The RX 450 is Lexus’s answer to some of the best selling vehicles throughout the globe- the Audi Q5, Mercedes Benz GLE, and the BMW X5. Lexus takes a slightly different approach with the RX 450 Hybrid. The 450 offers a ton of practicality, style, and decent performance. At $46,000, this Lexus can’t exactly be called cheap or pocket friendly. Can it justify it’s price when it comes to reliability? Hybrid systems come with a ton of complexities. Does the RX 450 follow suit? Let find out more about the 450’s reliability.

Reliability

JD Power ratings are the go-to source for most people when it comes to the question of the reliability of a car. The 2020 model of the Lexus RX 450h has managed an overall score of 85 out of 100. This is an impressive score and put the vehicle in “better than the most” category.

The score has been further divided into different segments. The RX 450h has scored 89 out of 100 for overall quality and reliability, 82 out of 100 for driving experience, 81 out of 100 for resale value and 86 out of 100 for overall dealership experience.

When it comes to build quality and reliability, Japanese manufacturers have always been on the top step. Lexus is no exception, the quality and reliability score of the RX 450h goes on to prove the point further.

Recalls

There are no reported recalls on the 2020 RX 450h at the time of writing this article as per the NHTSA website. There actually have been no recorded recalls of the RX 450h in the last few years. Having said that, there have been a few complaints about the electrical system of the vehicle. Some of these complaints have been brought up by customers again and again but Lexus has still hasn’t issued a recall for the problem.

Warranty

Lexus's warranty plan for the 2019 RX 450h is pretty solid.

  • The limited warranty covers 4 years or 50,000 miles.
  • Powertrain warranty covers 6 years or 70,000 miles.
  • Complimentary maintenance is covered for 1 year or 10,000 miles.

The impressive warranty means more peace of mind for the buyer. The warranty is valid throughout the United States.

Pros - Pointer pad, blind spot mirrors, paddle shifters,

Cons - Scratch friendly wood trim around cupholders, audio buttons on center stack are dinky

Reliable than other cars and has a separate EV mode which makes it run solely on batteries. Good on gas and drives without problems. Interiors seem to be rushed and that's what hampers the ownership experience. Its a Lexus and customers expect it to do perfect on the inside at least.

Lexus used to a milestone of luxury and looks and seems like milestones have changed with time. RX350h is a fine example of how quality degraded with respect to time. On papers, it has paddle shifters and what not but in reality, having plush quality materials was more pressing priority than giving more features. I'm pointing to the scratch friendly wood trim especially around cup holders which is...

Comfortable but I expected more

Lexus no doubt is comfortable than the rest of the cars I've driven but to be honest, I expected a little more from it. Fancy stuff like lumbar support and heated/ventilated seats are in place but that has been provided at the cost of driver legroom. Armrest on the other hand could also have been generously soft and bigger. Apart from all this, everything is pretty perfect and seats are acquinted ...
