BMW has officially teased the 2022 BMW 2 series in a huge gallery of camouflaged pictures. All set for release in Fall 2021, the dimensions get bigger after adopting the CLAR platform. While the Gran Coupe is yet to be revealed, BMW has teased the M240i in testing at the Nurburgring. The redesign retains the same 2.0L I-4 engine in the standard coupe, but adds 34 hp more to the more powerful 3.0L I-6 powertrain.

2022 BMW 2 Series Coupe Latest Updates:

BMW has released the first official camouflaged photos of the all-new next-generation 2022 2-Series Coupe that is all set to enter production in late summer 2021. All set for release in Fall 2021, the 2022 BMW 2-Series has its work cut out for itself. While the sensible 4-door Gran Coupe is great for being a small family car, it is the coupe that has more ground to make up. This is because the 2-door Coupe needs to be nimble and agile whilst being sensible for an enthusiastic daily driver car. Spotted testing in Nurburgring, BMW took the time out to reveal their entry-level ride.

However, judging by the trapezoidal exhausts and sporty wheels that are standard in the M-Sport package, it is quite easy to contemplate that it is the BMW M240i that the brand has teased. Like the BMW Z4, the 3-Series, and the 5-Series, and now also the Toyota Supra, the 2022 BMW 2-Series will finally adopt the CLAR platform. With the arrival of the new architecture, the dimensions of the 2022 BMW 2-Series are also set to change. The brand has revealed that the next generation will see the wheelbase increased by 51 mm, and the track width will increase by 52 mm at the front and 31 mm at the rear.

Know more about the 2022 BMW 2 Series Coupe:

Though the teased images do not reveal anything out of the ordinary, thankfully, the 2022 BMW 2-Series won't get the ugly and humongous front grille like the 4-Series. Retaining the earlier cues, they are only a tad bit wider and stay true to the "kidney-shaped" design that the brand has been known for. The 2022 BMW 2 series keeps the proportions of its forerunners with a long hood and a short stout trunk. It does get LED DRLs, a small lip spoiler on the boot, and flared wheel arches. Under them are 19-inch wheels and blue-painted brake calipers.

In the automaker world, the coveted 50:50 weight distribution is regarded as the perfect ratio between handling and sportiness. With the 2022 2-Series, BMW has claimed the 50:50 weight distribution. If this comes out as a real phenomenon, the claims of having a 12% increase in torsional rigidity will also stand true. This combined with the M-Sport differential will make the next-gen 2022 BMW 2-Series one of the most spectacularly handling vehicles in its class. To provide that kind of prowess, the M-Performance package adds the 374 hp B-58 3.0L inline-6 cylinder powertrain. This comes hooked up to an 8-speed automatic with an xDrive AWD as standard.

For the more docile BMW 2-Series 230i, the 242 hp 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 cylinder engine will continue to be the standard fitment. While the transmission will be 8-speed, the drivetrain will be bumped down to RWD as standard. That being said, all the models under the 2-series umbrella are set to get stroke-dependent dampers that can respond to minor road imperfections to compensate for the vibrations to offer more interior comfort to the passengers. In addition, an adaptive M Chassis is also offered, adding on digitally controlled dampers combined with the drive modes.
