Don't be tricked by Mercedes-Benz's outcry that, for the first time, the E-Class All-Terrain wagon is being added to the U.S lineup. It was, sort of, already here in the form of the nearly identical E450 station wagon. That lower-slung, un-fender-clad E-Class wagon is being exchanged for the E450 All-Terrain here in the United States. It's hard to say whether the E450 All-Terrain will make customers fall in love again with the station wagon.

Those who like wagons will surely appreciate what Mercedes has done here. The 2021 Mercedes E-Class All-Terrain will feature a 3.0L Inline-6 turbo engine with EQ Boost, with the assistance adding an extra 21-hp. The overall output comes out to be 362 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. Pricing for the 2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain starts from $69,000.

There's no denial to the fact that Mercedes caters to a wide variety of vehicle utility, and the "Three-Pointed Star" seems to finer its grip in utility and practicality, yet leaves no stone unturned in instilling a buyer's crowd towards it. With style and safety in abundance, the E-Class All-Terrain inspires adventure in any driver. A suspension lift and rugged body cladding make Mercedes's latest non-AMG E-class wagon a compelling alternative to a luxury crossover.

The 2021 Mercedes E-Class All-Terrain E 450 Wagon will have many rivals in the segments, German colleagues who would love to suppress the best details; some of these rivals are Audi A6 Allroad, Volvo V90, and Jaguar XF Sportbrake.

2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Wagon Exterior

9.0/10

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain Wagon is set to have various cosmetic upgrades for the facelift. Yet the long and wide body of the Merc wagon will remain bold yet innocent from the front fascia. The Merc emblem has been taken out and replaced by badging on the same nerves, the 3-point star emblem. The body stance is undoubtedly a head-turner, and the simplistic design line travels from front to rear uninterruptedly.

2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Wagon Third Quarter View

The front fascia cherishes the signature Pan American grille, with a double slatted grille that brings back the determined character appeal with flared headlights. The rear fits another Three-Pointed star emblem, in between, the slim yet wide LED tail lights and chrome finish exhausts.

Other exterior highlights include 18-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels, 245/45R18 front and rear, all-season tires, Comfort suspension with selective damping system, Optional Panorama Sunroof, Optional Chrome Accent Grille in Luxury Body Styling Package, Optional Air Body Control Suspension System, Optional Gloss black exterior mirror housings and Optional LED Intelligent Light system Headlamps.

2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Wagon Safety

9.9/10

Mercedes and safety go hand in hand, and talking about the German giant's advancement in safety features will be beating around the bush. The 2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain Wagon is yet to be tested by esteem institutes like NHTSA or IIHS. However, the 2020 E-Class station wagon received perfect 5-star ratings by the NHTSA, while the IIHS has not crash-tested the wagon, but it has crash-tested the saloon, which earned itself the IIHS Top Safety Pick+.

Various features speak the depth of safety and driver assistance importance to the German brand. These include Car-to-X Communication, Mercedes-Benz Emergency Call Service, Active Brake Assist, Attention Assist, Crosswind Assist, Blind Spot Assist, Pre-Safe and Pre-Safe Sound, A 9-way airbag protection system, Anti Lock Braking System (ABS) with brake assist, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Aluminum and high-strength steel body structure, Antitheft alarm system with remote panic feature and Parking Damage Detector.

2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Wagon Competition

2021 Mercedes Benz E-Class All-Terrain E 450 Wagon vs. 2021 Audi A6 All-road

Both German wagons are dynamic and relatively fun driving, whatever road it turns to, and the opulent cabins are well featured with elegance and a decent finish. So how do we compare the two German rivals? The Merc wagon weighs 300 lbs more than the Audi, has an extra 30-hp, and is almost the same quick speeding to 60 mph from a standstill. But if ruggedness and aggressiveness are two must elements in the appearance, the Audi will take the trophy from Mercedes's hands.

2020 Audi A6 Allroad

2021 Mercedes Benz E-Class All-Terrain E 450 Wagon vs. 2021 Volvo V90

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain Wagon can be a top-jewel in-cabin front. Yet, the Volvo V90 rival is a more practical buy, with its aesthetic appeal and much economic engine, that though feels under power, would last more miles than the Merc wagon. Yet the Volvo V90 has stiffer ride quality and comes nowhere near the Merc wagon’s buttery feel. Finally, the Mercedes is a better ride, just weld a bigger fuel tank at its side.

2020 Volvo V90

2021 Mercedes Benz E-Class All-Terrain E 450 Wagon vs. 2021 Jaguar XF Sportbrake

For a start, the Jag wagon is way under power to the Merc wagon and has two seats less in the cabin. The Jag has different styles taste both inside out, and the British accents are comparably less opulent than the Germans. The ride quality of the Mercedes can easily outshine the Jag. Any more fronts yet to cover, the Mercedes will come out as a winner for sure,

 2020 Jaguar XF Sportbrake

2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Wagon Final Verdict

8.9/10

So the climax, the final verdict, the 2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain Wagon story comes with butterfly comfort and ride quality with enhanced driving and handling capabilities. The speculated facelift will have minor tweaks, but not much significant on the exterior. The comfort and opulence are segment-leading, yet the Mercedes might disappoint in terms of fuel economy.
