Still manages to stand apart.

Pros - Quirky features, seating comfort, robust built qulaity

Cons - Old media screen, slow transmission,

Cheap luxury. Bought myself a clean 2012 RX 350 from one of my friends working at Hennessey lexus a couple of years back. I got it for 18 grands after pushing in some offers. Since it was a car from 2011 it really missed some features that I have been quite used to on my other cars. That said, the comfort and sheer luxury that the car has is quite commendable considering its age. It even has features that I have never seen. I did have to spend about 3 grand to make it in proper running condition again. Except for the quirks of an old car, the RX 350 has been perfectly usable for me. Also, in my case, I had to take care of an oil leaking pan as well. Danny, ho is the lead sales man here, is one of my close friends. I managed to get a lot cut off from the listed pricing of my used Lexus all thanks to him.

2012 Lexus RX350

Pros - Serene ride quality

Cons - Lackluster handling

When base trim gets you most the things! Super comfortable. Quiet ride. Road noise is low, especially nice when talking on the cell phone. Storage is nice; plenty of room for my golf clubs and cart. The automatic kick thing to open the rear liftgate is more useful than I thought it would be. This dealership is dishonest when it comes to financing! They quoted me one interest rate on the internet, but when it came time to sign on the dotted line, it was over 2 points higher, and they refused to honor the first quote!

A terrific performance provider

Pros - Energetic 6-cylinder engine

Cons - Not much

Best under the hood equipment "The 6-cylinder engine in this one is one of the best that I have driven since I started driving. Everything is almost perfect, with the acceleration and power. Even when I take the car for a spin outside the city or on a hilly terrain, the car delivers with ease. The engine provides enough power and torque to go on, and one of the most important things is that the handling is also great and I feel very assured driving the car." I highly trust the people here. They also sometimes throw in a complimentary interior vacuum sometimes.

Lexus was the pioneer of the luxury crossover segment when it first launched the RX 350 over a decade ago and till date, almost every premium manufacturer has an alternative to it and yet the RX 350 is one of the most popular luxury crossover in the market. The probable reason is the slow and steady approach towards the changes made to the car by being careful enough to not alter the winning formula that Lexus had achived years ago. The engine is capable and frugal, the interior is well built and spacious, while there is also an option for a hybrid powertrain, all of which together keeps the rivals at bay.

2012 Lexus RX 350 Engine and Performance

8.4/10

The 2012 Lexus RX 350 is powered by a sizable 3.5liter V6 engine. The engine delivers a maximum of 270 horsepower and 248lb-ft of maximum torque. The punch from the engine is quite strong and given the RX’s heft, it pulls quite strongly making use of all the torque perfectly. The power figures are adequate to allow the SUV to run the 0-60mph sprint within 7.1 seconds. The motor remains stress-free most of the time lest you push it hard but the efficient 8-speed automatic gear-box ensures that you’re not stranded with a lackluster performance the moment you demand it.

The BMW X5 comes with a straight-6 motor under its hood but is powerful enough to outperform the RX 350. The Lincoln MKX comes with a slightly bigger engine and delivers the maximum horsepower among the rivals on the list but falls short of torque in front of the X5.

2012 Lexus RX 350 Fuel Economy

8.4/10

The fuel economy is surprisingly good in the Lexus RX 350 despite it being a big and powerful luxury SUV. The SUV returns a city mileage of 20mpg while the highway mileage rating stands at 27mpg. The combined mileage is rated at 23mpg. With a sizable gas tank of 19.2gallons, the SUV offers a superb overall driving range.

Among the rivals on the list, the RX 350 is the most fuel-efficient vehicle and the Lincoln MKX is the least fuel-efficient one. The BMW X5 slots above the MKX although by a slight margin.

2012 Lexus RX 350 Interior

9.5/10

The interior of the Lexus RX 350 is truly plush and comfortable. The interior is made out of exceptionally high-quality materials and the extensive use of real leather and wood trims induces a sense of opulence like no other. Overall, the interior looks and feels much more expensive than the SUV is actually is. The seats are incredibly comfortable too with superb cushioning and support. You can cover hundreds of miles of asphalt without feeling tired a bit.

2012 Lexus RX 350 Exterior

9.9/10

The 2012 Lexus RX 350 looks less rugged and more elegant from the outside like it is on the inside. It sits lower to the ground than its rivals and rides like a dream. Coming to the design of the SUV, the front end looks quite understated with a compact front grille and sharp-looking headlamp units. The side-profile looks a bit curved and the design is carried all the way to the rear end as well. The sloping rear windscreen and tailgate design looks a bit out of the ordinary and gives a feeling of an elevated and taller sedan.

2012 Lexus RX 350 Final Verdict

Lexus vehicles were always known for their sheer amount of luxury and comfort offered at a much lower price than its major German rivals such as BMW and Mercedes-Benz. It is safe to say that Lexus vehicles might not be as sporty as their German counterparts but matches them evenly in terms of comfort and elegance. The 2012 Lexus RX 350 offers a plethora of features along with a strong performance and an opulent interior. Overall, if you want a practical SUV with the comfort levels of a luxury vehicle and the peace of mind of owning a Toyota, then the RX 350 is the right option to go for.
