Kia Motors is South Korea’s second-largest automobile manufacturer with sales of over 2.9 million vehicles in 2019. Hyundai owns a 33.88% stake in the company and is valued at over US $6-billion. The company is headquartered in Seoul, the capital of South Korea. The word “KIA” derives from the Sino-Korean characters which roughly translated as "Rising from the East”. The company was founded in 1944 as Kyungsung Precision Industry which started from manufacturing steel tubing and bicycle parts. Later in 1951 moved to produce Korea's first domestic bicycle named the Samchully. In 1952, Kyungsung Precision Industry changed its name to Kia Industries. More About Kia

Kia
This South Korean brand will soon get a new redesigned logo as part of the brand's future plans for expansion and brand identity.

In the 1960s KIA expanded the lineup from motorcycles to three-wheeled cargo vehicles. This was one step closer to automobile manufacturing and by the start of the next decade, KIA started moving towards the same direction by building a facility to manufacture automobiles to turn their dream of producing automobiles into reality. By 1973 Kia was all set to open its first integrated automotive assembly plant and kept on building small cars until 1981. Upcoming models by the decade’s end were the Peugeot 604 and the Fiat 132.

The company was facing financial difficulties in the late 90s which was preventing KIA from expanding its lineup. Hyundai acquired KIA which gave the brand a major upswing. It resulted in improved build quality, performance, and overall refinement. Increased warranty programs helped KIA to gain confidence in customers as reliability was a weak point in their cars back then. Currently, KIA is building great cars in every segment from coupes to crossovers. Major sales points are added due to stand out designs, value for money pricing, and performance-focused options. The company is also planning to invest in autonomous self-driving cars and technologies related to the same. The government is also supporting companies in taking further steps towards autonomous driveability.

The current lineup of KIA cars offers a wide range of engine options and plans to make them even better with improved range and refinement. The company is working on launching 14 new eco models worldwide which include a mixture of hybrids, plug-in hybrids, full electric, fuel cell-powered cars by 2020. Connected and electric vehicles are the need or we can say demand of the future and Kia is taking care of it by investing in more eco-friendly and resource-conserving successors which are also cheaper to run on a daily basis. An uncommon change in perspective is compelling the automotive industry to experience a complete update. Old gasoline engines are being replaced with more environmentally friendly hybrid and electric vehicles. Cars are learning how to drive by themselves while receiving over the air updates for a completely new experience.

Kia Motors aspires to be a part of this future and provide better products to its customers. Introduced in 2018, the new Niro EV model symbolizes Kia's ACE system which is catering towards integrating autonomous systems in its vehicles. It imprints the significant advance toward fulfilling the vision of making the most environmentally friendly, reliable, and economic vehicles through innovation.
