The compact and elegant first-gen Mercedes-Benz AMG GLC 63 SUV is set to return once again this year as a 2021 model, albeit with some minor retouches here and there. Mercedes claims that this SUV has been one of their top-selling models in America, and we do not find many reasons for disputing it. The GLC, being a compact SUV, has been quite successful in balancing its level of comfort, luxury, and technology with its practicality and spaciousness. And with the AMG badging, all these traits combine superbly with some great on-road performance, resulting in one of the most desirable SUVs in the segment.

The 2021 Mercedes AMG GLC 63 would be competing with the likes of the BMW X3 M, the Audi SQ5, the Porsche Macan, and the Jaguar F-Pace SVR. Mercedes has also declared the price for the upcoming model to be almost the same as the previous one, a reasonable $73,900 MSRP.

How comfortable is the 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLC 63?

The first thing we look for in an SUV is its interior space, comfort, and practicality. The 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 undoubtedly possesses all those, coupled with some impressive set of features and technologies. On opening the doors, you’d immediately notice the high-quality materials all around the cabin. The rich wood or carbon-fiber detailing works perfectly with the leather-trimmed interior to give the cabin a premium appearance. The center console and steering wheel have almost all the controls you may need throughout your ride, and each one is quite conveniently placed around the driver. The top-stitched MB-Tex dash and door trims look magnificent, while the AMG performance steering wheel with Nappa leather wrappings feels great to hold. The cabin of the 2021 AMG GLC 63 is brilliantly laid out, with a performance-inspired cockpit and extremely luxurious setting.

Matching at every level with the overall premium nature of the cabin, the seats are as comfortable as elegant. The front sports seats provide a good amount of bolstering and come with several adjustment positions including 4-way lumbar. There is also adjustable thigh support, and the seats get a 3-times memory option. Heated front seats are standard while ventilated seats are available. With an optional AMG performance seat package, the GLC becomes entirely equipped for being taken to the tracks with all the large bolsters, AMG badging, and integrated head-restraints.

At the rear, the 40/20/40 split seats are equally comfortable and accommodating. The rear outboard seats also come with three levels of heat options. There is a good amount of space for three passengers, and the cabin height allows tall people to seat quite comfortably. Interior comfort is further enhanced by some innovative technologies and the car-maker’s attention to detail. Stuff like the AMG illuminated front door sills, brushed aluminum pedals, or the deep-tinted privacy glasses make the SUV really attractive.

This is the area on which an SUV is largely judged, and to be honest, the 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 stumbles a bit in this regard. The GLC’s trunk holds around 17.6 cubic-feet of cargo, which is quite low in comparison to an SUV. The rear seats are 40/20/40 split-folding, and they fold down completely to raise the capacity to around 40.6 behind the front seats.

The 2021 Mercedes AMG GLC 63 gets a luxurious and opulent cabin. Upholding the traits of a true SUV, the GLC offers good comfort for the occupants, with some intuitive and advanced techs in use along with spacious and luxury seating experience.
