sweet with a witchcraft wizardry. Driving the Model X is just so satisfying with a balanced handling and insane performance level. Everything about the Model X is peculiar and stands out from the crowd stuff. Be it the flashy falcon doors or simple silhoutte exteriors. I love the way it looks from the outside. But it just feels too bare bones inside of the cabin. It feels as if there's just a massive, fussy touchscreen and nothing else on the dash. Even the fit and finish of the trim panels or doors don't feel very assuring but I'm hoping for the best. The fast charging system works like a charm be it at home or a public supercharger station! This definitley is the future and I absolutely love it! The entire experience was surely a memorable one. The Tesla experience sure has an edge over everyone else. Charles was a great guy and assisted me patiently through the entire process until delivery!
