You very well know what a “normal” Ranger can pull off off-road wise. But if you cannot do “much” with it. There’s a hardcore off-road package “Tremor” released by Ford, which would spruce up the “regular” Ranger into a very capable and worthy off-roader. That also improves the level of things it can take along. More payload, better-towing capacity, and that don’t hamper the everyday useability of the “usual” Ranger. And we are serious, it goes beyond the “FX-4 Off-Road package".
Know more about the Ford Ranger Tremor:
- Everything you need to know about the Tremor Package
- Before the Tremor, it was these two packages that made the Ranger off-road ready.
- Now you can own a Ford Ranger for as low as $20,000.
“Tremor gives Ranger customers a new level of off-road confidence and fun… ...With increased ground clearance, an off-road-tuned suspension, and aggressive Continental General Grabber tires, Tremor elevates Ranger’s off-roading capability even further while keeping the unique advantages that come with a cargo box for hauling gear anywhere.” -Chad Callander, Ford Ranger marketing manager
Ford Ranger Tremor package equipment on offer
- Lifted suspension
- Redesigned Front Knuckles
- 32-inch Continental General Grabber™ A/TX all-terrain tires
- New 17-inch Magnetic-painted wheels
- 9.7 inches of ground clearance (0.8 inches more than the base Ranger SuperCrew 4x4)
- Off-Road tuned FOX 2.0 monotube dampers and rear piggyback reservoirs
- Multi-leaf rear spring setup
- Six-switch auxiliary power pack to manage accessories
- Twin rear recovery hooks
The suspension in the Tremor package is all spruced up to take the beating. Added with bigger tires and wheels there is a significant gain in ground clearance by almost an inch. Anti-roll bar stiffness has been reduced to minimize disruption over rough terrain and improve comfort off-road.
The suspension is specially tuned to provide a comfortable ride on the road which usually gets sacrificed in lieu of off-road settings. The tremor package boosts the off-road ability statistics. A 30.9-degree approach angle, up by 2.2 degrees, 25.5 departure angle, and 24.2-degree break-over angle which is up by 2.7-degree. Suspension travel on the front is now 6.5 inches and 8.1 inches on the rear. It can now tackle challenging terrain with ease, without a doubt.
Adding to all this, the Tremor also includes a frame-mounted steel front bash plate and underbody skid plates, rear locking differential, Terrain Management System with four drive modes, and Trail Control. Also adding to the utility two new recovery hooks are offered in the rear, in addition to the two upfront. It takes a wider profile thanks to the Tremor-specific General Grabber all-terrain tires, wheels, and wider wheel lip moldings. And you step in it with help of hoop steps, how cool is that?
