The A6 also gets a Black optic sport package, which adds in black exterior accents all around. Having said that, let's read a bit more into these changes, shall we?

What are the Trims and New Features in the 2021 Audi A6?

Audi has updated the 2021 A6 lineup by adding more features in all of the three trim levels in addition to making a Black Optic appearance package available across the 2021 Audi A6 range, including the 2021 A6 Allroad. Other than this appearance package, a Black Optic Sport Package also adds a sport suspension for the sedan. Audi says the 2021 A6 sedan should arrive at dealerships by December 2020.

Most interestingly, Audi keeps the change in the price of the updated 2021 Audi A6 minimal compared to the 2020 model year. The Audi 2021 A6 prices start from an MSRP of $54,900, for the base Premium trim, badged 45 TFSI. The six-cylinder engine option will cost you $4900 more on every trim, badged 55 TFSI. Next-in-line Premium Plus starts at an MSRP of $58,800 while the top-spec Prestige trim, which is now available only with the 55 TFSI option starts off at an MSRP of $69,500. With additional features fitted as standard on various trim levels for no major price increase, the 2021 A6 sounds like the more sensible choice. The Audi A6 range has expanded with the revival of two significant nameplates, the S6, and A6 Allroad wagon, for the 2020 model year which are also spruced up in a few ways. The Black optic sport package is now available across the lineup and adds black optic exterior accents, 20-inch bi-color wheels with all-season tires, and sport suspension.

How does the 2021 Audi A6 fare on the Engine and Performance front?

The 2021 A6's two powertrains, the base 248 hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, and a 335 hp turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 continue to power the mid-size sedan. A seven-speed automatic dual-clutch gearbox and Audi's Quattro all-wheel-drive are both standards. Audi distinguishes the performance of the two powertrains by naming the basic A6 engine - 45 TFSI, which puts 248 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque in the sedan. The bigger V6 engine on the 2021 A6 is badged 55 TFSI and puts out 335 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. Both powertrains are aided by a mild hybrid system with a 12- or 48-volt starter/alternator.

The Audi A6 comes with mild-hybrid EV (MHEV) technology that uses a trunk-mounted lithium-ion battery, powering the silky-smooth automatic restarts. During normal driving, the battery recharges itself. Riding the Audi A6 is smooth like butter. The recently added driver aids make the 2021 Audi A6 and ideal sedan to ride comfortably in the city or highway. With the adaptive cruise control, the car is good for cornering and command in city travel.

In terms of acceleration, the V6 powered A6 sprints from 0-60 mph in 5.0 seconds, almost a second quicker than the A6 45 TFSI sedan. The A6's drivetrain comprising of Quattro and slick 7-speed DCT gearbox work exceptionally in sync. The 2021 A6 is quick, still can't beat the key rivals including BMW 5-Series and the Volvo S90, solely because the 2021 S90 has the segment-best torque figures of the bunch.

How fast is the 2021 Audi A6 from 0-60 MPH?

The 2021 Audi A6 with its 2.0L turbocharged engine can make a sprint from 0-60 MPH in an impressive 6.1 seconds, whereas the 2021 A6 Sport 45 TFSI with its 261 hp turbocharged engine can take that figure to below 6. This astonishing figure is a result of the S Tronic 7-Speed DCT that delivers quick shifts all the while balancing both performance and efficiency at the same time.

Although the main star kid on the block is the 2021 RS6 Avant, as for an MSRP of $109,000, the RS6 is able to go from 0-60 MPH in a mind-boggling 3.5 seconds, all thanks to its 591 hp twin-turbocharged engine. The 45 A6 does the quarter-mile run in 16.5 seconds all the while achieving a top speed of 153 MPH.

All of the cars have more or less the same acceleration times, as they all have about the same amount of power figures. Volvo S90, on the other hand, is slightly more faster than the rest of the segment, as its torque figures kick in quite early across the rev band.

What MPG Figures does the 2021 Audi A6 deliver?

The EPA has evaluated the 2021 A6 with its V6 engine, giving it a gas mileage rating of 21 mpg in the city and 27 mpg out on the highway. The basic 2.0L powered Inline-4 engine of the 2021 Audi A6, badged 45 TFSI, is rated at 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. Considering Audi’s standard Quattro all-wheel drive, the A6 sedan is a fuel-efficient saloon in comparison to direct rivals.

Range (City/Highway/Combined; Miles)  463/618/463 400/557/485 343/468/390 334/493/397

Audi equips the 2021 A6 with a 19.3-gallon gas tank that delivers a range of more than 500 miles on a single refill. Compared to the A6 Allroad wagon consuming 4.5 gallons per 100 miles, the sedan needs 4.2-gallon gas per 100 miles. The results put the A6 ahead of the Benz (23 mpg) combined MPG ratings. Nevertheless, the 2021 BMW 5-Series is the most frugal car off the lot.
