What are the Pricing, Trims, and Features of the 2022 Volkswagen Taos?

The compact SUV, fresh in the states is estimated to get a starting price tag of around $24,000. This has been hinted at by Volkswagen as they proposed it to be about $2,600 lesser than the 2021 Tiguan which is priced from $25,245. Volkswagen has confirmed that the 2022 Taos will be available in 3 trims - S, SE, and SEL all of which will be offered in both FWD and AWD configuration.

Numerous personalization options, bump-up packages, and two drive selections will be available to choose from. The standard feature list is also much impressive for the smallest Volkswagen SUV as it is equipped with a host of standard comfort and technology features which include Automatic headlights, push-button start, 8-way power driver seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated leatherette steering wheel, and ventilated front seats.

What Engine does the 2022 Volkswagen Taos have and how does it perform?

The 2022 Volkswagen Taos is powered by a compact 1.5L Turbocharged inline-4 engine that produces 158 hp and 184 lb-ft. While this is slightly different than the engine used in the 2021 Volkswagen Jetta, the 2022 Jetta might be getting this powertrain as well. It comes standard with an FWD layout but Volkswagen's 4MOTION AWD system is optional. The FWD system gets a standard 8-speed Automatic transmission whereas the AWD system is mated to a 7-Speed DSG automatic transmission.

With this powerful 1.5L engine, the 2022 Taos is one of the most capable small SUVs in the country. The automatic transmission also facilitates various drive modes that will help curate a more efficient driving layout. The FWD Taos will also not be much behind the AWD models in terms of driving dynamics as Volkswagen has worked extensively on its much-acclaimed MQB A1 platform. It underpins a host of cars belonging to the Volkswagen family including the Volkswagen Jetta and T-Roc.

Compared to the adversaries, the Chevrolet Trailblazer is the costliest and is also the most underpowered. The Mazda CX-30 puts up for a compelling alternative with the cheapest MSRP and the most powerful engine. The Hyundai Tucson slots in second place with its low price tag and an adequately powerful engine. The 2022 Volkswagen Taos is saving itself the third place with its price tag and powerful engine.
