The 2019 Porsche Cayenne is an automotive icon that saved this German auto marque from bankruptcy and crafted an all-new segment of performance SUVs. The 3.0L turbocharged engine at the heart of this SUV feels powerful with a lot of punch. The Cayenne is the only SUV with a diversified character, handles like a sports car, has the luxury of a luxury sedan, and the off-roading/towing ability of a full-size SUV. This third-generation Cayenne got the last redesign in 2019 and is put together in Slovakia.

For the 2019 model year, the Cayenne gets completely updated with new and upgraded interior features and an updated infotainment system as well. The SUV starts at a price of $65,700 for the Base trim and gets a 3.0liter turbocharged engine at its heart. In the segment, it faces competition from the newcomers into the market such as the Maserati Levante, Audi Q8, and the Jaguar F-Pace S.

2019 Porsche Cayenne Pricing and Features

8.0/10

The 2019 Porsche Cayenne comes in 2 trims as mentioned before i.e., the Cayenne and the Cayenne S. The Cayenne is priced at $65,700, and the Cayenne S is priced at $82,900. The base trim of the Cayenne comes with quite a power-packed 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine. Moreover, it flaunts many features such as the new LED headlights, taillight strip, partial leather seats, a 12.4-inch touchscreen among other features. On the other hand, the Cayenne S comes with a more powerful 2.9 liter twin-turbo V6 engine. It also flaunts almost all the features of the base Cayenne but in addition to them, it also has Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), tinted taillights, and a panoramic roof.

We Recommend

Since the price difference between the trims is quite less, if you are ready to spend a little more, you can always go for the Cayenne S. Also though the standard features offered are quite less, and Porsche provides many customization options to customize your Cayenne as per your tastes and choice. Not to forget you also have the optional Sport Chrono package available on both the trims to provide you with an even more power-packed than they usually provide, just at the push of a button.

2019 Porsche Cayenne Engine and Performance

9.3/10

The 2019 Porsche Cayenne is equipped with a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine. This engine comes with a twin-scroll turbocharger which has been placed between the cylinder banks and helps in producing a horsepower of 340 hp along with a torque of 331 lb. ft. The motor represents superior German engineering from Stuttgart with its excellent refinement and strong power delivery. Although the Cayenne is equipped with quite an efficient engine, it still remains at par with the rest of the rivals on the list. The Jaguar F-Pace S leads the class with a horsepower of 380 hp followed by the Audi Q8 and the Maserati Levante. The BMW X5 takes the least position with the lowest horsepower and torque figures.

Acceleration

The 2019 Porsche Cayenne accelerates to the speed of 60 MPH in 5.9 seconds and finishes a quarter-mile in 14.4 seconds. The SUV might feel a bit slow is owing to a bit lacking power from the engine. However, if you want your Cayenne to perform a bit better you can spend around $1,000 more to get the Sports Chrono package that helps the car accelerate to 60 MPH in 5.6 seconds. With this package you get a SPORT PLUS mode in which the engine becomes more responsive, the damping gets harder and the steering gets more direct.

The sluggish acceleration of the Cayenne puts it at the end of the line. Even here the F-Pace S leads the class followed by the Q8 and the Levante.

Ride and Handling

Despite the high stance of the vehicle, looks like the Cayenne handles itself fine. Its steering is quite exceptional. The SUV's electrically assisted power steering feels quite precise. Moreover, its newly integrated chassis controlling analysis of multiple driving situations and accordingly adjusts the chassis accordingly to provide optimum performance.

Moreover, it is also equipped with various other features such as adaptive air suspension, rear-axle steering, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), etc to make your drive more easy and comfortable. On the other hand, the Cayenne S comes with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) as a standard feature.

Braking

The 2019 Porsche Cayenne has quite an optimum braking performance for the aggression it shows. It has a front brake of 13.7 inches and a rear brake of 12.9 inches. Moreover, the bite feels smooth when paired with the adaptive air suspension, thus avoiding a jerk in emergencies. Also due to its heavy and well-balanced weight, the car doesn't turn around from its path when the Brakes are applied at high speed.

2019 Porsche Cayenne Fuel Economy

6.9/10

Luxury SUVs were both famous and infamous as well. The infamous tag was earned owing to the gas-guzzling nature of the powerplants that these vehicles used to come. Nowadays, automakers are utilizing the true potential of turbochargers and use smaller than before motors with similar or better power output and increased fuel efficiency as well. The 2019 Porsche Cayenne has a city mileage of 19mpg while the highway mileage stands at 23mpg. The combined mileage stands at 21mpg.

Coming to the competitors, the Maserati Levante is the least efficient among the rivals on the list. The BMW X5 has the best mileage figures and the rest does with almost identical fuel economy figures, making the Cayenne at par with the competition.

2019 Porsche Cayenne Interior

7.7/10

The interior of the 2019 Cayenne is completely redesigned. The ambient lighting is pretty soothing and the build quality of the cabin is quite impressive with good sound insulation and supportive seats. Moreover, the front passengers enjoy ample space and the driver is going to enjoy the comfortable drive behind the wheel. All the controls are within the reach of the driver, making the SUV quite driver-focused too. The controls are mostly touch-sensitive and using them is a breeze while driving as well.

2019 Porsche Cayenne Exterior

8.6/10

The 2019 Porsche Cayenne looks quite new but still looks identical to its predecessors. Its revamped looks include heavily emphasized front wings, the long sloping bonnet with power domes, and the three-piece air intakes, which have become even larger and more dominant. Moreover what makes it look much stunning are the main LED headlights and the tail light strips. On the other hand, the redesigning of the Cayenne has cut down a lot of weight to glide more swiftly through the wind.

2019 Porsche Cayenne Competition

9.9/10

2019 Porsche Cayenne vs Maserati Levante

The 2019 Maserati Levante is quite might look a little more powerful than the Porsche Cayenne. But even after having a twin turbocharger, a horsepower of 5hp would not be an appreciable power when compared to the turbocharged V6 of the Cayenne. Moreover, it performs on par with the Cayenne. Moreover, in terms of interior quality, Porsche offers you a cake. So paying up the $10,000 more for a tad more power doesn't justify what you are going to pay for.

2019 Maserati Levante

2019 Porsche Cayenne vs Audi Q8

Previously the Audi Q7 was usually considered as a competitor from Audi for the Cayenne. However, it was not an identical competitor in many aspects. Now with the Q8 in the market the whole scenario changes. It's the first year for the Audi Q8 into the market of mid-size SUVs and crossovers. It looks like a more identical competitor but with more power and better performance than the Cayenne. Although most of its other specs and features are still not available, paying around $2,000 for the power-packed performance it provides is better than going for the Sports Chrono package by paying $1,000 more.

2019 Audi Q8

2019 Porsche Cayenne vs BMW X5

The Porsche Cayenne and the BMW X5 have been rivals for more than a decade now. Cayenne is more powerful but the X5 provides better performance. Both of them are technologically well equipped and have a luxurious interior. Although the X5 has an option to fit in a 3rd row which the Cayenne can't afford. Still, the X5 looks a bit dated when compared to the all-new look of the Cayenne. However, that can be justified by the price being paid. So looks like the X5 might have a slight upper hand there.

2019 BMW X5

2019 Porsche Cayenne Final Verdict

8.2/10

The Porsche Cayenne has been in the market for more than a decade now. This is one of the most credible midsize SUVs of this era. Moreover, with the all-new generation of the Cayenne that comes this year, the stakes might be a bit high. But still considering its rivals, the Cayenne has its work cut-out in a segment that’s gaining tremendous popularity.

Porsche knows it better.

Pros - Exciting driving demeanour, tech loaded cabin, enthusiastic engine

Cons - No cons whatsoever.

The best in the business. Coming from a GLE, my new Cayenne feels like a relevation. Performance is the key word here and you get lots of it. Even an ordinary guy like me could instantly realize why this gets this much praise. It is something that you would only feel after owning one. This SUV has an incredible sense on control, no matter what the speed is; stays absolutely flat through corners. Doing all this and being an absolutely comfortable commuter machine; something only which Porsche can pull off! Michelle was such a welcoming person. All her work felt professional and she never made us wait at any point. We were also served coffee while at their lounge.

My new CAyenne!

Pros - Remarkable performance. Premium looks. Easy-to-use controls.

Cons - Bare minimum standard features. Not so forgiving on bad roads.

Worth for the performance It's been two years since I upgraded to the Porsche from a Mercedes GLC and I can't be any happier. The S badge has made everything so much more sweeter. The 2.9L twin-turbo packs in lot of firepower to set this SUV blistering through any part of the day. I don't know what it is exactly because of, but everything just works in sync provide for a great driving pleasure. Be it anywhere. Likewise, it definitely is a good-looker and grabs a lot of attention. However, I was disappointed at the bare minimum features on offer even after a premium. I had to opt for lot of add-ons for the leather interiors, heated seats, ambient lighting etc. which should be there already! Except for having taken lot of excess money in the name of add-ons, I don't think I have lot to complain!

A nice experience

Pros - Slanted teardrop shaped headlights, uber-luxury, exciting and zippy ride

Cons - No Android integration, can't see much at rear(thank god, there are rear sensors atleast), does not have standard driving assist features

Exciting ride and uber-luxury 850 dollars per month lease, slanted teardrop shaped headlights, uber-luxury, exciting and zippy ride. All things go in favor of my Cayenne, except for the unavailability of Android integration. No worries, I was already planning on getting an Apple soon. Vehicle purchase, delivery, and initial training about vehicle made me feel good.
