Platinum Murano

Pros - "Posh, comfortable cabin Easy-to-use tech features Smooth ride"

Cons - "Poor rear visibility Not as athletic as rival SUV"

Murano nah It would have been preferable if I could have gotten the characteristics I wanted without having to spend money on a sun roof. Because I didn't want a sunroof, I couldn't have all I wanted. The option to update GPS should be available to the service department, and map updates should be free. I'm so annoyed about having to buy a map update that I'm thinking about not buying a Nissan in the future. This is the best dealership in our County. I mean no one can get a better deal than here. The APR at finance of my Nissan was offered at 0.7% which is quite fascinating. Apart from this I wish the dealership had a seating place because at peak hours it is crowded.

Great car, but requires too much maintenance far too frequently

Pros - It’s quick, It’s nice and clean on the inside, The sound system is great.

Cons - Mechanical issues happen way too frequently, the interior feels cheap, It’s loud

Minute details are missing Nissan is known for its sharp body lines and stylish and modern interior and Murano is no different. And the interior specifically is really well done. Nissan sure knows how to build a good cabin. They know exactly what their customers want and have delivered that. The interior is both roomy and comfortable and of course quiet! The touch screen is not the best but it supports Android Auto. Excellent, no pressure or judgment and just let us look and explore until we were ready to make a decision

A premuim class package

Pros - Roomy and premium interiors, pleasant ride qaulity, good list of standard equipment

Cons - Window lines run high on the seond row robbing off thaat airey feel.

Premium and feature-packed interiors Power and torque ratings are sufficient to get past others on highways, as well as experience fun on city roads. The R20 tires in companion with softer suspension provide enough comfort; but while passing over large sized irregularities, undulations take a bit longer to get absorbed in. It mostly remains stable and composed at high speeds, but during cornering some body lean can be experienced due to it's height I guess. Steering is numb and provides negligible feedback, which makes it lack fun. I didn't even know how the time passed by. These people are very informative and help you make the correct choice. The finance work took a but time though.

The 2016 Nissan Murano remains unchanged for this rear and carries forward  the same engine option. The 3.5-liter V6 is powerful and provides punchy performance along with decent acceleration. The Murano is more of a spacious and attractive option for a midsize hatchback. It's comfortable to dive and provides great overall comfort or all the passengers. Starting at a base price of $29,740, while the top trim can reach up to $39,000. Thus the Murano competes with the likes of Ford Edge and Hyundai Santa Fe.

We recommend

Since all the trims are offered with an optional AWD layout, we would recommend you go for the SV trim. For the price it carries, it offers quite a bunch of premium and handy features along with an optional Premium Package that adds Power Panoramic Moonroof and 11 Speaker BOSE Premium Audio System.

2016 Nissan Murano Engine and Performance

8.4/10

The 2016 Nissan Murano is powered by a DOHC V6 motor that churns out a commendable 260 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque. The motor is surprisingly smooth and delivers all the power in a linear manner without any fuss. The engine has enough power on tap to carry out almost all the day-to-day activities you intend to do and can offer some more with the optional AWD layout. The motor is mated to a CVT transmission that utilizes the power from the engine efficiently and effectively.

2016 Nissan Murano SUV Engine Bay

The Nissan Murano offers a decent acceleration for an SUV of its size. In its FWD avatar, the SUV completes the 0-60mph run under 7.8 seconds and accomplishes the standing quarter-mile within 16 seconds. Keep the gas pedal floored, and the Murano will max out at 119 mph of top speed.

The power and torque figures of the Murano are on par with the rivals here. The Hyundai Santa Fe pushes out the maximum horsepower but the Ford Edge aces it with its commendable torque output. When compared with its rivals here, the Murano’s performance figures are lowest, however, with the AWD system, it improves slightly. The Santa Fe is the quickest one here, courtesy of the 290 horsepower it can produce. Both the Murano and the Edge have similar emission ratings, while the Santa Fe has a higher rating making the former two slightly greener than the latter.

2016 Nissan Murano Fuel Economy

6.0/10

The V6 motor of the 2016 Murano combined with the CVT unit returns a respectable fuel economy rating of 21mpg within the city and an impressive 28mpg out on the highways. The combined rating stands at 24mpg. The mpg ratings are more than adequate considering the size of the power plant and the performance it offers.

When compared with the rivals, the Murano is just on par with them. The Ford Edge is the most fuel-efficient offering while the Santa Fe returns the lowest mileage figures among the three owing to its heavy curb weight and power figures. With 26 mpg of combined mileage, the 2016 Ford Edge leads the race in the segment.

2016 Nissan Murano Interior

8.9/10

The interior of the Murano is one of its strong points that appeal to the buyers more than anything. The interior is made out of high-quality and premium soft-touch materials that cover almost all surfaces. The seats might not be the first thing you notice after getting in but they do impress a lot. Nissan calls it “Zero Gravity” seats, owing to the fact that those are designed to give your sitting posture the same shape while you’re in zero gravity.

2016 Nissan Murano SUV Dashboard View

Apart from that, the interiors give an overall feel of plushness and feel quite airy too. The Murano can accommodate 5 passengers comfortably, and the third passenger at the rear seat won’t have a hard time during those long trips.

The Hyundai Santa Fe is the only 7 seater SUV on the list but its third row is better left alone other than using it for keeping extra luggage or putting kids for a short duration. The Ford Edge is bigger than the Murano and offers more headroom and legroom than the Murano. Few key features include-

  • Front Seatback Storage
  • Cruise Control
  • Keyless Ignition
  • Dual Illuminating Vanity Mirrors
  • Front And Rear Cupholders
  • Dual Zone Front Climate Control
  • Interior Air Filtration
  • Leather Steering Wheel
  • Electrochromatic Inside Rearview Mirror

Infotainment

The infotainment system of the Murano is pretty loaded and comes with a 7-inch touchscreen display and features NissanConnect user interface. Disappointingly, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are missing but Mobile Apps technology takes care of it to some extent.

2016 Nissan Murano SUV Infotainment System

Overall the system is very responsive and functions like a tablet with its intuitive graphics and menu layout.

Some standard features include:

  • AM/FM Stereo
  • Auxiliary Audio Input
  • CD Player
  • HD Radio
  • MP3 Player
  • Satellite Radio

2016 Nissan Murano Exterior

9.5/10

The exterior of the Nissan Murano is as good and appealing as the interior. The front fascia looks attractive with Nissan’s “V-motion” front grille design. With bulging wheel arches and a muscular side-profile, the Murano gets a distinctive butch yet compact look.

2016 Nissan Murano SUV Front Angle View

Its floating roof design makes the SUV look like a crouching beast. The rear end also looks as good as the front, with a pair of stylish taillight and a bulging rear bumper with a tasteful chrome strip running across it.

The Santa Fe is the longest SUV on the list, and the Murano comes right next to it closely followed by the Edge. On the flip side, the Ford Edge is the tallest one here that explains the rival best headroom it offers. When comparing the curb weight, Hyundai Santa Fe is the heaviest of the lot at 4,026 lbs.
