The 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser is the same old SUV as before, though the Heritage Edition returns for 2021 and it now offers an available third row of seats. After more than 60 years of life, the SUV retains the legendary off-roader status. The 2021 Land Cruiser's trucklike construction but offers a comfort-oriented ride. With Toyota’s core values of quality, dependability, and reliability, the 2021 Land Cruiser is ready to climb higher.

The 2021 Land Cruiser leads to be one of the most capable off-roading SUV with near-luxury touches. While the standard model doesn't see any changes, the Heritage Edition does. It was initially offered with two rows of seats and two colors: black or white. For 2021, a three-row version of this Toyota will be available with two new exterior color paint options. The 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser's base price has increased by $100 to $86,840 while the Pricing for the three-row Heritage Edition hasn't been announced yet.

The Land Cruiser's corporate housing Lexus LX shares a lot of similarities including the 381hp v8 engine and its dynamic chassis. Where Lexus's luxury interiors impress us, Toyota's trail-ready equipment such as a two-speed transfer case and a locking center differential makes it a superb off-roading machine. The 2021 Land Cruiser lacks the opulence of equally expensive SUVs including Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator.

What's the Pricing for the 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser?

With a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of 2021 Land Cruiser that starts at $85,515 excluding a $1,325 destination charge and the Heritage Edition starting even higher at $87,84. Prices for the Land Cruiser and the Heritage Edition go up by $100 for 2021 than the outgoing model. Undoubtedly, Land Cruiser is the most expensive Toyota.

Since the Land Cruiser is closely related to the Lexus LX 570, pricing becomes important. As for the three-row Land Cruiser's starting price is almost $6000 lower. But for the two-row model, the Lexus LX 570 has a lower MSRP but the Heritage Edition models get more features. The Land Cruiser is more expensive than the Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator. Though Toyota Land Cruiser has unbeatable off-roading prowess, while these luxury SUVs offer more luxury amenities and easy handling.

What Engine is under the hood of the 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser?

The 2021 Land Cruiser's powertrain is the same 5.7-liter V-8 paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission as before and it once again churns out 381 hp and 401 lb-ft of torque. Full-time four-wheel drive is standard. According to Toyota, 90 percent of peak torque is available at a mere 2,200 rpm. This comes in handy when driving at low speed, exploring off-road, and towing. The same engine is found in other large Toyota vehicles, such as the Tundra pickup truck and Sequoia SUV, as well as the corporate sibling Lexus LX.

Further, the Land Cruiser's hydraulically controlled sway bars ( Which Toyota calls Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System), hill-descent control, multi-terrain select, and the lockable Torsen center differential are still all here without any changes. These mechanical systems work in unison with the automatic gearbox and V8 to make off-roading a simple affair.

But the Lincoln Navigator has a 70 hp advantage over the Land Cruiser, thanks to its twin-turbo V6 mill under the hood. Even the Cadillac Escalade's 420 hp V8 offers more power per dollar. However, the Land Cruiser is the best off-road machine out there which can handle the daily chores quite easily as well.

Is the 2021 Land Cruiser fast enough?

In spite of its beefy exterior and 6000 pounds of curb weight, the 2021 Land Cruiser with 38hp V8 is relatively quick off the line, going from 0 to 60 mph in 6.8 seconds. Compared to its corporate cousin, Lexus LX does the same run in mid-seven seconds.

The Toyota Land Cruiser is capable of towing up to 8100 pounds, which is substantial but rivals such as Navigator can tow up to 8600 pounds. However, the Lexus can only manage 7,000 lbs. The Land Cruiser has potent acceleration and offers a smooth power delivery to all four wheels. The 8-speed auto gearbox is smooth and quick but sometimes it upshifts too quickly, which kills the hard throttle input.

What MPG does the 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser get?

The 2021 Land Cruiser returns EPA-estimated fuel economy of 13 mpg in the city and 17 mpg on the highway. That's below average for a large luxury SUV. Mostly, Land Cruiser's big dimensions and high-displacement V8 are responsible for SUV's dismal MPG ratings. The rivals such as the Lincoln Navigator gets up to 16/22 mpg city/highway while the Cady earns 14/21 mpg.

How're the 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser Interiors?

The 2021 Land Cruiser 200 Series carries over its full complement of amenities, including ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel with power tilt and telescoping and memory, power moonroof, four-zone automatic climate control with 28 cabin air vents and Smart Key keyless entry with push-button start. The Land Cruiser's cabin is comfortable and welcoming while attention-to-detail is impressive. Still, the Land Cruiser's interiors lack the opulence of luxury rivals such as Lexus, Lincoln, and Cadillac. The dashboard is dominated by a 9-inch touch screen while the switchgear including knobs and buttons move with a weightiness that conveys quality.

Most Land Cruisers have a 3-row, 8-passenger interior layout, with the Heritage Edition having exclusive two-row seating. For 2021, third-row seating will be an available option on the Land Cruiser Heritage Edition. upfront the Land Cruiser's seats are comfortable and offer ample space. Similarly, the second row has a lot of room but the third row is best suited for kids. If you opt for the 2-row Heritage Edition, you get contrast bronze stitching on the seats and more cargo space.

That's not it, Land Cruiser's 8100 pounds of towing ability is more than competitive. the only downside is its below-average fuel economy and not fully modern infotainment system.
