As a matter of fact, Tesla decided to make a move when Porsche revealed its Model S-rivalling Taycan, and Tesla CEO Elon Musk promised they would now take their Model S to the Nürburgring. And when those prototypes got finalized, Musk announced that they will be called the ‘Plaid’.

What powers the 2021 Tesla Model S Plaid?

A tri-motor all-wheel-drive setup will be driving the S Plaid. This shows you how far the model S has come since it started with a single motor powering the rear wheels when it was launched back in 2012. The 2021 Tesla Model S has a motor for each axle, hence an all-wheel-drive vehicle.

The third motor has many advantages and its not just more horsepower. Torque vectoring is one such advantage, which is the ability to control what wheels on opposites sides of the car are doing provides for some fascinating handling athleticism.

The Model S Plaid trumps the competition with its power figures. Though it is unclear that exactly which axle is using how many motors, but this three-motor setup will further also carried to the other Tesla cars like the Model X crossover and the scintillating Roadster.

How much Range will the Tesla Model S Plaid offer on a Single Charge?

Talking about the battery pack, the biggest battery pack you can get, say with the Models S and X is a 100 kWh unit. However, Elon has confirmed that the Tesla Model S Plaid will get a bigger battery pack. The Plaid reportedly will run out of juice after an excruciating range of 520 miles, according to Environmental Protection Agency.

Considering the extended range of 520 miles, the new Tesla Model S Plaid is all set to take on the all-new 2021 Lucid Air Electric Sedan, which claims an EPA verified range of 517 miles. The bookings for the all-new Tesla Model S Plaid have already started so don't wait up.

The Model S Plaid yet again leads with the (reported) EPA figures. Though there is no official number, it only makes sense than the charge capacity will be bigger as this is the first track-focused car by Tesla.

How does the Tesla Model S Plaid look?

Through the limited glimpses, you can ake out some changes that are pretty visible. First of all, it does look significantly different than a standard Model S, and second, most of the changes were seen on the prototypes, so the production model car may be a little different than what you have seen till now.

The fender flares are bigger so that it can accommodate larger tires, and possibly carbon-ceramic brakes inside them. The diffuser is enormous now and so is the splitter.

And if you think that is an eyeful, the rear wing is a massive unit, almost looks for a car bigger than the size of the Plaid. Though the configurator on Tesla's website suggests that the car will mostly look akin to the standard Model S.

Is the Interior of the Tesla Model S Plaid?

There is no news about any changes to the interiors than the standard 2021 Tesla Model S yet, but Tesla will probably look into making the interiors as extreme as the car really is. But for the sake of reference, you can stay assured that the interiors of the car will be roomy. The leather seats are comfortable enough for five people abreast.

Tesla would want to work on the material quality as it did not feel premium enough in the standard 2021 Tesla Model S. The leather seats are 12-way power-adjustable on the front, they can be heated when required.

The Model S Plaid interiors should have the same dimensions and should offer the same practicality as the standard Model S. Even in the rear, the seat comfort is above-par as in the front.

How Advanced is the Infotainment offered on the Tesla Model S Plaid?

Again, if the car will be based on the standard car, the infotainment setup will be pretty minimalistic and should carry on with the horizontal touchscreen as seen in the 2021 Model S. but Tesla has kept the cards close to its chest for this one, it is expected of them to do something great with the infotainment which they should.
