Audi Introduces a New Gas-Powered Motor for 2020 Q7 SUV

Audi has been on the offensive with a slew of launches in 2020. The latest car to join this lineup is the 2020 Q7 SUV. Specifically speaking, the Q7, now comes powered by an all-new 45 TFSI motor that is being offered in the 2.0-liter iteration. Audi says that this motor is both cleaner and greener than the bigger 3.0-liter motor but offers similar performance and thrill of driving the Q7.

Audi is one of the most reliable and dependable manufacturers in the market. Their cars boast of good safety, reliability, and great performance. The Q7 is Audi’s Mid-Size Luxury SUV that competes mainly against the Mercedes-Benz GLE, BMW X5, and the Volvo XC90. To reach out to an even wider range of audiences, Audi just announced a new engine option for Q7’s Premium and Premium Plus Trims. The engine is smaller than the standard 3.0L unit that you find in the regular Q7.

The Q7 now gets a smaller and but potent motor, thus enabling it to can go against the base Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 and Volvo XC90 Momentum. The older lineup only offered a 3.0 Liter V6, now you get an option for a smaller engine. The new 2.0 Liter 4 Cylinder produces 248hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. You also get the Quattro all-wheel drive as standard. The new engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox and boasts a towing capacity of 4,400-lbs.

It was announced previously that the 2020 Q7 will be getting a refreshed look. Along with that Audi has also given the interior an upgrade.

Interior and Infotainment

  • The interior of the Q7 follows the design language set forth by the Audi Q8. The cockpit architecture harmonizes with the new MMI touch response dual touchscreen display. An air vent strip spans the width of the dashboard, underlined by black panel elements and nearly uninterrupted inlays.
  • The Q7 offers standard three-zone automatic climate control, or available four-zone and a standard panoramic sunroof with electric sunshade.
  • The Q7 also integrates benchmark technologies including standard MMI Navigation with MMI touch response system (10.1-inch upper, 8.6-inch lower), Audi smartphone interface that provides Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration for compatible devices and available Audi phone box which connects compatible smartphones with the vehicle’s antenna and can charge the phone inductively.
  • Also standard is the Audi virtual cockpit, which helps to enhance the infotainment and navigating experience through the large Google Earth imager or 3D city maps (requires Audi connect PRIME subscription) supported with 4G LTE.
  • A full suite of Audi’s latest driver assistance systems introduced on the A8 last year are standard or available including adaptive cruise assist with traffic jam assist, turn assist, and Audi side assist with rear cross-traffic assist and vehicle exit warning, and top-view camera system with virtual 360 surround view that can help drivers navigate the road and traffic with increased confidence.

2020 Audi Q7 Prices

The new 2.0-liter engine does help Audi position the Q7 more aggressively to its rivals. The Q7 even produces similar power competitors base offering. The Mercedes-Benz GLE 350’s 2.0-liter engine produces 255hp and the Volvo XC90 T5 Momentum produces 250hp with its 2.0 liter. The Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 is priced at $53,700 and the Volvo XC90 T5 Momentum starts at $48,350. So if you are in the market for a more fuel-efficient Audi Q7, the new 2.0L 45 TFSI Quattro is a good option.
