Expert Review, Pricing Analysis and Buying Guide

Overall Rating

The 2021 Lexus RX 350L is a midsize crossover identical to the RX 350 except for one key differentiator: a streched wheelbase- Edmunds

The 2021 Lexus RX 350L is 4.4 inches longer than the regular RX 350 but the rest of the dimensions remain the same. This extra length adds 200 pounds and hence, it is not the most popular player on the road like its rivals. But, it definitely delivers a supple ride and a silent cabin filled with high-quality materials for its price. The best part of this SUV is an extensive list of standard advanced safety features.

The 2021 Lexus RX 350L can be leased at $469 per month for 36 months. Downpayment charges include $3,999 that has to be paid at the time of signing. You can even finance it at a 0.9% APR rate for 60 months. The cost to own the RX 350L is around $13,700 per year including repairs, maintenance, taxes, fuel, etc. The miles per dollar ratio is estimated at 1.15 if the vehicle is driven for 15,000 miles annually.

The RX remains stable and provides the driver with all the feedback necessary to enjoy the ride- Kelly Blue Book

Powering the 2021 Lexus RX 350L is a 3.5-liter V6 engine that churns out 290 hp and 263 lb-ft. of torque. An 8-speed automatic with paddle shifters is used to transfer the power to the ground. FWD configuration is standard but you can opt for an AWD system for an extra $1,400.

The 2021 RX 350L offers the most comfortable ride in its class. Making the RX 350L a pleasant car to drive is a plush ride and a cabin that's pretty quiet. The steering does not feel connected to the road but on twisty roads, the SUV surely feels planted. This encourages more confidence in the driver.

The nonhybrid RX350 doesn't look all that efficient on paper- CarAndDriver

According to the EPA, the 2021 Lexus RX 350L returns 19 MPG in the city, 26 MPG on a highway, and 22 MPG combined. Opting for an AWD system reduces the combined mileage by 1 MPG. Compared to its rivals, the fuel economy of the RX 350L is not great in its segment.

The RX 350L gets the largest fuel tank in this competition. Thanks to this 19.2-gallon fuel tank, the RX 350L delivers a combined range of 432 miles when filled with premium gas. Getting a large tank doesn't help its city and highway ranges and it stands behind its rivals.

RX L models have similar measurements in the first and second rows but add a third-row seat- MotorTrend

The interior of the 2021 Lexus RX 350L has seating space for seven people. However, choosing the optional second-row captain chairs reduces the seating capacity to six. The seats are covered with simulated leather with contrast stitching. The RX 350L has some of the best front seats in the business; the step-in height is just right too. Should you choose for more pricey trims, the front bucket seats get even better with a lot of power adjustability. Opting for the $6,000 Luxury package gets a heated wood and leather-trimmed steering wheel.

2021 Lexus RX 350L cockpit area

The quality of materials inside the car is what makes the 2021 RX 350L so appealing. A six-footer will enjoy the passenger space in the front row. In the second row, 30.9 inches of legroom may be cramped for six-footers while the third row is strictly preserved for kids or pets only. Dedicated cargo space of 7.5 cu-ft. is offered in the RX 350L and this expands to 23 cu-ft. with the third-row seats folded. Finally, a maximum of 58.5 cu-ft. can be obtained behind the first row.

An 8-inch touchscreen display is standard and is paired with a 9-speaker premium stereo system. The optional $3,365 Navigation package upgrades the screen to 12.3 inches and adds a 15-speaker Mark Levinson surround-sound system.

Some connectivity features include Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, Bluetooth streaming, etc. The touch targets on the screen are large and therefore, easy to use. The screen also supports easy-to-use voice actions. What is not easy to use is the highly inaccurate Lexus Remote Touch controller near the shifter, with touch screen support. Some other infotainment and interior features include:

  • 8-inch touchscreen display
  • Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa
  • Tri-zone automatic climate control
  • Power tilt & telescopic multi-function steering wheel

2021 Lexus RX 350L Exterior

It would be an insult to call the design of the RX anything but bold- Carbuzz

One of the most deceiving aspects of the 2021 Lexus RX 350L is the sleek silhouette. It makes the car look like it’s ready to set the drag strip on fire. The razor-sharp design of the LED headlamps and DRLs looks very stylish and modern. The car sits high from the ground at 8.1 inches. Therefore, the RX 350L can easily ride over rough terrains.

The roofline is a flowing and sumptuous affair which though is one of the highlights of this SUV, but actually eats up a bit of the headroom for the rear rows. The rear roof pillar is blacked out just a little bit to give it a floating roof effect. The RX 350L gets 19-inch alloy wheels but it can be optioned with 20-inch super-chromed machined finish wheels with the $6,000 Luxury package.

The Audi Q5 delivers the best on-road performance as it weighs nearly 400 pounds less than the RX 350L. The BMW X3s' wheelbase speaks for its interior room as it flaunts 3 inches more than the RX 350L. Some other exterior highlights include:

  • LED headlamps
  • LED DRLs
  • LED brake lights
  • Black grille with chrome surrounds
  • Chrome window trim

How well does it go?

Pros - It's sharp design, voice commands, app is useful

Cons - Not the best dealership spread, does not have a wireless charging system, hopping in third row is a task

Lexus 350L is bigger and better Answering my question, we have had this Lexus for about a month now and never have had any issue with it. It's a base model and misses out on a few features althoug I would have wanted a wireless charging system in it The best feature is the voice command system which recognises my voice and does exactly when it's asked to do Lexus cars always have sharp body design because of the aggressive body lines and sharp headlight shape. Safety goes hand in hand with our lexus because of the features like rearview camera and sensors for cruise control etc The way it has been calm and handy by far is the best. If it continues to drive like this, I'll never trade it The pricing is a little over the edge and insurance also isn't cheap Our time at Sewell was good. Thr pricing would have made it better

Because it's a Lexus

Pros - Came in with ppf on it, how well the heater works, how smooth it drives on any road

Cons - A slip of a sunroof, fog lights are way too sleek

Lexus 2021 for our family and I think we found our car and we're going to keep it for a very long time Everything starts to look good from inside a Lexus they say. I can't agree more on it. It's amazing how well and smooth it drives on any road condition. Has the best heater apart from the most luxurious cabin The interiors of any lexus ooze out luxury and our Rx is one such fine example. Beautiful looking cabin with cushy seats and lots of room. Center console flows from the touch screen to the armrest. All this expensive stuff and then a slip of a sunroof Well design may be subjective but the fit and finish of Lexus cars is amazing. It's sturdy and the way it drives on any roads is just amazing It's a one time investment to get a Lexus. They don't usually show any signs of old age With all the options, the monthly finance payments are $976. Quite lucky to get a deal under a grand on it They didn't cheat us or force us to buy it. They respected our decisions and were helpful
