The 2021 Rolls Royce Ghost will be made available in two trims; Sedan and Extended Wheelbase. The only difference between the two trims is as the name suggests, the Extended Wheelbase trim has some extra legroom in the rear row and also some more space in the trunk.

2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost Maintenance, Reliability and Warranty

The Rolls-Royce Ghost has been among the most reliable sedans, especially the 2020 model year. The 2020 Rolls Royce Ghost received the highest ratings by reviewers and customers alike, and it is expected considering how seriously Rolls-Royce takes reliability as an integral part of a luxurious ownership experience as with the other things.

Reliability and Ownership Costs

According to J.D. Power reports, there are no recalls for the 2019 and the 2020 model years, which show how far Rolls-Royce takes reliability as a priority. However, also dop note the fact that the volume of cars sold is really low too. It is expected of Rolls-Royce to give a similar kind of attention to the 2021 model as well.

The average price for the Rolls Royce Ghost, comes out to be around $367,675, across the U.S. The price of a vehicle depends on various factors like destination charges, sales taxes and individual dealership discounts. The people from the states of Alaska, New Hampshire, Montana, Oregon and Delaware enjoy the best prices as the sales tax is exempted from these states.

The Rolls Royce Ghost is an exotic vehicle and maintenance costs for such vehicles are usually very high. However, to make the ownership experience better, Rolls Royce offers a complimentary maintenance program that takes care of the maintenance and any kind of repairs that are needed.

The Rolls Royce Ghost does have some red marks on its resume. In 2018, the Ghost was recalled to fix a fault with the airbag sensors. Despite being an epitome of luxury, the Rolls Royce Ghost has evolved over time.

Warranty

Rolls-Royce treats their cars, and customers for that matter differently. This is because there is no expiration of the warranty packages at any certain mileage limit. The Ghost will get a similar warranty package as the rest of the Rolls-Royce lineup which is as follows

Criteria

Period

Limited warranty

4 yrs or unlimited miles

Powertrain warranty

4 yrs or unlimited miles

24-hour roadside assistance

4 yrs or unlimited miles

Along with a decent warranty plan, Rolls Royce also provides a complimentary maintenance plan, in which they take complete care of the vehicle including maintenance and repairs. Every new Rolls Royce is offered with a 4 years unlimited miles warranty, to ease out the ownership experience.

2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost Buying Advice

Buying a Rolls Royce is not just a normal experience, it is rather an occasion. For the Ghost, we would recommend the standard version as it comes with all the features and looks more proportionate. The extended wheelbase version sets you back about $35,000 more and flaunts the same standard features. On the other hand, Rolls Royce also allows you to completely customize your Ghost according to your individual preference.

Is buying a used car Rolls-Royce Ghost a good idea?

If you are looking to buy the base model then you can save quite some money by going for any models built on or after 2019. Be wary of the recalls and check the records if the car has been inspected thoroughly and there were quite a few of them on and before 2018. The car has had various recalls from when it was introduced in 2010 till 2018 so it is advised to go through the car checkup history.

In case you want to go for a used Rolls Royce Ghost, we would recommend to go for a model year later than 2018. Moreover, you can also check out the Car Indigo used car inventory to find some great deals over used Rolls Royce Ghost vehicles near you

2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost Engine and Performance

8.9/10

The engine that will be placed under the hood of the 2021 Rolls Royce Ghost will be the same one seen on the Phantom and the Cullinan SUV. It will be a 6.7-liter V-12 twin-turbocharged engine that puts out 563 horsepower and up to 664 lb-ft of torque.

2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost rear third quarter view

However, the 2021 Rolls Royce Ghost will get more than that, expect to have better power figures than those numbers above, probably north of 600 horses in order to compete with the blistering BMW M760i. Also, Roll-Royce sells the Black Badge version in the current Ghost which has a power output of 603 horses, so that should be a good starting point for the new Ghost.

As compared to the competition, the Bentley Flying Spur has the best power figures while the Maybach S650 has the most torque and is also a RWD. The new Ghost is also expected to get an All-Wheel-Drive drivetrain, which will further improve the driving dynamics of the vehicle

2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost Acceleration And Braking Performance

An 8-speed ZF automatic transmission will be responsible for the transmission duties in the new 2021 Rolls Royce Ghost which will send all that torque through all four wheels. Not only that, but a 48V electrical architecture is also expected to be present there to assist this big hunk of metal lower down the rev range with some instant torque.

2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost accelerate 0-60 mph just in 4.8 sec.

The new Ghost will also flaunt similar braking capabilities as its outgoing predecessor. The previous iteration of the Ghost was equipped with 16.1” rotors in the front and 15.8” rotors in the rear. This gives it a stopping distance of 107 ft from 60 mph.

2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost Fuel Economy

4.0/10

The 2021 Rolls Royce Ghost is not a very fuel efficient vehicle. It is an ultra luxury sedan, which offers the best of quality in the automobile industry. Even the best and most efficient of transmission technologies can’t pull up the efficiency figures. The engine has always been optimized to provide the utmost luxury.

The Flying Spur and the S650 have the better range courtesy to better fuel economy. The Bentley also gets the biggest fuel appetite of 23.8 gallons. However, the Ghost gets a decent fuel efficiency in the city driving conditions as well.

2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost Interior

9.5/10

Every Rolls-Royce ever rolled out has been the finest specimen and has been the perfect representation of uncompromisingly opulent comfort. Even the level of attention to detail to every surface, knob, switch, and the lever is not only extravagant, the 2021 Rolls Royce Ghost makes sure that the quality of materials is also the finest you will ever see. However, the game has progressed now and we see companies like Bentley and Maybach putting some impeccable interiors inside the cabin of their respective rivals.

2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost seats

In order to imagine what it will be like sitting in one of these cars, think about thick-pile carpets under your feet, some gorgeous looking wood and metal accents are strewn all around the cabin accompanied by finely grained leather. The headliner is an experience in itself, with tiny integrated LED lights that make you feel you are under a starlit sky. And don’t even get started on the room at the rear, especially if it is the Extended Wheelbase trim. The tailoring and cushioning done to the seats are befitting for a king. So the king will also be treated with many extravagant features like massaging seats and the rear-seat entertainment. All that clearly shows the decade of practice and now expertise Rolls-Royce has in pulling interiors like these off.

The Ghost is easily the roomiest of all the cars mentioned here. It provides the best legroom in the rear with its extended wheelbase version. The Rolls Royce provides few of the best interiors in the automotive industry. Combine that with the intelligent tech from BMW, it creates a perfect balance between traditional and modern innovations.

How’s the 2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost’s infotainment system?

There aren’t too many spy shots around to help anyone speculate. But it is all the more obvious to expect a large infotainment touchscreen with navigation. The standard features will include Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Some bits from the outgoing model like the dual-screen rear-seat entertainment system which was helpful to access the radio, the navigation, and a lot more is expected to return too.

2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost Exterior

8.7/10

The 2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost will be decently redesigned and the looks are all new. By now plenty of spy shots have been revealed of the Ghost being tested under the camouflage and there are some rendering around the internet too which suggest what the new car will look like. Like said before, the new aluminum space frame platform has been developed exclusively by Rolls-Royce and is called the Architecture of Luxury.

2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost seats third quarter view

The platform is all new and developed by Rolls, there is a larger vertical column radiator grille than before that looks dominant, and the slim Laser-like LED headlights have grown in size too. The lines across the car are smoother too, and the sheet metal surfacing has been given elegant shapes. The front fascia is bolder and sits lower incorporating the large air intakes and the glass area is now taller than before. The side profile looks a lot sportier with the sleek coach doors and pillars. Also not to mention, the greenhouse has a more sloping roofline. The oblique ‘ring-framed’ taillight design will be similar to what you see on the Phantom. There are twin exhausts that are trapezoids and a steeply raked trunk.

All that extra room comes courtesy to the larger dimensions of the Ghost. Interestingly, the Maybach S650 also has similar dimensions but that doesn’t seem to transcend to the cabin space inside.

2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost Safety

8.0/10

The 2021 Rolls Royce Ghost is a low-volume extremely costly vehicle so crash tests are unlikely to be carried out by NHTSA and IIHS. However, the Rolls Royce 2021 Ghost will be really “heavy” on the driver-assist features, a lot of that is expected to make its way into the cabin. Even with the standard safety features, Rolls-Royce is going to make leaps and bounds as the people who pay this amount of money will also be mindful of how safe they are going to be inside the car.

  • Standard lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist
  • Standard automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection
  • Available adaptive cruise control with semi-autonomous driving mode

2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost Competition

2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost Vs Bentley Flying Spur

The Bentley Flying Spur is a new entry to this rivalry. It has one of the best interiors in the segment and is all and all an ultra-luxury sedan with an equally great driver experience as the passenger.

2021 Bentley Flying Spur

That is quite a difference in the equation here as you will actually have fun behind the wheel, the car is agile with its handling and almost too much power, that too in a good way. Taking the attention back to the rear row and the interiors are sumptuous and pampering, to say the least.

2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost Vs BMW M760i

The M760i hits a different vein, it is more of a statement car among anything. It is neither necessarily as sporty as its rivals nor is it the most pampering. But the monstrous V12 is a joy to rev and is among the most excellent engines around.

2021 BMW M760i

It also does other things right like the interiors which are almost cut-off from the external world with its quietness and the handsome exteriors which have some road presence attached.

2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost Final Verdict

One of the grandest luxury vehicles, from the coach-brand of ultra-luxury vehicles, the 2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost is the “entry-point” to the world of Rolls-Royce. The new changes seem welcome, with the styling of the Ghost more evolutionary than revolutionary, which isn’t to say the outgoing model looks bad but the looks are fresh all the more. Rolls will put their own underpinnings this time and not borrow it from BMW which means we might see an all-new Ghost interior as well which we couldn’t see before. It remains to be seen how the final product would be but rest assured, it is going to be the ultimate experience of transportation.
