Jeep Renegade is the smallest SUV in Jeep’s lineup but the Renegade doesn’t want people to get fooled with its size. The 2019 Jeep Renegade, draws inspiration from its other bigger sibling, the Wrangler and Cherokee. The Jeep Renegade packs in a typical Jeep design on the outside with its 7 slot grille being the most noticeable element of the lot.

Other than this, the Renegade has some cool modern touches like LED Headlights and Taillights, upmarket Infotainment system with 4G connectivity and a lot more. For the off-roading part, Jeep has supplied the Renegade with skid plates for the underbody and a lot more. Buyers can also fiddle around with two engine options: a 1.3L Turbo Petrol and the 2.4L Naturally Aspirated motor. The Primary rivals for the Renegade come in the form of the Honda HR-V, Ford Ecosport and the Mazda CX-3.

Final Verdict
The 2019 Jeep Renegade comes in a total of 4 trims-Sport, Latitude, Trailhawk, and Limited. All trims, except the Trailhawk comes in either FWD or AWD configuration while the Trailhawk comes in just an AWD setup. Jeep does give customers an option of upgrading to an All-New 1.3L motor that generates more power than the 1.3L Unit it replaces. Jeep has also bumped the number of features on offer on the 2019 Renegade as well.

We recommend
The Limited trim offers a lot of creature comforts like Power adjust seats, auto dimming IRVM and more features that are very usable in daily driving. Hence, that's the trim to choose according to us.
Jeep has revamped its engine line up for the 2019 Renegade. The base 2.4L Tigershark Multiair 2 Engine, standard on the Sport and the Latitude trims makes about 180hp and 175lbs.-ft. of Torque. The New 1.3L MultiJet Turbo Motor with Direct Injection motor delivers 177hp and 210lbs.-ft. of torque and replaces the old 1.4L Multi Jet motor.
The New 1.3L Motor, despite being smaller in displacement than the motor it displaces, still belts out a lot more power and has better responses to throttle Inputs. Jeep has also standardized the 9 Speed Automatic on all trims and users no longer have a manual transmission, even as option. The Turbo Motor comes standard with Start/Stop Technology that aids the efficiency of the Motor on the whole.

In terms of the rivals, the Jeep manages to outshine the competition in terms of power and performance figures by a big margin. What is disappointing is the fact that the transmission in the Jeep isn\u2019t the most-slick shifting unit and can be clumsy and noisy while shifting gears.
The Jeep Renegade performs as well as the other cars in the segment in terms of the 0-60 runs. Things however become a bit less favorable for the Jeep, as it is the slowest to do the quarter mile dash. In terms of daily driving however, the Multiair motor never runs out of breath even under demanding situations.

Talking competition, the Mazda CX-3 manages to run rings around rivals in the 0-60 timings and the quarter mile dash as well. The Ford and the Honda match each other in the quarter mile dash but the Honda manages to beat the Ford in the 0-60 dash.
The 2019 Renegade comes with Active Braking (advanced brake assist that increases the brake pressure if the driver is not braking enough). Brake pedals feel firm and it stops from 60-0 in 126 feet, which is average for the class.

Speaking of rivals, it's the Mazda CX-3 again that trumps the others with its braking performance. The compact Ford Ecosport is the second best after the Mazda, courtesy of its potent brakes while the Honda and the Jeep are separated by the smallest of margins.
You will be as happy to drive the Renegade on the city roads as on the rocky terrains, thanks to its relaxed and composed handling. It doesn’t lean on sides while cornering and feels agile. When it comes to the trims, the Latitude offers sharper and engaging drive than the Trailhawk. The steering wheel on the Renegade feels light and weighs up well at speeds.
On a daily driving basis, the Jeep won't disappoint as well courtesy of its very capable driving manners and a good composure on road. Vibrations are contained at city speeds and the compact proportions, adds to the maneuverability of the SUV in the city. The Trailhawk trim feels the best Off-Road and the potent AWD setup ensures that the Jeep doesn’t disappoint on those tough terrains.
The Jeep Renegade manages to weigh in its off-road credentials in the towing capacity as well. The Jeep Renegade can tug up to 2,000 pounds and doesn't lose breath in towing the same. This towing capacity can be used for hauling small boats, trailers, and snowmobiles.

The Mazda CX-3 has the dynamic edge over the rest of its rivals but in terms of towing capacity, it fails miserably and comes up with the least figures here. The Ford and the Honda come toe to toe in terms of capacity but still fall short of the Jeep mighty 2000lbs capacity.
The Jeep Renegade offers decent fuel efficiency for the kind of engines it comes with. However, it compromises the MPG figures while achieving the same. The base Renegade with 1.3-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder has an EPA rating of 24 mpg city, 31 highways and 26 combined with both front and all-wheel drive. While the 2.4-liter inline-4 offers 21/29/24 mpg with AWD and 22/30/25 mpg with front-wheel drive.

Speaking of rivals, the Mazda CX-3, again manages to trump the competition by a distant margin and keeps its Head above the others. The Ford on the other hand, manages to surprise by pulling off a decent combined MPG figure when compared to the others in the segment.
Inside, the Renegade is not as impressive as others in the segment. Material quality is average with hard plastics although once you are inside the lovely texture and color choices on the dashboard brighten things up. For a small car, it has plenty of space inside with enough headroom for taller folks although they might find the legroom a bit tight.

The cabin cuts you completely from the engine noise but wind noise is an issue considering its boxy shape. Latitude trim soaks up bumps better than the Trailhawk and offers better ride quality. The driving position is comfortable and the upright windshield provides you a broader view of the road ahead. The Renegade boasts comfy seats with a wide range of adjustments. Some of the interior features offered in the 2019 Jeep Renegade are:
Renegade’s Uconnect Infotainment system is one of the most user-friendly that is available in the market. It responds quickly to commands and it is easy to navigate through the menu. Jeep has ensured that all the controls are within reach and logically arranged.
Standard feature includes:
Not the best in class but still the 2019 Jeep Renegade offers a respectable amount of cargo space with 18.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row and 50.8 cubic feet overall. There is also an optional front passenger seat folding available which lets you carry long objects.

The Honda HR-V capitalizes on its spacious interiors as it offers the most cargo space while the Ford Ecosport manages to come a close second. The Jeep falls short of the Ford by a very short margin while the Mazda loses out in this category, big time.
The 2019 Renegade is soulfully a Jeep with its round headlight, seven-slot grilles, and craggy attitude. It is a real Jeep and from outside it gives you the feel of the DNA that it carries from the iconic Wrangler and luxurious Grand Cherokee. The Renegade looks modern rather than retro with an abundance of black trim and curved surfacing.

There are some interesting things to talk about when it comes to the exterior. Like the X-featured taillight is derived from World War-II-era army jerrycans. The wheels have been squared-off giving it a more rugged look and the major difference between trims is that Sports models have flat black trim while the Limited model showcases a contrasting black roof. Top trim Trailhawk wears black wheels and a red tow hook. Some of the Exterior features include:
NHTSA gives the Renegade 4-stars overall rating while the IIHS scores it Good on most test but Acceptable on the small-overlap front-impact. Jeep has also scored poorly when it comes to headlights. It covers the Renegade with a 3-year/36,000-mile limited warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty. Some of the safety features offered include:
The 2019 Honda HR-V comes with better rear-seat adjustments. It also boasts better mileage and has more cargo space than the Renegade. Apart from this, you get air conditioning, cruise control, anti-theft system, fog lights and alloy wheels as standard on the Honda and not on the Renegade. However, with Jeep, you get a more rugged looking SUV which appeals more to off-road junkies. With a price difference of $1500 between the two, Honda with its features scores better.
It may not have the toughness of the Renegade, but the Mazda CX-3 is a good SUV. Once inside the car, you would love its driving dynamics and sporty handling. It also scores better when it comes to fuel efficiency and its crash test results are best in the class. Mazda CX-3 also brings a more luxurious cabin than the Renegade.
Ford EcoSport is best suited to city driving rather than going off-roading. These two are completely different compact SUVs. Ford gives you better mileage and interior whereas, Renegade performs awesomely well while off-roading and is also a good city driver. It also has more space inside and comes at a lesser price than the Ford. Go for the Renegade, as it helps you in multi-tasking while with EcoSport you are limited to city and highway.
The 2019 Jeep Renegade is a good step from Jeep in providing buyers, a small but immensely practical SUV. With a ton of modern features like a Touchscreen infotainment System with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Dual Zone climate control and more, the Renegade packs a punch in terms of keeping in pace with the times. Coupled with the Jeep DNA and its rugged off road ability, what you have in handis a perfect blend of a Compact SUV that can take you to the office and satisfy your needs for adventure.
