The different trims provide best-in-class cabin features, stylish aesthetic appeal, and much more. But the 2021 Jeep Cherokee will still have to worry about rivals like Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5, and Subaru Forester to be at the top in the segment.

2021 Jeep Cherokee Features

8.3/10

The 2021 Jeep Cherokee will add a 3-row SUV trim, moving forward to the next decade. A hybrid powerful is also a reasonable prospect since Jeep is far off with any type of hybridization. Along with such speculations, the Jeep will retain the multiple trims for the Cherokee crossover. These trims are named Latitude, Latitude Plus, Altitude, Limited, Trailhawk, High Altitude, and special editions namely Latitude LUX and 80th anniversary. The Jeep Cherokee can be chosen in any trim attire combined with front-wheel drive and 4-wheel-drive options for the same trims. The Jeep Cherokee starts from a base price of $26,535 and goes as high as $38,465.

2021 Jeep Cherokee Maintenance, Reliability and Warranty

Jeep is a top-notch brand that delivers quality SUVs and crossovers that combine the off-roading traits with comfortable family SUV ones in a single body. The FCA based Jeep brand is renowned for its build quality and reliability on toughest roads. Along with premium interior accents and attire.

Reliability and Ownership cost

The Jeep competes with strong rivals like Ford, GMC, and many more well-settled companies in the market, yet it outpaces them with new technology and a unique approach in vehicles. Jeep has been known with a popular vehicle lineup that includes Wrangler and Gladiator that are known for their ruggedness and long-lasting build quality.

The pricing varies in different states due to destination fees and state taxes. The Cherokee has an average fluctuation between $1000-$1500 which makes it highly flexible over the various states to own. Interestingly different states provide different leasing and financing deals for cars and in some cases the difference is significantly large.

The 2021 Jeep Cherokee has been inspired by the decades-old experience and delivers the same in the present times. The 2021 Jeep Cherokee can be owned at an average price tag of $25,840.

Warranty

The 2021 Jeep Cherokee comes with a 3-year/36,000 miles limited warranty with 5-year/60,000 miles powertrain warranty and Roadside assistance. These are accompanied by a 5-year/unlimited miles corrosion warranty for the crossover.

Powertrain Warranty

Roadside Assistance

Five Year or 60,000 miles

The rivals extend a similar warranty scheme as the Jeep Cherokee, which is the result of a hugely crowded crossover segment.

Miles Per Dollar

The Cherokee will have a MPD (miles per dollar) ratio of 3.07. This means the Cherokee runs for 3.07 miles for every dollar you spend on it. This ratio is achieved by factoring all the running costs including taxes, insurance, fuel costs to the average distance covered in a year.

2021 Jeep Cherokee Buying Advice

The 2021 Jeep Cherokee is powerful off-roading and daily use vehicle that can be availed in different attires. Combining the aggressive looks with premium cabin features, the Jeep crossover is a practical vehicle that comes along with decent fuel efficiency to attract buyers from various segments. 2021 is speculated to bring a 3-row variant that will heighten the utility of the crossover.

Is buying a used 2021 Jeep Cherokee a good idea?

The Jeep Cherokee is not something you should call as an investment. It can be seen that the Cherokee loses around $8900 in its first year as depreciation. Given that it is a near $40K SUV, it shouldn’t be that much of an issue. However, if you’d bought the base SLE at around $25K, losing $9000 is something to be considered. Eyeing a used Jeep Cherokee? If so then the 2018 model seems ideal since it has already lost a chunk in terms of depreciation and has almost plateaued.

2021 Jeep Cherokee Engine and Performance

7.6/10

The 2021 Jeep Cherokee gets three different engine options maintaining a perfect balance between powerful performance and fuel economy. The most fittings see a 2.4L Naturally Aspirated Inline-4 engine which powers the mid-size SUV with 180-hp and 171 lb-ft of torque. A more thirsty and powerful 3.2-liter V6 engine peeks through the upper trims grille, which powers the Jeep Cherokee with 271 horsepower and 239 lb-ft of torque which can tow up to 4,500 pounds as compared to 4,000 pounds by the 2.4L engine configuration.

2021 Jeep Cherokee engine

A more economical offering by the Jeep seeks a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 fitting which equally pushes out 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque yet delivers impressive mpg figures too. Pick an engine fitting and a 9-speed automatic transmission follows for mating. The Jeep Cherokee happens to be a front-wheel-drive or a 4-wheel drive as per the buyers' comfort. The 4x4 capability is upper trims take the off-roading game to the next level by automatically shifting the powertrain for enhanced grips.

Similar to Jeep Cherokee, other rivals also offer different engine options while Honda stands out to be the only crossover with hybrid assistance. Surprisingly, the Honda CR-V tops the chart with the smallest engine under the hood, while the Cherokee sits at last. However, the Jeep Cherokee reflects the best-in-class towing capacity of at least 4,000 pounds while the others support way too little weights.

2021 Jeep Cherokee Acceleration and Braking Performance

The Jeep Cherokee fits various powerful attachments under the hood, the 9-speed automatic transmission gushes powers and launches the Jeep's compact crossover from standstill to 60 mph in 7.6 seconds, covering a quarter-mile patch in 16 seconds.

2021 Jeep Cherokee accelerate 0-60 mph just in 7.6 sec.

While the 3.2L hungry V6 reduces the 0-60 mph sprint to 6.7 seconds. While the same fitting tops the SUV to a 131 mph speed line. The Jeep Cherokee fits Anti-lock disc brakes on all four wheels and with Advanced brake assist the crossover comes to halt in just 128 ft.

The 2021 Jeep Cherokee offers power mixed with efficiency. The Cherokee crossover will not only serve the driver with power but save the fuel expenses, as it delivers impressive 22 mpg and 31 mpg for city hauling and highway runs respectively.

2021 Jeep Cherokee Interior

8.0/10

Commodious, comforting, and deluxe are all rhyming words to the 2021 Jeep Cherokee’s insides. The Cherokee’s cabin can squad up to 5 passengers easily, and comfort them in the cozy bucket seats, which can be wrapped with cloth, premium vinyl, genuine leather, and even premium Nappa leather as per the trim chosen by the buyers. This also embraces heating and ventilation options in the upper trims.

2021 Jeep Cherokee front seat

The dash, the doors, and everything in the cabin can also be covered by vinyl or Nappa leather and can be flaunted in Black, Ski-Gray, and Piano black accents with similarly decorative stitching.

The Full Sunroof with Power Front and Fixed Rear forms as one of the comfort cabin features along with heating steering wheel option in premium trims. The cabin is conditioned by dual-zone automatic climate control. Though, the Cherokee crumples the storage part and offers a decent 25.8 cu-ft of boot space.

The 2021 Jeep Cherokee may soon be available with an additional row in the crossover, but until that, the crossover isn't the best cabin to stretch and yawn out the tiredness as compared to Subaru or even the most mentioned, Honda CR-V. Even with the boot space numbers, the Cherokee is the least pleasure compared to Honda( 39.2 cu-ft), Mazda (30.9 cu-ft), and Subaru ( 31.1 cu-ft).

How’s the 2021 Jeep Cherokee infotainment system?

The infotainment list begins with a center 7-inch display with a Uconnect infotainment system, while the upper trims get blessed with a bigger 8.4-inch screen with a UConnect NAV system. Both interfaces are user friendly and support both Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity. The Navigation gets followed in the list, with voice control commands for the crossover.

The 2021 Jeep Cherokee stands out as a taller, aggressive-looking crossover and can cater to a wide range from daily family hauler to off-roading demands. The heaviest in the table, Cherokee merges the sportiness along with utility very well and the stylish quotient makes every buyer flaunt it on the driveway, rather than hiding it in the garage.

2021 Jeep Cherokee Competition

7.5/10

2021 Jeep Cherokee vs 2020 Honda CR-V

The Honda CR-V could easily rank above the 2021 Jeep Cherokee and it easily beats the latter on almost all fronts including power, fuel efficiency, and acceleration.

2020 Honda CR-V

The subtleness is well reflected in Honda's interior as it marks as the only rival to offer a hybrid powertrain option. While Jeep Cherokee can very well serve on rough patches, steep rugged climbs, and also carry family and their luggage, Honda CR-V, on the other hand, remains a full-time family hauler for most of the buyers.

2021 Jeep Cherokee vs 2020 Mazda CX-5

The 2020 Mazda CX-5 is a gorgeous crossover and is one of the best picks in the segment. The precise handling and great driving dynamics are unmatched and it brings the premium upholstery that can compete against top-tier rivals like Audi and Mercedes.

2020 Mazda CX-5

Jeep Cherokee has an opposite character and can go on roads, where Mazda can fear scratches. The off-roading traits are multiplied with optional 4-wheel-drive and the powerful engines bring the muscular side of the crossovers.

2021 Jeep Cherokee vs 2020 Subaru Forester

The Subaru Forester is one of the most selling crossovers, with decent interior attire and subtle exterior appeal, while Jeep Cherokee attracts eyes like moths to flames.

2020 Subaru Forester

The Cherokee is an off-roading underdog but lacks the spacious cabin traits as the Forester.

2021 Jeep Cherokee Final Verdict

The 2021 Jeep Cherokee extends a plethora of options disguised as trims, engine and powertrain options for the buyers to choose. The aggressive and sporty looks combined with decent cabin comfort features help Jeep Cherokee stand out, while it impressively holds the off-roading grounds tightly with a four-wheel drive option.

Will never let you forget its a budget trim of Cherokee

Pros - Everything but

Cons - All plastic interiors, mpg, three missing buttons on steering wheel

9 /10 Overall Rating

I love the way it drives where it just nails the city commuting and never gets on my nerves of having to go through endless hassle to park it. Albeit I've been paying the price at the gas stations.

So many equipment missing

Pros - Dedicated offroad suspension, ample power, built quality

Cons - Stiff steering wheel, no options for beadlock rims or mud terrain tires, ground clearance

Overall Review

9 /10 Overall Rating

Quite evident that the Trailhawk is specifically made to tear apart those off tarmac drives and still does well on asphalt. I still believe everything could have been a lot better in terms of inclination towards the offroading for which it is made. Starting off with the handling, I did not expect it to do stunning on corners or in back lanes but the stiffness is just unacceptable ( in low speeds). Apart from this, optional stuff like mud terrain tires or beadlock rims also seem to be hard to find. In fact the salesperson stopped on his tracks when I asked about them. On too of this, ground clearance has been the biggest issue and an extra inch or two might have been able to justify the tag "Trailhawk".
