The main difference here is the price, where the S63 and the BMW ALPINA B7 xDrive Sedan lie in the same court, at a difference of  $30,000, while the Audi S8 is much cheaper. The 3 share the same engine dynamics but the S63 victors in luxury driving and a more powerful engine. On the other side, the competition stays neutral amongst the trio when we consider power.

Acceleration

AMG S63 is known for its elite luxurious standards, it's not the type of car you want to race in. Still, if someone wants to try, the car will not disappoint, at least in a straight line. The 4matic superpower infuses so much torque in all the wheels that it can dash from 0 to 60mph in an impressive 3.4 seconds.

The AMG S63 leaps ahead to compete with Audi S8 with the S63 just a hair back. BMW, on the other hand, stays back and lets the two compete with the 0.3-second difference. On a quarter mile run, the S63 overcomes this adversity and stands right next to S8 plus. The BMW still lags behind with a 0.3-second difference.

Handling

The 2017 Mercedes AMG S63 has secured its place as a precisely handling car. The buyer gets the standard S-Class air suspension too. Although there is a slight room for car roll, the overall experience is just awesome. However, at high speeds, it might break predictability and response. The car is more focused towards comfort rather than precise handling.

Braking

The AMG S63 enters this aspect with similar intensity and enthusiasm. The carbon ceramic brakes enhance the braking performance and halt the car at once. It comes with a feature for detecting obstructions and deploying brakes automatically, if required, which is quite impressive. The coupe takes about 156 feet to reach a halt from 60 mph.

Amongst the trio, the BMW shines as the real winner by coming to a complete halt within 151 feet from 60 to 0 mph, followed by Audi S8 Plus and the AMG S63. The 4,700lbs. of curb weight lands the S63 at second position in curb weight, with BMW at 4,820lbs and Audi weighing about 4,685 pounds to be precise.

2017 Mercedes-Benz AMG S 63 Coupe Fuel Economy

The makers of the new S63 features high standards of fuel efficiency. Turns out, it's not a brag after all, the car displays an impressive 17/27 MPG in city/ highway. Topping with a combined mileage of 21MPG, making the 2017 AMG S63 a truly fuel-efficient car. The fuel economy figures are decent for the segment.

Both Audi S6 Plus and BMW ALPINA B7 xDrive fall behind with a combined mileage of 18.5 and 20 MPG, respectively. The S63 is the best in terms of fuel economy amongst the trio. This higher mpg on offer will have you cruising longer with the same amount of fuel and will be lighter on your pocket at the end of the day.

2017 Mercedes-Benz AMG S 63 Coupe Interior

9.9/10

Being an S-Class, the car has to ace this aspect, and it graciously does that. The seats are beautifully cloaked in Nappa leather, and the overall interior looks like a high-tech spacecraft. Other than that, the standard ventilated seats, massage function, and 12-way power adjustment are some of the real value for money features. The Mercedes has been pretty generous when it comes to interior space, still, the coupe roofline can create a little trouble for tall people with the 36.7 inches of headroom space. The front headroom space on the S63 is more than the competition, while the rear headroom space is considerably lower than the both the S8 Plus and the BMW ALPINA B7 xDrive.

The interior that has been built around the seats of the S63 has been built as if a science-fiction fantasy has been brought to life. The colorways used, the screen, vents, and everything involved integrates very well with each other. The interior doesn’t just look pleasing to the eyes but also serves the purpose of providing comfort and convenience to the occupants. Cargo

The cargo space is considerably lesser than its sedan counterpart. The total cargo volume has gotten reduced to 14.1 cubic feet. The optional package comes with a polyethylene cargo tray which helps to protect your cargo mat from spillage and can be dusted separately. Even though small, it should be enough to cover the luggage of two occupants, and that of shopping sprees.

The AMG S63 is out of the league in terms of cargo space. Both S63 and Audi share the same cargo volume. BMW ALPINA B7 xDrive being a massive sedan, wins by 4 units. So, you will either have to have your employees take care of your luggage or will have to get yourself a roof rack if you want to put the S63 against the BMW.

2017 Mercedes-Benz AMG S 63 Coupe Exterior

9.9/10

A lot of things have changed for the new S63. The design is more refined than the old S63. The biggest improvement would be the new OLED taillights, alongside slight changes in the front and the rear bumpers. But the most notable change comes with the new Panamericana front grille. To sum up, the new AMG S63 is surely an improvement in terms of design.

2017 Mercedes-Benz AMG S 63 Coupe Competition

2017 Mercedes S63 AMG Coupe vs. Audi A8 Plus

The new Mercedes-Benz AMG S63 wins in many aspects, but the price is not one of them. Audi A8 Plus comes on a reduced $30,000 and is a lucrative deal for the buyer. Right from direct handling to superior comfort, Audi brings true value for your money. Even the infotainment features are more intuitive in the A8 Plus. Apparently luxury is the only thing where the S63 wins. So, if you want the best bang for your buck, go for the A8 Plus, but if you are a person willing to invest in experiences, then the 2017 Mercedes-Benz AMG S63 is your car.

2017 Mercedes S63 AMG Coupe vs. BMW ALPINA B7 xDrive-

The BMW ALPINA B7 xDrive is offered at an overlapping price with the AMG S63, which makes it a perfect rival. The S63 wins in almost every aspect, better acceleration, handling, and an enhanced drive experience, which makes the S63 the obvious choice. The BMW has larger legroom and headroom, but it's manageable as the space in the AMG S63 is more than enough. There are no fractions or difficult decisions, AMG S63 is just the better car.

2017 Mercedes-Benz AMG S 63 Coupe Final Verdict

With the creme de la creme as the targeted demographic, the people at the Mercedes's AMG division painstakingly created a meticulous piece of automotive that transcends boundaries defined by us. With AMG doing their thing with a standard Merc, they manage to spruce up the performance aspect of this luxury cabin on wheels.
