Bentley has updated the top-rung Speed variant of its Bentayga SUV in line with the facelifted standard 2021 car, bringing new styling, a revamped interior and efficiency-boosting powertrain technology. The 2021 Bentayga Speed is now your only option if you want a Bentayga with a W12, as the big mill is no longer available on the regular SUV. Its prices will be known closer to when the 2021 Bentley Bentayga Speed is made available for sale towards the end of 2020.

2021 Bentley Bentayga Speed Latest Updates:

The 2021 Bentayga Speed receives its much deserved mid-cycle facelift in line with the standard Bentley Bentayga model, which means the old Speed goes out of production after only a year on the market. Changes are similar to those seen on the regular model, while drivetrain specs remain unchanged. It now becomes the only Bentayga SUV to feature a 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged W12 under the hood that produces 626 horsepower.

Claimed to be the world's fastest SUV, the 2021 Bentley Bentayga Speed is good enough for a 3.9-second 0-60 mph sprint with a maximum Top speed of 190 mph. This slots it right adjacent to the Lamborghini Urus. With revised styling and added comfort, Bentayga Speed becomes more competitive to Rolls-Royce Cullinan. Given its combination of performance and luxury coupled with off-road capability, the Bentayga Speed is in a class of its own.

How much is the Price of the 2021 Bentley Bentayga Speed?

Bentley hasn't outed prices for the 2021 Bentayga Speed yet, but we would expect a price bump on the outgoing model's $235,700 MSRP. Bentley has refreshed the new Bentayga which almost certifies the expectations. As far as availability is concerned, it’ll be available soon after the standard V8 Bentayga begins arriving at Bentley dealerships until later in the year.

The Bentayga Speed's W12 ups the ante in terms of power as well as styling. It has large oval exhaust tailpipes and increased choice of trims and leather colors, and the Mulliner Driving Specification with diamond-quilted seats. The Speed also gets the body-color Styling Specification, 22-inch Speed wheels, and enhanced Sport mode software.

What Engine is under the hood of the 2021 Bentley Bentayga Speed?

Bentley's W12 engine is no more an option with regular 2021 Bentayga but is only limited to the new Bentayga Speed. The 2021 Bentley Bentayga either comes with a 443-hp hybrid drivetrain with a turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 and an electric motor or a 542-hp twin-turbo V-8 engine.

The 626 hp W12 motor has been reserved exclusively for the Bentayga Speed now. Along with so much power and 664 lb-ft torque, the Bentayga Speed has four drive settings controlled through a drive mode selector, ranging from Comfort to Sport. Like the standard SUV, the Speed adopts Bentley's new 48V electronic active roll control system for flatter cornering.

It works alongside a retuned torque-vectoring system to improve responsiveness. The standard brakes are steel rotors, but Bentley offers as an option carbon-ceramic rotors, the largest that the automaker makes. This optional system provides ample stopping force with the capability of withstanding temperatures of up to 1000 deg Celcius.

How fast can the 2021 Bentley Bentayga Speed Accelerate from 0-60 MPH?

As before, the updated 2021 Bentayga Speed has a 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged W12 under the hood that produces 626 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque. That’s good enough for a 3.8-second 0-60 mph sprint. Top speed hasn’t changed from before at 190 mph, making it the world's fastest SUV, though the Lamborghini Urus has questions to ask.

What MPG Figures are expected from the 2021 Bentley Bentayga Speed?

Not that it makes a lot of difference, but the Benteyga Speed is comparatively more fuel-efficient than the Urus and Cullinan. With an unchanged drivetrain for the 2021 model year, the Bentley Speed is expected to return a gas mileage of 15 mpg in mixed driving conditions. The W12's MPG ratings are behind the Bentley V8's 14 mpg city, 23 mpg highway, and 17 mpg combined

With a gas tank size of 22.5 gallons, the W12's cruising range is around 315 miles. Although power output remains unchanged, Bentley's new cylinder-deactivation technology is claimed to bring “significant economic gains under part-throttle cruising conditions”. Additionally, the large SUV now offers a coasting functionality, which disconnects the engine from the gearbox at cruising speed to minimize fuel consumption.

What's changed on the 2021 Bentley Bentayga Speed's Exterior Styling?

Bentley has tweaked the 2021 Bentayga Speed's exterior styling in line with the refreshed Bentayga V8, which is mostly inspired by the Continental GT and the Flying Spur. The revised Bentayga Speed also boasts elliptical light designs, a large ‘matrix’ grille, and a clamshell hood. The changes may not be very obvious at first glance, so let's dive into details.

Upfront, the fenders are reshaped for a sportier look, and headlights are designed with a "cut crystal glassware" design while the rear drops the current square-shaped taillights for the oval design seen on the latest Continental GT. The Bentayga's bumper sports more notable changes, as the side vents are taller now, while the center vent no longer extends toward the corners.

Dimensionally unchanged, the 2021 Bentayga Speed is marked out by tinted headlights, dark trim details, a bespoke body kit, 22-inch wheels, and a larger spoiler than the standard car. An optional Black Specification styling package replaces all chrome trim elements with chrome or carbon fiber items, including the front splitter, side sills, wheels, and rear diffuser.

What the changes inside the 2021 Bentley Bentayga Speed's Interior Layout?

The 2021 Bentayga Speed's cabin is largely identical to that of the standard Bentayga. The interior of Bentayga comes with a facelift too and Bentley equips the Speed with brand-new seats, revised door panels, a new steering wheel, and a new, larger infotainment display that measures 10.9 inches. The sportier Bentayga features optional Alcantara upholstery, brightly colored contrasting accents throughout, and a ‘Speed’ badge on the seats.

Staying true to its luxury branding, the Bentayga's cabin is filled with rich leathers, real wood trim, and glitzy metal accents. As always, Bentley allows buyers to customize just about everything. There's the four-seat configuration with two second-row seats, the classic five-seat layout with a rear bench, and the seven-seat version with two additional seats in the trunk section. The Bentayga Speed's cargo area is generous, at least in two-row versions.

The updated Bentayga Speed now features a fully digital instrument cluster and the screen is now integrated into the center stack just below the redesigned air vents and above a larger control panel for the A/C system. Though comparatively, the Rolls-Royce Cullinan does a slightly better job concerning the interiors.

What are Infotainment updates on the 2021 Bentley Bentayga Speed?

The 2021 Bentayga Speed adopts Bentley's new 10.9inch central infotainment touchscreen, upgraded infotainment software, wireless smartphone compatibility, and a digital instrument cluster. The navigation system is also improved with three-dimensional building displays. That's a welcome improvement over the previous eight-inch display that lacked Android Auto.

An inbuilt sim card slot allows you to access an array of online services without connecting a phone. There’s plenty of new techs as well, including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, USB-C outlets, and a bigger and faster tablet for the rear seats. Like the outgoing Bentayga, the 2021 model gets an optional Bentley Signature Audio system or an 18-speaker Naim. An updated rear entertainment system is also available.

Is the 2021 Bentley Bentayga Speed a Safe car?

The Bentayga is based on the same VW platform as the Audi Q7 and the Porsche Cayenne, which exhibit extremely safe travel. Though neither NHTSA nor IIHS has crash-tested Speed for its crashworthiness, Bentley gives the 2021 Bentayga more standard safety features.

Like the outgoing Bentayga, you can access a range of driver-assist safety features by opting for the City or Touring Specifications. The former adds a top-view camera, city safeguard, reversing traffic warning, park assist, traffic sign recognition, and pedestrian warning. The Touring Specification package includes lane assist, traffic assist, a head-up display, night vision, and adaptive cruise control.

Is the 2021 Bentley Bentayga Speed worth Buying?

Bentley offers speed, space, sumptuousness, and track-focussed performance in the Bentayga Speed, making it a significant contender in the ultraluxury SUV segment. Recommending it to the buyers needs no reconsiderations. Yes, a lot of Bentley's exclusivity is incomparable. The Rolls-Royce Cullinan is even more expensive and more comfortable for the rear occupant but Bentayga's driving experience is supreme. With the 2021 update, Bentley has almost nullified all the gripes enthusiasts had with Bentayga Speed.
