At present there are no electric vehicles that can even come close to the power and feature the Tesla vehicles offer. Tesla’s “Autopilot” further sweetens the deal with real autonomous driving. The Model S sedan offers a driving range like no other and is immensely customizable according to your preference.

Quality check should have been a better at this price.

Pros - Seriously quick, futuristic cabin

Cons - Yellowing screen, quality issue, pricey car

Poor built! Frighteningly quick! Instantly fell for it the first time when the guy at the delaership took me for a ride. Was about to get an M5, but hell, 'take my money' was all that I had to say to the sales rep. The sensation is outstanding. The full vertical display looks very futuristic but in really is a bit confusing to use. But all is not good with this car; My car had the isuue of yellowing screen bezels, something with the dealership guys were a bit hesitant to replace. Also, I noticed a lot of fit and finish isuues with the car. The hood shut lines did not match with the ones on the fender. There is a bit of paint chipping off the lower potion of my rear bumper. This is not the type of built quality I expect from a car that cost me well north of 75 grand!

Self Piloting tesla

Pros - "Comfortable, quiet ride User-friendly touch screen"

Cons - Questionable reliability

Ride to hell It's the trouble getting in and out of the car, I've got one concern on a car. I'm not sure if the design will make it simpler. My neck slices the driver's seat belt. The back seat headrest must be adjustable or the back seats adjustable. In the back, there is more ventilation. Great cars for good prices, they do not use high pressure sales tactics or are pushy to make earn your business.

2016 Tesla Model S.

Pros - Strong performance. Abundant space. Free fast cahrger access.

Cons - Diminished range. Poor customer service. Poorly placed cup holders.

A decent Model S! Its been only few months since I got this 40k miles run Model S for a good price. I have been mostly happy with my choice now but don't know if the value's gonna plummet anytime soon. I really love the performance and lag-free acceleration the Teslas have to offer. This really makes everyday driving quite exciting. Also, there's abundance of space inside the sedan for storage as well as passenger comfort. But, the electric range on my Model S is certainly way off than what newer models would offer. Also, the fact that serevice centers are far off for me, towing the Teslas for even simple jobs seem a waste of time and money! I really wish there had been more service centers from Tesla to begin with. Also, these people do take a lot of time to fix up even small issues like switch changes, tire changes etc. Also, I was super bummed out when they said they do not hand out loaner cars!

The 2015 Tesla Model S sedan is all about efficiency and much more. With a variety of battery packs on offer combined with Tesla’s Supercharger network, the sedan is a benchmark in the EV industry and the automobile industry’s big-shots such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, etc. are diving deep into the EV technology to come up with a version of their own. As such, there are no direct rivals of the Model S even though there are some lower-priced plug-in EVs available on the market and of course, with a lesser range than the Model S.

2015 Tesla Model S electric Pricing and Features

8.0/10

The Tesla Model S comes in three trim levels with the base trim, 85, starts at $80,000. Right from its base trim, the sedan comes in a fully equipped form and comes with an RWD layout. The top of the line P85D comes with unchallenged power and torque figures for the price it is offered.

The trims are so carefully offered that you have to pick up one according to your needs without paying extra. You can add the Autopilot Convenience Features package for an extra $2,500 bucks that will add a host of features including Traffic-Aware Cruise Control, Lane Keeping w/Automatic Steering, Self-Parking, and Automatic High/Low Beam Headlights.

2015 Tesla Model S electric Engine and Performance

9.5/10

The Tesla Model S comes in two drivetrain configurations with the basic one being a rear-wheel-drive version where the rear axle is fitted with an electric motor. The 85D variant gets two electric motors, each for both front and rear axles, and generates a beefy 422 horsepower and 362lb-ft of torque. The power delivery is instant and can complete the 0-60mph dash within 4.4 seconds flat! The power is delivered in a linear manner and regardless of the driving situation, you’ll get all the power from the motors within seconds of flooring the accelerator.

The only worthy competitor it has is the Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid. Even though it is not an EV it offers comparable power figures as the Model S 85D but is still miles behind the ultimate P85D.

2015 Tesla Model S electric Fuel Economy

9.9/10

Electric vehicles are designed to save the environment while transporting humans and the Model S does that just gracefully. The 85D comes with an 85kWh battery and offers an unrivaled driving range of 270 miles on a single charge. The charge will deplete according to your usage but on average, you’ll be able to squeeze out an exceptional 95 miles within city driving conditions and the figure climbs to 106 miles.

The Porsche Panamera comes nowhere close to the Model S 85D in terms of fuel economy and has a measly 15 miles of all-electric range but an impressive 25 mpg of combined mileage if compared with other hybrid vehicles of its own class.

2015 Tesla Model S electric Interior

8.0/10

The only lacking aspect of the Model S is the interior. For the price it is offered, the interiors are not up to the mark or at par with luxury vehicles within the same price bracket. Apart from the Mercedes-Benz sourced window switches and driver controls, the rest of the cabin materials feel ordinary and could’ve been a lot better. The leather trims do hold up well in the long run and that’s about it.

2015 Tesla Model S electric Sedan Dashboard View

The seats offer decent comfort levels with more than adequate legroom for both the front and rear occupants. The front seats are nice and there’s nothing to complain about but other vehicles of the same price offer a lot better. There are two rear-facing seats at the trunk for kids with multipoint seat belts for kids but they are of a below-average size.

The Porsche Panamera excels in this department with a more plush and opulent interior along with a multitude of comfort features on offer. As compared to the Panamera, the Model S’ rear headroom is quite less and may pose a problem for taller passengers.

Infotainment

The infotainment system on the Tesla Model S 85D is nothing familiar. It sports a huge 17-inch touchscreen display that houses all the necessary controls of the car. A constant menu on the upper half of the screen displays most of the controls such as access to stereo, navigation, phone, Web browser, energy usage screen, and a calendar synced from the driver's phone.

2015 Tesla Model S electric Sedan Infotainment System

The lower left side of the screen houses the controls to alter the settings of the car itself like adjusting the air-suspension, steering controls, and altering the acceleration settings. The system incorporates some basic features such as:

  • 3g data connection
  • Voice command
  • Slacker app
  • Google maps and Google search
  • Bluetooth

2015 Tesla Model S electric Exterior

9.0/10

From the exterior, the Model S looks like a premium sedan with an efficient and aerodynamic design to improve overall battery efficiency. The design of the wheels resembles that of a turbine for aerodynamic efficiency. The front fascia looks quite premium with subtle chrome inserts and has no front grille due to the lack of an engine.

The headlamps look elegant with a strip of DRL running above it. Both the headlights and the taillights are fully LED units and do an excellent job.

The Porsche Panamera is very similar in dimensions to the Model S but sits lower to the ground. The Panamera features a typical design language like all other Porsche vehicles and looks equally handsome to look at.

2015 Tesla Model S electric Safety

9.5/10

Safety is one of the Model S’s strong points. The NHTSA crash-tests revealed that the sedan is surprisingly safe and the organization awarded the car with the best possible rating of 5-star on overall and all parameters.

2015 Tesla Model S electric Sedan Crash test

The sedan comes with superb build quality and an intelligently placed battery pack to avoid a fire in an event of a crash. On the inside, the sedan has a total of 6 airbags to protect all the occupants during a crash.

Some standard safety features include:

  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Lane departure warning
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Theft deterrent system
  • Parking sensors
  • Rearview camera

2015 Tesla Model S electric Final Verdict

If you want to save on your fuel bills big time, go for the Tesla Model S blindly. Yes, it might set you back more than an average hybrid or electric vehicle, but on the flipside, there will be a plethora of features and a strong and unrivaled performance on offer with the Model S. The sedan sports a mediocre interior for its price but is loaded to the brim with futuristic techs such as Tesla’s Autopilot.
