The 2021 Lexus ES 350 F Sport is a luxury mid-size sedan that is offered for sale at a base MSRP of $45,800. Coming out as the most powerful offering of the ES lineup, the 2021 ES 350 F Sport does manage to retain the ethos of the outgoing 2020 model, mainly due to the impressive 3.5L naturally aspirated V6 motor under the hood, that is capable of putting out 302 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque. Along with that, all the features like heated and powered seats, leather upholstery, 10-speaker Pioneer audio system, and the 8" infotainment with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are also retained.

For this 2021 iteration, the ES 350 F Sport does manage to come out with some major changes from the outgoing 2020 model, especially to the interior and exterior front. This Japanese luxury car now gets the Black Line Special Edition Package, which offers a blacked-out treatment for the exterior, a white interior, and some more updates, to make it look more impressive. A few more safety and driver-assistance features now come as standard, along with an interior that gets the rich cream color treatment. Available for a lease price of $489/month, we will find out how well this luxury sedan competes with the likes of the 2021 Audi A6, 2021 Mercedes Benz E-Class, and the 2021 Volvo S90.

It delivers what a certain group of luxury car buyers are looking for in terms of comfort, ride quality, and effortless cruising capability. - Caranddriver

As the 3.5L naturally aspirated V6 motor mated to the 8-speed automatic transmission is lifted from the outgoing 2020 model year, the 0-60 mph time of 5.9 seconds and the quarter-mile time of 14.4 seconds remains unchanged. This sedan also managed to give out a decent combined gas mileage of 25 MPG, making it one of the best in the mid-size luxury sedan segment. Apart from that, the car also comes with many safety and driver-assistance features like automated emergency braking, lane-departure warning and lane-keep assistance, blindspot monitoring, and many more as standard, making it a perfect choice for the families who wants a safe and comfortable daily driver.

The 2021 Lexus ES 350 F Sport also comes forward with many lucrative lease and finance deals, making it quite a value-for-money offering of the segment. Along with that, it is the cheapest offering of the segment as well. If you would like to lease the ES 350 F Sport, you could get it for a base lease price of $489/month, which is for a 36-month term with a down payment of $2,650. The car can also be financed for a base monthly payment of $757, which is for a 60-month term with an estimated APR of 0.9% and a down payment of $3,015. With a 5-year cost of ownership of $52,686 and a miles per dollar ratio of 5.86, the 2021 ES 350 F Sport is also an easy car to live with.

2021 Lexus ES 350 F Sport Sedan Pricing and Features

The ES, known as a conservative midsize luxury sedan, receives a few styling tweaks following its latest complete redesign in 2018. - Carbuzz

The 2021 Lexus ES 350 F Sport is offered in a single trim configuration for a base selling price of $45,800. In comparison to the outgoing 2020 model, this 2021 iteration receives some major upgrades to the interior, exterior, and safety front. However, the powertrain is carried forward from the 2020 ES 350 F Sport, which is a 3.5L naturally aspirated V6 motor putting out 302 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque. The FWD drivetrain and 8-speed automatic are on board too. One of the major addition to the 2021 ES 350 F Sport is when it comes to the exterior, which now gets the Black Line Package, which offers a blacked-out exterior, a white interior, and many other subtle additions.

However, the 8 exterior colors, 19" alloy wheels, automatic LED headlights with LED DRLs, etc are retained with the 2021 iteration. The interior also sees some upgrades, especially to the color, which gets a rich cream shade along with 2 other colors. Lexus's Enform Safety Connect Suite is also on board and that offers features such as Wi-Fi hotspot as standard. However, the 8" infotainment, 10-speaker audio system, leather upholstery, etc remain unchanged. All the safety and driver-assistance features like blindspot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert system, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and many more as standard. Some of these features were only optional for the outgoing 2020 model.

2021 Lexus ES 350 F Sport Sedan Buying Advice

Available for sale at a base MSRP of $45,800 and coming in with a single trim configuration, the 2021 Lexus ES 350 F Sport doesn't offer a lot of choices. Since it is filled to the brim with many standard interior and driver-assistance features, we would also not recommend you to splurge on the optional features and packages offered, as most of them are quite expensive. However, if you are an audiophile, do opt for the Navigation/Mark Levinson Premium Audio Package, which is offered for an MSRP of $2,900. This provides you with the 17-speaker Mark Levinson audio system, which turned out to be one of the best of the segment.

Firmer responses can be had with the F Sport package and its adaptive dampers; it doesn’t harm the ES’ charm. - Thecarconnection

The 2021 Lexus ES 350 F Sport comes powered by the same 3.5L naturally aspirated V6 motor mated to the 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission and the FWD drivetrain. This powertrain helps this luxury performance sedan to give out 302 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque. The transmission offers multiple driving modes and manual mode with paddle shifters as well. This helps the car to be quite fast and refined.

Even though the 2021 ES 350 F Sport, which is available for a base MSRP of $45,800, comes with large 19" alloy wheels and a sophisticated suspension setup, it is ultimately a comfortable daily driver rather than a performance saloon. The suspension is set to the soft side and hence the ride quality is one of the best of the segment, during slow city speeds as well as highway riding. However, when it comes to the driving dynamics, it is not as impressive as the rivals, due to vague steering and higher than average body roll and understeer.

When it comes to the 0-60 mph time, the 2021 ES 350 F Sport managed to hit the marker in 5.9 seconds. The quarter-mile time of 14.4 seconds and the top speed of 135 MPH is quite impressive as well. With 12" front rotors and 11.1" rear rotors, the 2021 ES 350 F Sport also turned out to be an excellent proposition when it comes to the braking performance, giving out 114 feet of 60-0 mph distance. In comparison, the regular 2021 ES 350 gave out a slightly higher 0-60 mph time of 6.1 seconds and a lower top speed of 131 MPH.

The 2021 Volvo S90 turned out to be the most powerful offering of the segment, putting out 316 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. This is followed by the 2021 ES 350 F Sport with 302 hp. Both the 2021 Audi A6 and the 2021 Mercedes Benz E Class gave out a lower 261 hp and 255 hp, respectively. In terms of the acceleration on offer, the 2021 S90 trumps here as well, giving out the best in class 5.6 seconds of 0-60 mph time. The 2021 A6 did the same in 5.8 seconds, which is followed by the 2021 ES 350 F Sport with a time of 5.9 seconds. The 2021 E Class posted the highest 0-60 mph time of 6 seconds.

During our time with an ES350, we observed mileage of 39 mpg during highway driving at 75 mph over the course of 200 miles. - Caranddriver

One of the best parts about the 2021 Lexus ES 350 F Sport is its fuel-efficient engine, which manages to give out an impressive gas mileage that is in line with the rest of the rivals. The 2021 Lexus ES 350 F Sport, which is offered for sale at a base MSRP of $45,800, manages to give out a city gas mileage of 22 MPG and a highway gas mileage of 31 MPG. Combined gas mileage of 25 MPG is offered too.

The 2021 ES 350 F Sport also retains the same 15.9-gallon fuel tank capacity of the outgoing 2020 model and hence retains the city range of 349.8 miles, highway range of 492.9 miles, and the combined range of 397.5 miles. In comparison, the regular 2021 ES 350 managed to give out a slightly superior 26 MPG of combined gas mileage, which helped it to give out a better range as well

However, the 2021 E Class managed to trump when it comes to the range on offer, due to a bigger fuel tank. Lexus wisely decided to leave the 2021 ES's interior mostly untouched. - Carbuzz

The 2021 Lexus ES 350 F Sport is a luxury mid-size sedan that has sporty credentials to it. Coming in with three interior colors, namely circuit red nuluxe, black nuluxe, and rich cream, the 2021 ES 350 F Sport looks and feels opulent and sophisticated like all the European rivals. With the interior coming covered with fine leather, aluminum accents, and chrome accents, the cabin turned out to be even more beautiful than the outgoing 2020 model. The features like heated and powered seats, leather upholstery, heated steering wheel, sunroof, and many more are standard too. Being a 5-seater luxury sedan, it also offers decent front row space, with adequate legroom and headroom.

Since the interior is designed quite well, the ergonomics are also spot on, both for the driver as well as for the passengers. When it comes to the rear row, the space and comfort on offer are slightly superior to some of the rivals. We were quite impressed with the excellent legroom of 39.2", which was the best of the segment. The headroom and shoulder room were also decent. The cargo capacity of 16.7 cu ft makes it a versatile offering of the segment, as it can take in the luggage of all the occupants. However, the rear seat cannot be folded down, which takes a few points away for versatility on offer.

Even though all the offerings of the segment were 5-seater mid-size sedans, the 2021 Lexus ES 350 F Sport does edge ahead when it comes to the rear seat space. It also offered the best under-thigh support for rear-seat passengers. However, the 2021 Volvo S90, 2021 Audi A6, and the 2021 Mercedes Benz E Class gave out a better shoulder room. However, the 2021 ES 350 F Sport topped the chart in the cargo capacity front, which is followed by the 2021 S90. Both the 2021 E Class and the 2021 A6 gave out the lowest cargo space of the segment. The 2021 ES 350 F Sport comes with an 8" infotainment system and the 10-speaker audio system as standard.

Even though the infotainment turned out to be quite decent in terms of usability, features, and display quality, the touchpad controller is quite difficult to master. No touchscreen is also offered, making it even more difficult. Nevertheless, all the connectivity features like Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, USB, AUX, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi hotspot, etc are offered as standard. The 10-speaker Pioneer sourced audio system is excellent too, providing punchy bass and clear vocals. To top it all off, Lexus also offers an optional Mark Levinson audio system to satisfy the audiophiles. Some of the interior and infotainment features on offer with the 2021 ES 350 F Sport are:

  • 8" infotainment system

The Lexus ES does the best job of interpreting the brand’s complex design language. - Edmunds

When it comes to the exterior design, the 2021 Lexus ES 350, which is offered for sale at a base MSRP of $45,800, doesn't see any major changes from the outgoing 2020 model, apart from the arrival of the Black Line Package. This package gives the 2021 ES 350 F Sport a more sinister and upmarket look, mainly due to the blacked-out exterior elements. The front view of the 2021 ES 350 F Sport is highlighted by the quintessential Lexus grille, automatic LED headlights with LED DRLs, chrome accents, and the massive width of 73.4", all of which offer great road presence to this luxury mid-size sedan from Japan.

The side view also stands out from the typical German sedans you see on the American roads, mainly due to the multiple character lines, subtle fender flares, massive 19" alloy wheels wrapped in 235/40R19 all-season tires, and the chrome window lining. The coupe-like roofline looks beautiful too. The car also comes in 8 exterior colors as standard along with 4 additional colors that can be added if you get some of the optional packages. The rear of the 2021 ES 350 F Sport is highlighted by the LED taillights, dual exhausts, shark fin antenna, and chrome garnishes. Even though it looks quite massive from the outside, the curb weight of 3,649 lbs is the lowest of the segment, making it a capable performer as well.

2021 Lexus ES 350 F Sport vs. the 2021 Audi A6

The 2021 Audi A6, which is offered for sale at a base MSRP of $54,900, has always been one of our favorite mid-size luxury sedans. It is luxurious, looks impressive, and offers a comfortable ride quality. The driving dynamics are superior to the 2021 ES 350 F Sport as well. However, the 2021 ES 350 F Sport would be our pick as it is cheaper, faster, and turned out to be the best of the segment in terms of safety. Many interior and infotainment features are standard too.

2021 Lexus ES 350 F Sport vs. 2021 Mercedes Benz E-Class

The 2021 Mercedes Benz E Class is the epitome of the segment if you value comfort and opulence more than anything. The interior is well crafted and every bit worth the base MSRP of $56,750. The car also gets a decent list of features as standard. However, as we said with the 2021 A6, the 2021 E Class is not as powerful as the 2021 ES 350 F Sport. It is also not the most spacious for the rear seat passengers. The cargo space and the reliability offered are not up there with the 2021 ES 350 F Sport either.

2021 Lexus ES 350 F Sport vs. 2021 Volvo S90

The 2021 Volvo S90 is a mid-size luxury sedan that flies under the radar of many American buyers. Available for a base MSRP of $53,800, it is the fastest, most powerful, and turned out to be an impressive overall proposition of the segment. We also like the spacious cabin and the quality interior on offer. However, all of this is also offered by the 2021 ES 350 F Sport. It also managed to trump 2021 S90 in terms of ride quality, reliability, rear-seat space, and safety and driver-assistance features offered as standard.

2021 Lexus ES 350 F Sport Sedan Final Verdict

The 2021 Lexus ES 350 F Sport has a lot of things going for it. It is spacious, offers a comfortable and luxurious interior, and comes with one of the best ride quality of the segment. The interior also gets many features as standard, making it better than all of the European offerings of the segment. The car is sorted when it comes to the safety front as well. However, it is not the most fun to drive of the segment. The infotainment system is a notch below the rivals too. Hence, if you are alright with these issues, we would highly recommend you to get the 2021 Lexus ES 350 F Sport.
