The Lexus LX goes way back in 1998 and has always been regarded for its sheer size and towing capacity. With a cabin of utmost sophistication and a radical exterior styling, this SUV SUV has the necessary rage with poise. The 2021 LX 570 sees major upgrades in terms of performance and features. The standard V8 engine is expected to be replaced by a new twin-turbo V6, that’ll push its power to 416 hp and 412 lb-ft of torque. 2021 Lexus LX 570 will stand at a price of about $86,380, but it seems to be truly justified through the upgrades it promises to deliver.

Overall Rating

The Lexus 570 has come a long way and rightfully so. With one of the most instantly gratifying grille to feature in any car (aside from the tropical topic, BMW X7) and an interior that has all the bells and whistles to never want to leave. Toyota’s luxurious division, Lexus has perfected the Land Cruiser on which the LX 570 sits on. This further gives this luxury SUV that structure to trade and find a way out from any terrain in this world.

With the 2020 Lexus 570 still on sale, the 2021 LX 570 is expected to be unveiled by the end of this year. The 2021 LX 570 competes against the likes of 2020 Infiniti QX80, 2020 Lincoln Navigator, and it’s own nemesis, the Toyota Land Cruiser. Here’s our take on the 2021 Lexus LX 570 that is soon going to be on sale in the market.

2021 Lexus LX 570 Pricing and Features

7.0/10

Continuing from last year, the 2021 Lexus LX 570 will be available in one trim only. Safety and comfort features are on par with any German model and, with Lexus’ luxurious tag sets an expectation that may not be found in the Land Cruiser. There is an option to choose between the two-row and three-row variants, but both will get the same 3.5L Twin-Turbo engine and the same feature list.

2021 Lexus LX 570 Maintenance, Reliability and Warranty

Lexus outputs, especially the LX 570, are highly reputed for there reliability with high build-quality. The Land Cruisers' ability to adapt to harsh road conditions makes the LX 570 equally adept. Features like height-adjustable suspension, crawl control system, hill-assist, etc controls and keeps the driver calm over every situation, be it off-road or on the smooth highways.

Reliability and Ownership Costs

The Lexus LX 570 has not yet been rated by J.D Power. As far as its reputation goes in the market, the LX 570 has previously been held high with no instances of recall also. NHTSA has not filed any report and as far as consumer satisfaction goes, complaints about the Lexus have been next to none. Though, handling this mammoth of an SUV can become difficult to maintain for some owners, like for instance, it’s fuel consumption. The V8 under the hood of the Lexus 570 is definitely a guzzler. It equips some good safety features and the brakes are quite reliable having some additional functions to it.

The average cost of the 2021 Lexus LX 570 is expected to be around $93,000 for the three-row variant. There seems to be no significant increase in cost despite of an upgraded engine and additional features. People living in the states of Oregon, Atlanta, Montreal, and other tax-exempted states could expect lower prices, but it wouldn’t be significant compared to its base price. No recalls have been issued yet according to NHTSA.

Warranty

The warranty coverage for the Lexus LX 570 is acceptable, and buyers would be satisfied with it. In fact, Lexus offers better service and warranty coverage than the higher-pricedLand Rovers and GLS63. Along with the regular packages, it offers one year of complimentary scheduled maintenance unlike most of its rivals.

Criteria

Period

Limited warranty

4 Years / 50,000 Miles, whichever is earlier

Powertrain warranty

6 years / 70,000 miles, whichever is earlier

Complimentary maintenance

1 year / 10,000 miles, whichever is earlier

Apart from the additional 1-year complimentary maintenance offered by Toyota, Lexus falls no short in any segment, and the warranty coverage is certainly fulfilled by the company.

Miles Per Dollar

On average, a gallon of gas costs around 2.5USD. Considering the fact, it offers around 14-21 miles per gallon, it should equate to about 8 miles per dollar.

2021 Lexus LX 570 Buying Advice

The only choice you have to make is between the two and three-row variants. We would recommend the three-row variant. Having a couple of extra seats is never a bad idea, the features and comfort of both the variants are similar. Also, the cargo space is not compromised for the extra seats, thanks to the foldable rear seats.

Apart from this, if you expect something more in terms of luxury and comfort, you could opt for the luxury package that includes four-zone automatic climate control, heated and ventilated seats (first and second row), leather upholstery, and puddle lights for the exterior mirror that would be available at an extra cost.

Is buying a used Lexus LX 570 a good idea?

This totally depends upon the requirements of the buyer. If you are satisfied with the performance figure of 383hp of the older versions of the Lexus LX, then buying the previous or used models wouldn’t be a problem for you. Also, the mileage of the older versions is significantly less than the 2021 model. Though the 2021 model comes with some noticeable upgrades, they shouldn’t concern you and you’ll get some good features in your car, and the comfort and luxury would be at par with the new variant.

So, if mileage and performance is not your primary concern and you are getting a good deal for your Lexus LX, don’t think too much and go for it.

2021 Lexus LX 570 Engine and Performance

7.5/10

The engine has been upgraded for the new model and seems to be derived from the powerful Lexus LS sedan. So, the Lexus LX will be powered by a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine producing 416 hp at 442 lb-ft of torque. Even the previous model's engine was sufficiently powered by the 5.7-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine that produced 383 hp and 402 lb-ft of torque, but it seems that the manufacturers are trying to make this SUV the only choice for the customers. The improved hp and torque figures would further enhance its off-roading capability and the 8-speed automatic transmission has never been complained about, and thus not been touched upon.

2021 Lexus LX 570 SUV side view

All the rivals would have a 4WD set up to provide the torque to all the wheels and make them capable of off-roading. Both the three-row and two-row variants would have the same engine and transmission setup.

The Lincoln Navigator is a pure performance-based SUV, andthe only competition it receives is from the new Lexus LX.The Infiniti QX80 and theToyota Land Cruiser stand quite close to each other in performance figures, but far behind the Lincoln and Lexus, and seem to be over-priced.

2021 Lexus LX 570 Acceleration and Braking Performance

Of course, the acceleration performance is bound to increase with the upgraded V6 engine, but confirmed figures are not available yet. But to give you a glimpse of the power of the Lexus LX, we wouldconsider the figures from the V8 engine installed in the 2020 LX model. Producing 383 hp and 402 lb-ft of torque, the 2020 Lexus LX managed to go from 0-60 MPH in 6.9 seconds. The heavyweight of the 2020 Lexus might have affected its acceleration speed, but it’ll not be the case for the new variant, and the extra hp and torque figures might even suppress the Lincoln.

2021 Lexus LX 570 SUV accelerate 0-60 mph just in 6.9 sec

The Lexus LX is equipped with some good brakes and features to stop it at the right time. The 2020 model had 13.9-inch brakes rotors, along with 4-wheel power-assisted discs having sensors to provide more power to the brakes when required. This would be quite useful in off-road conditions, along with features like uphill and downhill assist by the four-piston front calipers.

There’s not much data available for the 60-0 mph distance for these SUVs. The main function of the better brakes is to handle the off-road conditions which are thoroughly fulfilled by all the rivals. The heavyweight of the 2020 Lexus LX has significantly affected its acceleration, while the Infiniti QX80 and the Land Cruiser seem to justify their engine capabilities. The Lincoln clearly shows its aim of providing high performance, and therefore stands out from its rivals.

2021 Lexus LX 570 Fuel Economy

6.4/10

In spite of major upgrades in the performance of the Lexus LX, it isn't going to lower its mileage figures, and actually improve them to provide better mpg figures than the previous model. Apart from this, the cylinder deactivation technology would further enhance its efficiency when high performance is not the priority, like on city roads.

You could expect 14/21/17 mpg figures on city/highways/combined respectively, and this is surely impressive considering its high performance and heavyweight. A 24.6-gallon fuel tank would be enough for a 394-mile drive on highways, but better is expected as it falls short from its rivals.

The mpg figures of the Lexus LX seems to justify its performance and are better than the Toyota Land Cruiser and quite close to that of the Infiniti QX80. The Lincoln Navigator stands out in this section too and in spite of offering the best mpg figures amongst its rivals, it has the biggest fuel tank that directly improves its range in all driving conditions.

2021 Lexus LX 570 Interior

7.3/10

This is where the Lexus manufacturers want you to focus upon. Theinterior of LX 570 is one of the best in its segments and quite often compared to that of the Land Rovers. Having the most spacious and luxury cabins, this is a perfect SUV for a big family. The total passenger capacity is 8, but more children could be seated due to the massive size of the rear seats.

Lexus LX 570 SUV front seat

Most of the interior is made of high-quality leather, and the build-quality gives a luxury feel to the cabin. The driver's seat gets 14-way power adjusting while the front passengers would be happy with 12-way.

Features like heated wood and leather-trimmed steering wheel, ambient lighting, four-zone climate control, Lexus memory system, cool box, and many more are standard for all the buyers. There is so much luxury and comfort that’ll make you dream about this SUV. More leather and additional features could be added through the luxury package.

The cargo space seems to be the least for the Lexus LX, but it is sufficient, but could be expanded up to 79.7 cu.ft on removing the second-row seats. Power operated-liftgate is available for easy loading of cargo. All the rivals have better cargo space than the Lexus.

How’s the 2021 Lexus LX 570’s infotainment system?

Theinfotainment setup of the Lexus LX 570 is not everyone’s choice. Though having all the connectivity and entertainment features like Sirius XM, Radio, Bluetooth, etc, the user-interface seems to be quite impractical due to the joystick and remote controller placed alongside the gear shifter. It seems to be sluggish and quite difficult to control for some users.

Lexus LX 570 SUV infotainment display

The Lexus's Enform interface is well-designed and seen through the 12.3-inch infotainment screen along with a split-screen. Power sources are available for the front and 2’nd row passengers. The unavailability of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and Wi-Fi Hotspot is still a mystery but could be installed in the 2021 model.

2021 Lexus LX 570 Exterior

6.0/10

Its massive size is the first thing that people notice, but the metallic color, chrome usage, and clever styling give LX 570 a little bit of an aggressive look. It surely does not look like a typical SUV but tries to show off its power and luxury through its exterior. The headlights extend to the front grille having a chrome finish to it, while the sides are designed cleverly to improve its aerodynamics. The overall exterior is appealing and some upgrades are expected in the front and rear fascias.

2021 Lexus LX 570 Safety

As discussed in the reliability section, it is pretty clear that the Lexus outputs are one of the most reliable vehicles on the roads having high build-quality and standard safety features. The added features are primarily to handle the off-roads but favor normal driving conditions too.

Some of the safety features include-

  • 4 wheel drive with active traction control
  • Hill-start assist control
  • Side Impact Beams
  • Blind-spot monitoring system
  • Tire pressure warning system
  • Crawl control
  • Front and Rear Parking Sensors
  • Lexus Enform safety connect
  • Intelligent headlamps

Most of the above features are standard and are quite useful for the off roads.

2021 Lexus LX 570 Competition

2021 Lexus LX 570 Vs Lincoln Navigator

Lincoln Navigator is the toughest rival for the Lexus LX due to its high-performance figures, colossal cabin and cargo space, and ground clearance for the better off-roading experience. Even the mileage of the Navigator is best amongst its rivals and has the lowest price tag.

2021 Lincoln Navigator

On the other hand, Lexus offers the most luxurious interiors in the world, with a performance close to that of the Navigator and highest reliability ratings.

2021 Lexus LX 570 Vs Infiniti QX 80

The performance of the Infiniti QX80 is quite close to the Lexus, but the miles per dollar cost is slightly higher for the Infiniti’s SUV. The mileage of both the rivals is also comparable, but the QX80 offers a better range.

2021 Infiniti QX80

In spite of this, the Lexus LX would be a better choice as it offers better performance figures, world-class interiors and the few extra dollars spent on it would be certainly justified.

2021 Lexus LX 570 Final Verdict

The 2021 LX 570 is definitely going to make some impact on the market, and the major reason would be the upgraded engine with no significant rise in its cost. The interior features and comfort were already the best offered by Lexus, but some minor upgrades in the infotainment setup would have been appreciated. There’s no doubt that the 2021 Lexus LX 570 is one of the best SUVs in the market, and the price you’ll pay for it would certainly be justified.
