What are the trims, prices, and features of the 2021 Porsche Taycan 4S?

The Porsche Taycan 4S is offered as a standalone trim which encompasses all the goodies of being a Porsche and yet maintains a utilitarian side. This spectacular looking vehicle has features ranging from creature comforts to tell-tale Porsche signs that make the experience that much deeper. The Taycan 4S remains mostly unchanged for the model year 2021.

However, the company is now offering several additional features such as a head-up display, Smartlift function, plug & charge, and much more. While a couple of these new features are now offered as standard equipment, features such as Lane Active Lane Keep Assist, InnoDrive (adaptive cruise control), and Porsche Intelligent Range Manager can be purchased with the vehicle or can be had on a monthly subscription basis.

Ranging from feature upgrades to cosmetic updates, there is absolutely nothing that you will miss out on picking up for the Taycan when you step into customizing it.

Are there any powertrain updates for the 2021 Porsche Taycan 4S?

While its other siblings have long been powered by Flat-6 and V8s, the Porsche Taycan leaves that mentality at the door. The Taycan 4S is powered by two electric motors, one on each drive axle. Combined, these motors produce 429 hp along with 472 lb-ft of torque. Like BLDC motors, for a short burst of time, this power figure can jump up to 522 hp with the regular sized battery and can reach 563 hp with the bigger battery pack.

The front motor operates without any intervention while the rear motor uses a 2-speed automated manual. When compared to the millennial Tesla Model S, the Porsche Taycan seems out of its depth since the Model S is insanely more powerful than the Porsche and yet costs less. Along with that, it comes with a much more refined EV experience than the newest entrant Taycan.

How quickly can the 2021 Porsche Taycan 4S Accelerate from 0-60 MPH?

Electric cars are one of the fastest cars on the planet. This is because they do not need to reach a sweet spot in terms of RPMs to get access to the good stuff. It is available throughout the rev range on tap. Put the Porsche Taycan on an empty track and put the pedal to the metal, and you will literally be buried into your seat as the ride prances forward hurriedly.

The Porsche Taycan 4S takes 3.8 seconds to go from 0-60mph which is respectable for the most part but not as praiseworthy for an electric performance vehicle. The Model S has years of experience in its build and hence puts forth an exemplary 0-60 sprint time which is almost 1.5 seconds faster than the Porsche. A job well done indeed. Furthermore, it is worth noting that the Taycan 4S can touch a higher top speed than Tesla Model S.

What is the Range offered by the 2021 Porsche Taycan 4S?

For electric cars, the biggest pressing point is range anxiety. Thankfully, the fast charging capable Porsche Taycan 4S allows you to leave your fears at bay. Porsche claims that in its 800V charging infrastructure, the Taycan 4S can offer 60 miles of range in just 5 mins. Overall, the brand claims that the Taycan 4S can offer up to 280 miles under ideal conditions.

Though realistically, owners have reported the range to be between 228 to 225 miles which is still decent enough for an entrant. The pain point for the Taycan is that it remains out of bounds in comparison to the Tesla Model S which offers a much longer range after a full charge. And with the Tesla supercharger infrastructure laid out across the country, it will always find a charging station with ease.

What are the updates in the interior of the 2021 Porsche Taycan 4S?

The interiors of the Porsche Taycan 4S are very reminiscent of the 911 Carrera. Though there are differences, the entire build of the Taycan seems heavily inspired by its Sportster sibling. The steering wheel design is the same you see on the 911, and the leather upholstery on the dashboard and steering wheel gives it an uptown and exclusive vibe. There is a clock mounted at the center of the dashboard housing the mammoth touchscreen infotainment panel.

Move slightly further down and there is another gigantic screen that is responsible for controlling all the in-vehicular functions. The seats are comfortable for the front riders and the angle of reclination makes sure that you get a proper view at all times. The leather upholstery does not get hot even if you park it in the sun and there is ample room to move around until you get comfortable.

However, the rear seats of the Taycan 4S are a bit of a downer since they are more comfortable for the shorter people or kids due to the limited legroom. Speaking of space meant for stowing your luggage, the Tesla Model S takes the cake here yet again with a much bigger cargo compartment. Tesla has made an all-out impressive offering in the Model S and made sure that it impresses everyone with its family-friendly yet performance heavy approach.

If the standard interior features of the 2021 Porsche Taycan are not immersive enough for you, then you can pick up many more additional features from the customization menu. From the choice of upholstery to added functionality to the seats, there is a lot you can add to this little beast. A word of caution though is that prices shoot up pretty fast with the add-on accessories from Porsche, so pick only those which you absolutely need.

What are the infotainment updates in the 2021 Porsche Taycan 4S?

Being a Porsche, the Taycan 4S has made sure that you stay entertained and informed at all times. It comes with a giant 16.8-inch touchscreen and as surprising as it may seem, but the setup is quite encompassing and makes sure that you get all the necessities with this baby.

The one thing it misses out on is Android Auto which might be a disappointment for those who use Androids over iPhones. Some of the most prominent standard infotainment features of the 2021 Porsche Taycan are as follows:

  • Porsche Communication Management
  • Online Navigation with 3D map display and 3D navigation map
  • FM radio
  • Bluetooth with Streaming
  • Voice control with natural speech interaction, activation via “Hey Porsche”
  • Dynamic route calculation with online real-time traffic and
  • Route monitor for a clear overview of charging stops
  • Porsche Connect
  • Apple CarPlay
  • Remote Services
  • E-mobility services
  • Sound Package Plus with 10 Speakers and a Total Output of 150 Watts
  • SiriusXM Satellite Radio
  • HD Radio Receiver
  • 2 USB-C connectivity and charge ports in the center console
  • 2 USB-C Charge ports in the rear
  • Smartphone compartment with inductive charging
  • 16.8" curved display for the driver including external touchscreen control panels for lighting and chassis functions
  • Center console with Direct Touch Control
  • HomeLink programmable garage door opener

For those who take their music seriously, Porsche has you covered as well. You get the option to pick between a Bose Surround Sound system, and if you want to take things further, a Burmester 3D High-End Surround Sound System is also available.

What are the exterior design changes for the 2021 Porsche Taycan 4S?

One look at the Porsche Taycan 4S and you will notice the silhouette of the previous generation 911 creeping through. Though it follows a very distinctive design scheme when looked at as a standalone, it maintains the age-old Porsche spice throughout. The streamlined body with its sleek lines and curves in the right places makes sure that it remains the timeless piece that Porsche made it to be.

The front comes with teardrop-inspired LED headlights which is quite a different approach to building the front when you consider that it's a Porsche. Continue over to the back, and a single continuous LED beam is put in place just that the end of the roofline to function as the tail lamp.

A charging compartment is provided on either side of the car and is a big convenience since you don’t have to worry about which side you should be oriented in to make sure the battery charges. To take things up a notch, Porsche offers a lot of customization options to let you build the perfect Taycan for yourself which can easily stand out in a crowd of gas guzzler supercars.

What are the advanced safety features in the 2021 Porsche Taycan 4S?

The folks at Porsche do know their trade of building cars fairly well. And along with that, they also know how to make these vehicles safe. And so, the Porsche Taycan comes with a very decent safety suite that makes sure the passengers are safe at all times. The notable features of this setup are:
