For those who think a Porsche should have its engine mounted after the cabin and room for no more than two humans, the Panamera might be sacrilege but as a brand, Porsche is keenly interested in increasing its sales that means branching out into previously untapped markets. While unsettling for the elites, the expansion of Stuttgart's favorite brand opens up the joy of Porsche ownership

Premium interior

Pros - "Quick acceleration Impressive handling Superior cabin materials"

Cons - "Poor rear visibility High prices and ownership costs"

The compact utilitarian approach The turbocharged engine provides a peppy acceleration. The CVT does make me miss the manual stick. The purchase experince was top class and their service is what I felt as the best when it comes to trucks. They take care of my baby as well as I do.

Bellyful features in it

Pros - Refinement, interiors and features

Cons - Poor rear visibility and narrow rear seating

I am a satisfied owner of the Panamera and it was the same as it was before 2 years This car is a well handling, high performance luxury sedan for real adults who enjoy performance cars but don't 'fit' into the 911 anymore. It is a vastly improved take on the concept that led to the 928 but has far better handling and performance. Four doors, plenty of room and a design that grows on you. Definitely a Porsche and all it should be. Much more so than a Cayenne. This car is a joy to drive on winding roads and gets more nimble as you increase speeds. It all started with my sales associate, Joel . I could not recommend him more highly. The best dealership in the state with the nicest guys!

Looks great, feels great, and drives great

Pros - Beautiful, comfortable, good power

Cons - Depreciation

I should have bought a Porsche sooner! I love the design of my 2015 Porsche Panamera more than its new iterations. It has a character the new ones lack! As far as the details are concerned the performance is as good as you expect from a Porsche this expensive. The interiors are perfect! There is nothing I would change. The tech is plenty and everything is power- seats, windows, doors, cabin light, and everything else. It also has a plethora of safety features too. And for reliability- it has been working like a charm so far. I didn't purchase through a dealership, I don't usually trust dealerships and try to buy my cars through private parties. The guy I purchased it from was very good and friendly. Plus, he was very honest as well.

The 2014 Porsche Panamera brings all the signature Porsche signature looks and performance packed in a luxurious sedan. With what seems like innumerable options to choose your Panamera from, there is something to offer for everyone. The exterior gets the typical Porsche looks while the interiors are adorned with high-quality material and the latest features. Starting at a price tag of $78,000 the top trims can reach up to $200,000. Thus the Porsche finds itself in competition with equally powerful vehicles like Mercedes-Benz S550, BMW 750i, and the Jaguar XJL.

Buying Advice

The base trim comes packed with a lot of features as standard. However, owning a Porsche means better performance and high levels of luxury. hence, we recommend you to take a look at the S trim as it includes a good mix of luxurious interior features. Also, it comes with a powerful 420-horsepower V6 engine.

2015 Porsche Panamera Engine and Performance

8.0/10

Engine choices for the Porsche Panamera are extensive. It includes a 310 horsepower V6, a 420 horsepower twin-turbocharged V6, a 440 horsepower V8 and a twin-turbocharged V8 offered in 520 and 570horsepower flavors. All Panameras make use of a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. All-wheel-drive is also offered on select Panamera models. Its bulbous looks might suggest less than stellar performance but in motion, the Porsche Panamera stirs many of the same emotions as its sportier siblings. Acceleration is strong throughout the lineup with all models blasting to 60 mph in 6 seconds or less.

The pinnacle of the lineup is the Turbo S, a 550 horsepower beast that can blast to 60 mph from a standstill in a super-like 3.6 seconds. Pure acceleration is fun but the Panamera’s greatest charm comes from its handling. The steering, which is pleasantly light at slower speeds, inspires confidence at higher speeds translating driver inputs into precise reactions from the vehicle. The Panamera’s elevated competence and corners are contrasted by an impressively comfortable ride that doesn’t hide the road but greatly reduces the severity of its imperfections.

Having sports DNA in its engine, the Panamera is the fastest car in this segment. The Jaguar XJ and the BMW 750i strive together to get the second spot on the table although the latter is less powerful. The Mercedes-Benz S550 comes in last but gives a good challenge to its rivals.

2015 Porsche Panamera Fuel Economy

7.0/10

Despite having that sporty character from its siblings, Porsche has managed to create an engine keeping fuel economy in mind. Fuel economy with the V6 ranges from high teens in the city to the high 20s on the highway. The powerful Turbo S model sees those figures dropped to the mid-teens and the low-20s respectively.

Compared to its rivals, the Porsche Panamera delivers good fuel economy with a combined mileage of 21 mpg. The fuel estimates of the Mercedes-Benz S550 and the BMW 750i are very close to the Panamera and take the second and third spots, respectively. With just 18 mpg combined, the Jaguar XJ’s supercharged V8 is the thirstiest engine in this segment.

2015 Porsche Panamera Interior

The exterior may have its detractors but the Panamera’s shape yields benefits inside. There are only four seats but each of those four seats offers more than abundant head and legroom. Add to that a meticulously-crafted interior and the Panamera proves to be a welcoming space to pass the miles.

The real area of concern comes from the center console which is home to a swath of similar-looking buttons that can be overwhelming to sip through while focused on the task of driving. The hatchback body style also enables decent trunk space with 15.7 cubic feet available behind the rear seats. Furthermore, it expands to 44.6 cubic feet with the rear seats folded.

The main downside of the Panamera is that it offers only four seats while its rivals have standard five-seating. The BMW 750i leads the segment with good head and legroom in both rows. Meanwhile, the Panamera offers less headroom in the front row and legroom in the rear row. The longer wheelbase of the Executive model bargains for better legroom in both rows. Some of the main interior highlights of the Panamera include:

  • Leather upholstery
  • Heated front and rear seats
  • 8, 14, 18-way power-adjustable front seats
  • 8-way power-adjustable rear seats
  • Ventilated front and rear seats
  • Heated steering wheel

How intuitive is the 2015 Porsche Panamera’s infotainment system?

The Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment system is considered one of the best in the industry. All the infotainment functions are operated by a 7-inch touchscreen display on the center of the dash. Although there are a lot of buttons on the center console that look alike, there are nicely arranged. These buttons make the system easy to use. Higher trims enjoy a rear-seat entertainment system as a standard feature. Some of the other features include:

  • An 11, 14, and 16-speaker Burmester premium audio system
  • Satellite radio
  • HD radio
  • Integrated navigation system
  • Bluetooth streaming
  • USB port

2015 Porsche Panamera Exterior

7.0/10

Likely, the Porsche Panamera’s most controversial element is its styling. The large long hatchback design might to some as bloated-looking while some others might look past the silhouette and appreciate details like muscular rear haunches and headlights that lead back into slightly raised fenders, a distinct Porsche trait. Either way, we think Porsche’s designers tried their best with the challenging shape. Delineating various models from each other are distinct exhaust outlets, unique wheels, and modestly-tweaked fascias.

The lightweight of the Panamera plays an important role in its acceleration and it is the shortest sedan in this field. The Jaguar XJ has a very low ground clearance of 4 inches while the Mercedes-Benz S550 has the widest wheelbase at 124.6 inches. Some of the cool exterior features of the Panamera include:

  • Power rear spoiler
  • Power liftgate
  • Chrome door handles
  • Auto-dimming exterior mirrors
  • Power and heated door mirrors
  • LED headlamps
  • LED DRLs

2015 Porsche Panamera Safety

9.0/10

Both IIHS and NHTSA have not crash-tested the new Porsche Panamera just for the sake of safety ratings due to its high price factor. Nevertheless, the sedan is well-protected thanks to the top advanced safety features available. Some of those features include:

  • Rearview Camera
  • Surround-View Parking Camera System
  • Forward Collision Warning
  • Automatic Emergency Braking
  • Blind Spot Monitoring
  • Lane Departure Warning
  • Adaptive Cruise Control

2015 Porsche Panamera Competition

If you wish for exceptional performance and exclusivity of Porsche ownership but your loved ones refuse to occupy the inhumane seats in the 911. If you need more than four seats in your performance car, you’ll need to look elsewhere. Those looking to stay within the Porsche family might consider the impressively-agile Cayenne SUV.
