2021 Toyota Hilux AT35 Revealed With Ford F-150 Raptor Rivalling Equipment

The Toyota-backed AT35 version starts as a 2.8-liter dual-cab version from the Invincible X trim. It walks into a couple of modifications to increase the vehicle's offroad credentials. For instance, the road clearance rises from 65 millimeters (2.6 inches) while departure and approach end increase from three and nine degrees, respectively.

Once it comes to transformed vehicles built to overwhelm practically anything, Arctic Trucks needs no introduction. They are building off-road-ready vehicles using huge tires and suspensions for three years now on Toyota trucks for a while now. The most famous venture being the modified Hilux which turned to be the first vehicle to reach the North Pole. Arctic Trucks took the latest version of the 2021 Hilux, which debuted in June this past year, and converted it into one hell of an off-roader. It can be considered as the Ford F-150 Raptor of the European market. And for those of you who aren't aware, the Hilux did sell in the U.S. before, until it was replaced by the Tacoma in 1995.

2021 Toyota Hilux AT 35: Powertrain

Power comes from the standard-fit four-cylinder 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine with 201 horsepower and an ample 369 lb-ft of torque. The torque and drivability are optimized with re-gearing of the front and rear differentials to make it more potent. It retains the original 3.5-tonne towing capacity as the standard pick-up.

2021 Toyota Hilux AT 35: Exterior Upgrades and Suspension

There are several chassis tweaks over the standard Toyota Hilux to make it capable of going anywhere, which include:

  • Adjustable anti-roll bars, uprated Bilstein dampers, and new suspension springs
  • Additional 40 mm (1.6 in) front and 20 mm (0.8 in) of suspension lift compared to the standard Toyota variant.
  • 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 35-inch BF Goodrich KO2 All-Terrain tires
  • Departure and approach end increase from three and nine degrees
  • Ground clearance has been increased by 65 mm

Though it is isn't all go without a show. Arctic Trucks has made a couple of cosmetic alterations, fitting more extensive side steps, unique AT35, and 30th-anniversary badges, and wider fenders to accommodate bigger wheels. There is a brand new back end, too, with a two-inch hitch that may undoubtedly allow attachments.

2021 Toyota Hilux AT 35: Interior

As it’s based on the Invincible X variant, the Hilux AT35 also comes as standard with an eight-inch infotainment system, perforated leather upholstery, an ambient lighting system, and an electrically adjustable driver’s seat. Buyers also get the standard pick-up’s upgraded JBL stereo, which comprises a 224mm subwoofer and an 800W amplifier. You also get artic badged front and rear floor mats.

2021 Toyota Hilux AT 35: Pricing and Warranty

The all-new Toyota-approved upgrade pack called AT35 marks the pickup truck getting comprehensive accessories to make it more competent off-road. It is available to order now, priced from $25,700. Though, it can only be specced on the range-topping Hilux Invincible X Double Cab automatic model – so, if you want the package on a new Hilux, you need a total of $86,000 to pay for it. Every Hilux AT35 is re-engineered to maintain Toyota’s 5-year /100,000-mile warranty.
