The National Highway Transportation Safety Association is a federal government agency, which is a part of the Department of Transportation. They control and enforce vehicle safety regulations. This agency administers crash tests and publishes the data to citizens. The car earned a 4-star rating in the frontal barrier crash where the agency stimulates a head-on accident scenario. Side crash rating is also 5 where the intersection collision is stimulated. When it comes to the rollover test the rating is 4-star with a 16.40% risk of rollover.

Coming from a manufacturer like Toyota the expectations are always high from Lexus. And Lexus has never disappointed us with its vehicles. The vehicles have always been reliable and have performed well over time. Coming to the car the RX 350 has always been a solid SUV with offering both comfort and practicality, it does a good job at that and there has been no problem in that respect. But the infotainment controls and driving experience is something the car struggled in its previous model. Lexus made some improvements in both the areas and hopes its owners will like the upgrades.

What Lexus offers in terms of keeping you safe?

Lexus got you covered in terms of safety, RX 350 offers everything that could come handy at an emergency. From low-light obstacle detection to cameras and sensors to keep you informed about the surroundings. The SUV comes equipped with the new Lexus Safety System + 2.0. Here are some of the highlighted features-

  • Smart Stop Technology :- There are some cases where due to the panic one presses the brake pedal without lifting the foot from the accelerator pedal. The car is intelligent enough to understand the situation and will reduce the engine power to slow down the car.
  • Panoramic View Monitor :- The panoramic view monitor utilizes the four high-resolution cameras mounted on the front, back, and both sides of the car and provides a birds-eye-view of the surroundings so the driver can take maneuver the car without facing difficulties.
  • Blind Spot Monitor + Rear Cross-Traffic Break :- What blind spot monitor does is it detects and warns you if there are any vehicles coming from your blind spot so that you can change your lane safely. The added bonus is rear cross-traffic break, it comes handy when you are reversing out of parking and are in a tight spot to spot the vehicle coming from either side. The system notifies you of the coming vehicles and if it detects a possible collision it can automatically apply the brake.
  • Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) :- The VDIM comes to the rescue when there is a possible skid. The system is designed to predict the skid and take steps to prevent it from happening. VDIM uses a combination of torque modulation and steering torque assistance combined with individual-wheel braking.
  • Stability Control :- This works in association with the traction control and anti-lock braking to enhance driver control over the vehicle in certain scenarios. An example of how this works is- sideslip of the vehicles while cornering, it helps to control that using the engine modulation and careful utilization of individual braking.

Is the new Lexus RX 350 safe?

Lexus RX 350 is safe but when you take the price into the consideration it is not up to the mark. It offers no groundbreaking safety features that can distinguish it from the competition, as there are cars that are safer than the RX 350 and starts at a lower price. Do take all that into consideration when deciding.

Love my new Lexus!

The ride quality is good and the engine is smooth and has a linear power delivery. But the transmission is not to my liking. It is slow to downshift!

It is a great performer: quick and responsive! The handling is amazing too and it is very easy to maneuver even in traffic and congested areas. Very impressed!

The most perfect suv

Refined and smooth through shifts, the first thing I believe everyone would notice in 350. One can barely notice any the transmission shifts and when going over pot holes. Suspension works remarkably well and seats enhance this comfort even more. Premium features inside out make it a must buy for families looking for comfort in a vehicle.

Not bad but unfortunately not best either

If I talk about the Lexus on whole, the RX series stays true to the name of the brand with all the premium aspects piled up in an efficient manner. However, they call it a sports trim which adds the expectations of the anticipated drivers like me. Not to mention, it doesn't drive bad by any means but fails to put out any sort of sporty or performance vibe. Some of the readers out here might judge ...
