2022 Lexus RX 350 Price, Review, Ratings and Pictures

The Lexus RX 350 ranks in the top half of the luxury midsize SUV class on the strength of its great predicted reliability rating and well-rounded performance, but it's short on cargo space. Other than that we find it very difficult to nit-pick this SUV.

For 2022 MY you can expect a more or less similar Lexus which was available as the 2021 MY. All this means you get a funky and futuristic-looking car with lots of feel-good features on the interior and yeah loads of safety tech in case you happen to crash this masterpiece of engineering.

The car will be available in two trim levels, base and F Sport. The major differences between the two will only be in the kit provided inside the car; both the trims will be powered by the same powertrains otherwise. With an option of all-wheel-drive and standard front-wheel-drive, this is going to be a capable SUV with a loaded list of standard features. At an asking price of under $50,000, the 2022 Lexus RX 350 takes against the likes of the other Japanese brand Acura MDX and the Germans duo BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC 300.

Pros

Assuring resale and reliability value

Uptown cabin with the top-notch build quality

Smooth ride quality

Cons

Futuristic styling may not be to everyone’s liking

Not the sportiest to ride among the competition

What's New?

The car continues with minimal changes for 2022. Lexus is being a bit lazy to tinker with the formula that’s already working great for them.

Wireless charging, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto could be available as standard in 2022 MY.

Expert Review, Pricing Analysis and Buying Guide

The 2022 Lexus RX 350 won’t be the flashiest or most fun-to-drive vehicle in the class for that you might have to look up to the Germans, but when it comes to being a reliable and fuss-free car the Lexus sure tops every list. The 2022 MY is expected to make its entry with a familiar and robust V6 engine capable of naught to sixty in just under seven seconds. The 2022 Lexus RX 350 is expected to carry a price of under $50,000 and will be available by the end of 2021 or early 2022.

2022 Lexus RX 350 Pricing and Features

The 2022 Lexus RX 350 will be available in two trims levels i.e. base and F-Sport. Both the trims of the 2022 Lexus RX 350 will be identical to each other on the mechanical front and will come standard with front-wheel-drive, but there will be an optional all-wheel-drive variant also available. However, the 2022 Lexus RX 350 F Sport will be reviewed separately as and when we get our hands on any details or scoops. Now, speaking of the 2022 Lexus RX 350, well the standard RX 350 will be offered as a standalone trim only. The prices for the 2022 Lexus RX 350 are expected to start at a ball-park figure of $46,000 for the standard FWD drivetrain and $48,000 for the optional AWD drivetrain, excluding destination charges.

2022 Lexus RX 350 Engine and Performance

For the 2022 RX 350, Lexus isn’t going to make any radical changes under the hood, which means you can expect to get almost the same powertrain that was doing the duty in the 2021 Lexus RX 350. The 2022 RX 350’s powertrain will be a well-known 3.5L V6 that is good enough for about 295 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque and arguably the most reliable oil burner in its class.

All that power is channeled to the front wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission as standard. The gearbox is among the smoothest and offers great drivability. Thanks to that the power delivery is smooth and the efficiency is great as well. The 2022 Lexus RX 350 will be capable of naught to sixty in just under seven seconds and quarter-mile in no more than fifteen seconds, which in our opinion is very good by SUV standards.

The Lexus and the Acura both get naturally aspirated 3.5L V6 oil burners while the German duo i.e. BMW and Merc packs in smaller 2.0L twin-turbo inline-4 pots. Except for the Lexus, the other three are all-wheel-drive which gives them an edge in tackling tricky road conditions. As for the power and torque figures the Lexus and Acura are ahead of the German duo by leaps and bounds but when it comes to the naught to sixty or quarter-mile run the Merc takes the lead followed by the BMW.

2022 Lexus RX 350 Fuel Economy

For the 2022 Lexus RX 350, there won’t be any major changes to the drivetrain so we can safely presume that the 2021 MY year’s gas mileage could be the expected mileage we can get in the 2022 MY.

The Lexus RX 350’s gas mileage is pretty impressive with an EPA estimated mileage of 23 MPG in combined fuel economy. The 2022 Lexus RX 350 would be good enough for 20 miles in the city or can cruise through 27 miles on the highway for every gallon of gasoline. With its 19.2-gallon fuel tank and superb fuel management, you can very easily cover a minimum of 440 miles plus on a full tank of gas.

As for the gas mileage, you would notice that the BMW X3 and for that matter, even the Merc GLC is better with higher gas mileage numbers. Put into perspective that both the cars have smaller 2.0L bi-turbo oil burners and you would be surprised to know that the bigger 3.5L V6 in the Lexus RX 350 is very close to their numbers. For instance, the Merc returns a combined mileage of 24 mpg while the Lexus returns 23 mpg just a one mpg drop can surely be overlooked because there isn’t any replacement for displacement.

2022 Lexus RX 350 Interior

The next reason why the 2022 Lexus RX 350 is still a strong seller is the interiors of this car. Even in 2022, the overall quality of the car is expected to be phenomenal. The material quality will see an exorbitant level of greatness and finesse. The aesthetics of the car are very classic yet futuristic in design, which might be the reason why the car has aged so well in the last few years.

The 2022 RX 350 will be offered only in two trims but you would be spoilt with a long list of standard features available on both trims. The cabin will be a benchmark in terms of comfort and quality when it hits our shores. Coming to seats they will be covered in soft leather and going by the 2021 MY experience they will offer good amounts of support and cushioning without being uncomfortable on longer rides.

For those looking for a three-row SUV out there, Lexus has got you covered with a long-wheelbase of the car which will go by the familiar RX 350L acronym which offers an extra row. However the extra row will be pretty cramped on that car, so it won’t make sense to spend more on that car and you can take our word for that.

Due to the car’s smaller footprint, the cargo capacity will be on the lower side. You can expect as much as 18.4 cubic feet of space with the seats up and 56.3 cubic feet when you fold down the second row unless Lexus plans to bamboozle us with an obnoxiously large rear end.

While these numbers might seem all right, they are among the lowest in the class. Features-wise, there have been some additions to the standard equipment list of the RX350, which for the 2021 MY was already impressively stacked. As for the infotainment you can expect to see a familiar 8-inch touchscreen as standard, along with Amazon Alexa, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, HD Radio, 9-speaker sound system, satellite radio, 6 USB ports, and Bluetooth.

For the other trim level, you can get a larger 12.3-inch dual-screen display, an option between a 12-speaker stereo and a 15-speaker Mark Levinson stereo, the Lexus Enform App Suite, and navigation. Oh, and by the way, some of the available features of 2021 MY are set to become standard features in the 2022 Lexus RX 350.

As for the competition, the Lexus is the undisputed king when it comes to overall interior and leg space. Acura may boast of being a seven-seater but we all know how it's like in the third row and these cars are best to have in the two-row configuration in case you want to have a usable boot space.

2022 Lexus RX 350 Exterior

Lexus is known to be recalcitrant when it comes to making changes and the same is the case with the Lexus RX 350’s exterior design which will remain unchanged for 2022. That may not necessarily be a bad thing as to why to fix something if it’s not broken. Therefore even the standard edition of the car looks quite aggressive and futuristic. With a unique build of spoilers, grille, headlights, and bumpers that clearly sets it apart from the crowd.

That was for the base edition itself, things get even exciting with the F Sport trim. The grille design for the F Sport trim will be tweaked a little bit as well as two new colors will be offered. The spindle-grille-like design language which features so many angles and sharp lines is anything but bold. That also means that the design can be polarizing and might not be to everyone’s liking. With that said we will cover the Lexus RX 350 F-sport trim in a separate review in a more detailed manner.

Mercedes-Benz GLE is the smallest vehicle in the lot in terms of exterior dimensions but with the best wheelbase on offer. While the best ground clearance among the rivals is in the Lexus RX 350 with 8.2 inches making it the most off-road friendly vehicle of the lot. Moreover, the RX350 remains one of the longest, widest, and the tallest offering of the segment, which simply put, implies that the ride offers the most room on the inside.

2022 Lexus RX 350 Safety

The Lexus RX 350 bagged IIHS's highest “Good” overall crash-test scores and “Acceptable” headlight ratings for the model year 2021, making it one of the Top Safety Picks by IIHS. Now, since there are no significant changes on the cards for the RX 350 in the model year 2022, we expect the same level of security and safety to get carried forward.

If you thought that the list of features offered with the infotainment was impressive then hold your breath, you are about to be even more impressed. Being a Lexus, loads of safety features will be available as standard and the RX 350 is no exception. You get goodies like forwarding collision warning, a rearview camera, pedestrian detection, forward automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, automatic high-beam headlights, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist.

Apart from these, some of the most eminent standard safety features expected in the 2022 Lexus RX 350 are:

  • Pre-collision system with pedestrian detection
  • Road sign assist
  • Lane tracing assist
  • Lane departure warning with steering assist
  • Intelligent high beams
  • Radar cruise control
  • Blind-spot monitoring
  • Intuitive parking assist
  • Panoramic view monitor
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • Automatic braking
  • Triple-beam LED headlamps
  • The adaptive front lighting system

2022 Lexus RX 350 Competition

2022 Lexus RX 350 Vs 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300

The 2021 Mercedes Benz GLE competes well with Lexus RX 350. It has a similar interior space with high-tech infotainment. It has better performance figures but Lexus has the best engine performance. In terms of braking and fuel economy, both are good.

The safety provided in Lexus RX 350 is much better than Mercedes. Both have good reliability ratings but Mercedes is more expensive than the Lexus RX 350.

2022 Lexus RX 350 Vs 2021 BMW X3

Lexus RX 350 has better engine performance while the BMW X3 is faster than Lexus RX 350 and has better braking performance too. In terms of fuel economy, BMW X3 offers a better economy than Lexus. Both have a spacious interior and elegant exterior and they both have a good reliability score.

The safety provided is better in Lexus RX 350. Both cars have a similar base price. It is a difficult choice, which one to choose but we would suggest you purchase Lexus considering its safety and engine performance.

2022 Lexus RX 350 Final Verdict

With minimal changes and a carryover from the 2021 Lexus RX 350, yet nothing comes in its way at least with the sales charts and people are still buying the car like hotcakes. However minimal changes do not apply for the prices, they will go up by a bit but the entry-level RX 350 will still cost below $50,000 while the price of a fully-loaded RX 350 will hover under $60,000.

If you are in the market, looking for a crossover that's not too difficult to maneuver around the town, yet offers enough space to easily accommodate you and your family for weekend-long trips, the 2022 Lexus RX 350 could be a great option. Though it might not be an arousing sprinter, we don't think that spirited driving is something that you'd get involved in when you are driving around with your family.

My new Lexus RX 350!

Pros - Comfortable space. Stylish design. Features list.

Cons - Cramped third row seats. Expensive pricing.

Got-it-all luxury SUV! Buying the Lexus RX350 has been the most satisfying thing I ever did. It definitely is the luxury car that I daily wanted to drive. It's got it all. It looks like a million bucks with the busy sharp exterior. The interiors are premium ina matte walnut finish which absolutely is gorgeous. Besides, the seats except for the third row ones, provide a lot of comfort even on long trips.A lot of standard safty features like blind spot monitor, emergency braking come as standard on the car. Besides the infotainment is a massive 12" touchscreen with navigation, smartphone connectivity, WiFi, wireless charging and even six USB ports. Quite happy with the kind of luxury SUV I have got in the Lexus. The pricing on it is steep at about $53k but a great low-APR deal got it covered. Happy with the overall Lexus experience. The facility was a sprawling one with lot of models on display. I even got to look at the exact same model in flesh with same colour interiors, body paint that I wanted! Great.buying experience!

Lexus RX 350 has met all my needs. It is capable, comfortable, and smooth to drive. It can track any route no matter the situation or place. The styling is awesome and there is hardly anything missing. I have been driving it for the past four months and it has only impressed me.
