The all-new Nissan Ariya is an all-electric SUV aimed at the likes of Tesla Model Y, Jaguar I-Pace and even Audi E-Tron. With a starting price of $40,000, without any federal or state tax credits, the Ariya is capable of delivering more than the 300-mile range for the 2WD model. Nissan also debuts a new redesigned logo with the new Ariya crossover. Nissan’s Ariya will arrive at US shores in mid-2021.

Nissan has finally unwrapped its first all-electric crossover SUV - Nissan Ariya, which lets you travel up to a range of 300 miles per charge. Staying largely true to the concept, the Ariya gets 63 KWh and 87 kWh battery options, the choice of all-wheel-drive (badged e-4ORCE), and two-wheel drive (2WD) variants. For connectivity and entertainment, also included are twin 12.3-inch touchscreens and capacitive touch controls with haptic feedback, replacing physical buttons. Nissan's Combined Charging System (CCS) enables fast-charging in Ariya. The all-new Ariya EV from Nissan is scheduled to go on sale in the U.S. in the second-half of 2021, at a starting price of around $40,000.

Know More About Nissan Ariya

Following the suit with Volkswagen and BMW, Nissan also revealed the redesigned logo with the 2021 Ariya electric crossover. It is the first vehicle to feature the modern-looking, flat design logo which will expand to Nissan’s future models. Nissan's Ariya is a blend of electrification and advanced driver-assist technologies like ProPilot 2.0, serving up to Level 3 automation which is at par with Cadillac's Super Cruise. Ariya's ProPilot 2.0 allows drivers an opportunity to go hands-free on certain roads. The automaker will produce the zero-emission high-riding model at its Tochigi assembly plant.

What are the Powertrain details of the 2021 Nissan Ariya?

The all-new Nissan Ariya will be available in four different variants. These two-wheel-drive or first-off e-4ORCE all-wheel-drive versions can be configured with either the standard 63 kWh or 87 kWh long-range battery options. AWD models will feature Nissan's new e-4ORCE system, which is essentially the torque split system borrowed from the Nissan's GT-R sports car.

Ariya's all-electric drivetrain differentiates itself from Nissan Leaf's front-wheel-drive single motor setup. Nissan claims the Ariya Standard trim will have around 214 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque, while the e-4ORCE All-Wheel-Drive trims will have an output of 389 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque. The e-Pedal allows the driver to start, accelerate and decelerate using only the accelerator pedal, making it more fun to drive.

The twin-electric motors allow the AWD Ariya to go from zero to 60 MPH in less than 5.0 seconds. Now, that is sports car level performance coming from an SUV. The “e-4ORCE” all-wheel control system not only allows a powerful performance but balances it with a smooth and comfortable ride.

How much Range will the 2021 Nissan Ariya offer on a Single Charge?

The 87KWh of usable battery capacity allows the long-range Ariya models in a two-wheel drive to deliver more than 300 miles of range on a single charge. This feat is much better than the Leaf's maximum range of 226 miles. Even the likes of Jaguar's I-Pace and Audi E-Tron have 234 and 204 miles of range respectively.

The Ariya Standard with a smaller 63 kWh battery in the four-wheel-drive model is still not the worst-range scenario with 260 miles of range. The affordable EV achieves this feat with the new water-cooled battery control system, allowing for quick 130 kW charging. This is a DC fast charging unit that can add more than 200 miles of range in less than 30 minutes.

How Attractive is the Exterior of the 2021 Nissan Ariya?

Built on an all-new electric platform, the 2022 Ariya showcases Nissan’s futuristic branding and cultural transformation. The Ariya features the 3-D Japanese Kumiko pattern grille with the redesigned Nissan logo, illuminated using 20 LED lights.

The V-motion grille gets the spotlight from the southward aiming LED running lights. On the rear, the raked C-pillar and blacked-out one-piece light blade looks exciting. Nissan offers a total of six two-tone exterior paint choices, each with a black roof and that signature Copper paint.

All in all, the Ariya SUV carries forward a design not overcrowded with clean and linear lines that are evident on most Nissan cars but with a more futuristic approach. There are several hints all over to make it clear that this one is not your everyday gasoline-powered SUV.

Is the Interior of the 2021 Nissan Ariya Innovative?

Nissan's new design language representing "Timeless Japanese Futurism" makes its way inside the all-new Ariya SUV's futuristic and minimal cockpit. Nissan Ariya'a cabin is very spacious, thanks to the new EV platform that allows for a flat floor and sliding center console that adds a few inches.

The Ariya seats five comfortably and the cabin is graced by thin profile signature Zero Gravity seats from Nissan, for driver and passenger alike. Furthermore, the ergonomic climate control components are not only easy to access but their compact built adds to the overall room. Ariya's lounge-like interior is welcoming, thanks to the serene ambiance created by the glowing lantern inside.

Its interior dimensions are four inches shorter in length and height in comparison with the Nissan Rogue but are more than three inches wider at the same time. Comparatively, Nissan Ariya does offer a more spacious interior than most other unconventional SUVs of this segment.

How Advanced is the Infotainment offered on the 2021 Nissan Ariya?

Nissan Ariya's cabin features a wide one-piece infotainment screen and instrument panel, stretching across the dash. The large 12.3-inch large dual-display infotainment systems can be easily controlled via touch, a natural voice-recognition system and controls with haptic feedback. All of the information on these displays can be customized as per users' needs. With in-built Amazon Alexa, you can play music or find different locations using your voice.

For more flexibility, Ariya comes with standard smartphone mirroring technology including Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The system also supports over-the-air updates. This EV features Nissan's Door-to-Door Navigation, which allows drivers to plan the route on their phone that automatically syncs with Ariya's infotainment display. Through the Nissan app, the driver stays connected with Ariya at all times. This allows the SUV to keep pace with the driver's schedule and pre-heat or pre-cool the interiors, as per the weather, while it's parked and charging.

What modern Safety and Driver-Assistance Technology does the 2021 Nissan Ariya get?

Nissan equips the 2021 Ariya lineup with standard Nissan SafetyShield 360 suite of safety features which includes Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Automatic Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and High Beam Assist. To further ease the drive, Ariya features Nissan's Intelligent Around View Monitor, Intelligent Forward Collision Warning along with other technologies.

Nissan's Ariya EV is equipped with the next-generation ProPILOT Assist 2.0. This driver-assistance system uses driver attention monitoring to enable hands-off single-lane highway operation. Drivers can use their smartphone to park the Ariya automatically from a nearby location using ProPilot's Remote Park, a system similar to Tesla's Smart Summon feature.

Is the 2021 Nissan Ariya worth Buying?

There doesn't seem to be any reason as to why one should not buy this SUV when it is launched sometime during the summer of 2021. For a starting price of somewhere around $40,000, the Nissan Ariya appears to be an extremely value for money package. It looks good, offers more than a decent range and has the latest in safety and driver-assistance technologies. So far, this is all that is expected out of an EV and the Ariya SUV totally justifies itself.
