Have you wished for a rugged, hot-blooded American Truck that can roam on any terrain you want to? The 2021 Jeep Gladiator is here to fulfill that desire, true to its name this rugged pickup can conquer terrains like no other. A Wrangler with a bed added behind to make it more utilitarian, the Gladiator has a Macho American zeal to it that most trucks in this segment lack. An old-school design is certain to bring back the glory days of the classic Jeep making it a very desirable commodity.

2021 Jeep Gladiator Crew Cab third quarter view

We expect the 2021 Jeep Gladiator Crew Cab to come in the fall of 2020, the price range will remain the same as in the 2020 version i.e. MSRP $35,000-$ 46,000; we also expect no new refreshments to be added. Being a benchmark model itself, but there are excellent rivals renowned in this segment for many years as compared to this new Gladiator i.e. 2021 Honda Ridgeline, 2021 Ford Ranger, and 2021 Toyota Tacoma.

5.0/10

2021 Jeep Gladiator Crew Cab is going to have amazing 7 trims again as like 2020 version i.e. Sport, Sport S, Altitude, Overland, Rubicon, Mojave, and limited North edition. These 7 trims give the flexibility of options and features to choose as per customer requirements. With only standard 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine paired with standard and only AWD drivetrain, every trim provides the best driving experience with its sturdy body, which is a hallmark for Jeep brand.

2021 Jeep Gladiator Crew Cab side view

Transmission is a 6-Speed manual as standard available in all trims with available 8-Speed Automatic 850RE Transmission which is standard only in Altitude and limited North edition trims and available in all other trims as an optional feature priced at $2,000. Automatic transmission present in Altitude and North edition gives an edge over other trims. The table below comprises key features, and we expect a price of trim in 2020 version as there are no additional features added and no expected change in price and 2021 version to follow the legacy of the elder brother.

Maintenance is not so expensive but at the same time not so low as Edmunds True Own to Cost tool which comprises taxes, insurance, depreciation cost, etc. has determined ownership cost for 5 years for 2020 version which costs $ 42,000 approximately to an owner of Sports trim and ranges to $ 56,000 which is highest for Rubicon trim to maintain by an owner. Miles Per Dollar

Miles per dollar is generally given by MPG of car divided by fuel price per gallon. It usually varies according to taxes in different states and hence, leads to different miles per dollar for different cities and states in the country. For example, in Washington, by taking city MPG of the car as 16 and the price of regular gas per gallon for today is $2.26, then miles per dollar will be 7 and hence, depends on miles covered too. Similarly, for Washington, it will be 5.71 miles per dollar, for California it will be 5 miles per dollar.

2021 Jeep Gladiator Buying Advice

We will recommend Altitude trim to cover the overall requirements of every customer as it has an automatic transmission, all features are either available as standard or as optional features that are present in higher trims too. Altitude trim is most preferred as well as best buying option as it has the brilliant towing capacity, strong wheels, a plethora of infotainment features, various safety and security systems with many packages and features available as optional for customers to embed in this trim according to needs.

Is buying a used car Jeep Gladiator Crew Cab a good idea?

Jeep has average maintenance cost and depreciation cost is also average which will be good for sellers but not for buyers as they can buy a new one by adding a few thousands of dollars. Jeep Gladiator is an extension of Jeep Wrangler and hence, manufactured with many similarities. JD Power report has not rated Gladiator but Wrangler has been rated and due to many similarities, it can be a good option to take the idea of Wrangler on behalf of Gladiator. Wrangler scored 88 in the resale value and hence, Gladiator can also be expected to have good resale experience and resale can be a better thing for buyers and those who want to buy a used Jeep Gladiator at a low price, but it is better to buy a new one as compared to old ones.

2021 Jeep Gladiator Fuel Economy

3.0/10

2021 Jeep Gladiator is going to come with the major drawback of this model with poor fuel economy with MPG in the city is just 16, at the highway, it becomes 23 and combined gives 19 MPG, which is very less as compared to big trucks and it is one of the most important things for such pickup trucks to run long and fuel economy is very important to be excellent to provide long rides. 2021 Jeep Gladiator Crew Cab Vs 2020 Toyota Tacoma Crew Cab

Toyota, being Japanese truck is more efficient, smoother transmission, faster, speedier but seriously lags in providing powerful performance, more range, more fuel capacity, more spacious cabins, and extraordinary dimensions of Jeep.

A price to pay

Pros - Mud terrain tires, red themed interiors, rock hard built quality

Cons - Bed size, visibility, side mirrors

Overall Review

9 /10 Overall Rating

Not the handling, power, or tires that actually makes it the best offroading pickup (sure these help) but its the rock hard built quality that makes it shine even in the most abandoned ghost towns and rocky surfaces. Whenever I drive it out for offroading, I know its going to take whatever surfaces have to shower from beneath.

This is why Jeep is my favorite

Pros - Can be what I want it to be, utility, covertible and powerful

Cons - No diesel engine option, poor mpg and maneuverability in city

Overall Review

9 /10 Overall Rating

A pure pickup that has taken some wannabe lessons from its adventurous sibling. Driving never really happens to be same and everytime I'm behind the wheel, a whole set of different feeling is on board. Windshield on and you're out for some fun on a sunny day. With it back in place and windows rolled up while driving in 4L translates to some serious business. Lastly, gets paranoid about something in city traffic and starts to behave more like a Lux (never driven one before though).

Paying the price at the fuel station

Pros - Not

Cons - Roof leaks, disgrace to the the Wrangler in terms of power

Overall Review

1 /10 Overall Rating

Roof leaks and whenever it starts to rain, I always end up have regrets of buying it. Took it to the dealership and yeah, they don't have parts to replace it( not sure what parts are we talking about). There is more to the so called Gladiator that actually doesn't even know the meaning of the its name. Its a disgrace to the actual Wrangler from which it was born. No optional engine options, just a mediocre motor under the hood that generates mediocre power which every other brand seems to be offering nowadays, if not more.

No surprises here!

Gladiator checks all the obvious boxes keeping the obscure ones out of the list. Handles like a truck and no surprises there. What I rather like is the 4wd stick, easy to use, and changing drive modes takes cares of stuff like traction and shift points.

Clearly the best to get things done

Stick transmission on the center console with a dedicated one to engage all four wheels, old school feeling is inevitable. Talking about the Gladiator's drive quality, nothing comes close to it. I've owned 6 cars till now and this is my second pickup truck and I think I have a fairly deserve to make this comment. Its a truck that can tow pretty much like those superduty ones but robust enough to e...
