The Range Rover Sport SVR has been one of the most powerful and luxurious full-size SUVs that are on sale in the United States. Offered with an impressive 5L supercharged V8 motor mated to a lighting fast 8-speed automatic transmission, this performance SUV has always managed to thrill the driving enthusiasts with its 575 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. Offered with no major changes from the outgoing 2020 model, the 2021 Range Rover Sport SVR retains the same powertrain, carrying forward the ethos of the moniker. However, the change comes in the form of a Carbon Edition, which gets carbon fiber body and interior panels, keeping the weight down, improving performance and acceleration.

Available in 2 trim configurations, for a base MSRP of $115,500, the 2021 Range Rover Sport SVR also retains the same interior and exterior design and comes with a long list of customization and personalization options, making it one of the most mod-friendly vehicles in the segment. The 2021 Range Rover Sport SVR features all the bells and whistles like 3-zone automatic climate control, head-up display, SVR heated and powered front and rear seats, and many more as standard. Competing with the likes of the 2021 BMW X7 M50i and the 2021 Mercedes Benz AMG GLS 63, we will find out how well the 2021 Range Rover Sport SVR stack up against the rivals in this review.

The 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR satisfies drivers who want every kind of capability in one showy package. - Thecarconnection

The 2021 Range Rover Sport SVR's 5L supercharged V8 motor offers an unmatched 0-60 mph time of 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 176 mph, making it one of the most fun to drive SUVs of the segment. The powerful motor also makes the 2021 Range Rover Sport SVR one of the least fuel-efficient offerings of the segment, giving out just 16 MPG of gas mileage. A towing capacity of 6,613 lbs also makes it a versatile performance SUV of the lot. When it comes to the safety front, the 2021 Range Rover Sport SVR gets many features like automated emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise, etc.

The 2021 Range Rover Sport SVR is also a decently value for money proposition of the lot. This full-size performance SUV can be had for a base lease price of $1,847/month, which is for a 36-month term. The car can also be financed for a monthly payment of $2,086, which is for a down payment of $6,198 and a 60-month term. Even though the miles per dollar ratio and 5-year cost of ownership haven't been revealed yet, we expect the 2021 Range Rover Sport SVR to come out with decent reliability as it received an overall consumer rating of 70 out of 100 in the JD Power report.

The 2021 Range Rover Sport SVR is available for sale at a base MSRP of $115,500 and comes in two trim configurations, namely SVR and SVR Carbon Edition. Even though there isn't any difference from both the trims when it comes to the powertrain, as both of them come with the sesame 5L supercharged V8 motor putting out 575 hp, the major difference is when it comes to the exterior. The SVR Carbon Edition gets a whole load of carbon-fiber exterior and interior elements like the hood, grille, front bumper, dashboard, and many more. Other exterior features like 22" alloy wheels, 21 exterior colors, LED headlights with LED DRLs, etc are standard too.

When it comes to the interior, the 2021 Range Rover Sport SVR sees no major changes from the outgoing 2020 model. It can be had in 4 interior colors, SVR performance front seats, leather upholstery, heated and powered seats, 3-zone automatic climate control system, 10" touchscreen infotainment system, and a 19-speaker Meridian audio system. The safety and driver-assistance features like automated emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, etc are available too. However, some of these features are optional extras. Many customization options are offered too, even though they are very expensive.

2021 Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR SUV Maintenance, Reliability and Warranty

Land Rover’s Range Rover may be one reason why so many people connect SUVs with status. It merged the go-anywhere capability of the original Land Rover with on-road refinement and a characteristic interior. Decades later, it’s still a very polished and competent SUV on asphalt and over marshy land.

Although thinking of spending over $100,000 on a Range Rover, those qualities are anticipated. What isn’t, however, are the endless tales of faulty features and countless repairs. To this day, Range Rovers have fame for unreliability. Which begs the question: are they worth the hype?

2021 Range Rover Sport SVR Ownership Costs and Reliability

Land Rover's reputation for reliability isn't excellent, but the Range Rover Sport is supposed to do better than earlier models. Land Rover has an erratic record for owner satisfaction, but its performance has been somewhat trustworthy.

J.D. Power's rating gives customers an impression of what to foresee when shortlisting new vehicles. The results for new buyers are not satisfying, and Range Rover Sport has an overall rating of 70 out of 100. This is far below its German rivals, which rank around the 90/100 mark in some cases. The further breakdown of the report is as follows:

  • Quality and Reliability - 62/100 (Average)
  • Driving Experience - 81/100 (Great)
  • Resale - 77/100 (Great)
  • Dealership Experience - 65/100 (Average)

Luckily, the Range Rover Sport hasn't been too severely affected by recalls recently, with none for 2020 and just one in 2019, for a crankshaft pulley bolt that could fracture, leading to potential engine failure. In 2018, there were two recalls issued by the NHTSA.

The most expensive variant is the Range Rover Sport SVR, which carries a starting price of $115,500 while the SVR Carbon trim will set you back around $130,500. The average annual repair cost is $1,179, which means it has above average ownership costs.

2021 Range Rover Sport SVR Warranty

The Range Rover Sport comes with a three-year/unlimited-mileage warranty similar to that offered by the majority of rivals. Every new Land Rover is covered by:

  • Four-year/50,000-mile limited
  • 24-hour roadside assistance
  • No complimentary scheduled maintenance

Many owners choose accessories such as towbars with the Range Rover Sport: these are covered by the same new vehicle warranty as well, provided an official Land Rover fits them Approved Service Centre within one month or 1,000 miles.

Miles per dollar Cost

For every mile you’ll make in your Range Rover, you’ll be shelling out $8. This price is still favorable compared with the American Rivals, especially when they’re equipped to the same levels.

2021 Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR SUV Buying Advice

The 2021 Range Rover Sport SVR Carbon Edition, which is available for a base MSRP of $130,000, turned out to be quite an impressive proposition, mainly due to the whole load of carbon fiber elements that are present to the exterior as well as interior, making it one of the best looking and performing SUV. It also gets the massive 22" alloy wheels, which further adds to the precise handling of this performance SUV. Other features like a 19-speaker Meridian audio system, a 10" touchscreen infotainment system, leather upholstery, etc are standard too.

The supercharged V-8 puts out between 518 and 575 horsepower, depending on tune, and as much as 516 lb-ft of torque in the SVR. - Thecarconnection

The 2021 Range Rover Sport SVR is one of the most powerful offerings of the performance full-size SUV segment. Coming with the same 5L supercharged V8 motor mated to the 8-speed ZF torque converter automatic transmission and 4WD drivetrain, the 2021 Range Rover Sport SVR managed to pump out an identical 575 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque, which is similar to the outgoing 2020 model. This SUV also gets multiple driving modes, which makes it a capable machine both on-roads as well as off-road. It offers a maximum towing capacity of 6,613 lbs.

With an adaptive air suspension setup onboard, the 2021 Range Rover Sport SVR is quite impressive when it comes to the ride quality on offer. The car rides flat irrespective of the speed and road surface. It rides quite flat during highway riding and the car can also absorb all the undulations during off-road terrain as well as during slow driving. We were also quite impressed with the excellent body control and precise steering on offer, offering great confidence to the driver. The body roll and understeer on offer are also minimal, especially in comparison to the regular 2020 Range Rover Sport.

The 2021 Range Rover Sport SVR managed to do the 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds and the quarter-mile in 12.7 seconds. This premium performance SUV also did a top speed of 176 MPH, making it one of the fastest of the lot too. With 15" front rotors and 14.4" rear rotors, the 2021 Range Rover Sport SVR also gave out 118 feet of 60-0 mph braking distance. The 2021 Range Rover Sport Autobiography Dynamic SUV did the same 0-60 mph in a higher 5 seconds and offered a top speed of 155 MPH, both of which are not as impressive as the 2021 Range Rover Sport SVR.

Coming with a supercharged V8 motor under the hood, we did not expect the 2021 Range Rover Sport SVR to impress us when it comes to the gas mileage on offer. With a city gas mileage of 15 MPG and a highway gas mileage of 20 MPG, the 2021 Range Rover Sport SVR managed to give out a mediocre 16 MPG of combined gas mileage.

The 2021 Range Rover Sport SVR, which is available for a base MSRP of $115,500, comes with no changes to the exterior design, other than the inclusion of the all-new Carbon Edition, which gets carbon fiber exterior panels like the hood, grille, front bumper, and many more, making it look very sporty. This also helps the car to be one of the lightest of the lot too, helping it in terms of performance and acceleration. The front view of the 2021 Range Rover Sport SVR also stands out from the rivals due to the imposing hood, wide air dam & masculine bumpers, and best in class ground clearance of 10.4".

Offered in 21 exterior colors, the 2021 Range Rover Sport SVR also offers an excellent road presence, even when viewed from the sides as well. The side view of this SUV stands out due to the air vent in the fender, subtle fender flares, and the massive 21" or 22" alloy wheels (depending on the trim). The blacked-out pillars and roof also make it look quite stunning,. The rear view of the 2021 Range Rover Sport SVR remains unchanged with LED taillights, a quad exhaust system, an integrated roof spoiler, and many subtle elements. However, with no changes on offer, we would recommend you to check out the used Range Rover Sport SVR here, if you are planning to get one.

The 2021 Range Rover Sport SVR turned out to be an impeccable offering of the segment if you value both performance and opulence. Coming with the powerful V8 motor and excellent air suspension, the 2021 Range Rover Sport SVR also offered a pliant ride quality along with unmatched performance in off-roads. The features on offer are also quite long, making it a brilliant tool for families. No car can be perfect than this.

Pros - The fact that it is the best vehicle ever is enough for me to like everything about it.

Cons - Nothing.

The best car in terms of reliability. I trust both the company and the model immensely. One of the historic vehicle models, that I have grown accustomed to. Plenty of leg room in front and back seats. Perfect for our family of 3. The 5.0L supercharged V8 is FAST, it can go just about anywhere, it’s extremely safe, and it exudes elegance when I show up to important meetings. Perfect all around vehicle for an executive with a family who also likes to have a little fun. I really getting my Land Rover here for repairs. I have always been impressed with the staff communication, transperant process and even the cleanliness on the shop floor! Great place!

Muscular SUV

Pros - The Rear seat entertainment is exceptionally great. Luxury, and power.

Cons - The smell of leather seating is annoying. Underbody is not great. Maintenance cost is expensive.

I believe its a reliable car as far as performance, comfort and durability are concerned. This is my 4th car all together but when it comes to Range Rover, it is by far the most sophisticated and beautiful car I have ever owned! Although the service here is good, they proviode the customers with inflated bills for sure. I happened to realise about it when talking with a fellow Range Rover owner. I hate to ghost this place like this. People here were really friendly!
