The Jaguar F-PACE SVR has been the Jaguar that brought performance down to the SUVs. We have had fast sedans, coupes and roadsters for a very long time. Now we have a fast SUV from the British marquee as well. Having origins in the humble F-Pace, this SUV looks extremely appetising and packs tremendous performance.
The model year 2021 sees a few changes in the exterior as well as few important changes in the mechanical side as well. The powertrain is tweaked to supply more torque and the acceleration is faster now due to a tweaked transmission tuning. Inside you’ll get a brand-new infotainment system as a lesson redesigned dashboard. There are several changes that make the car fresh for the model year and it starts at around $ 85,000.

The 2021 model year gets a serious refresh.
Along with design changes on the exterior that make it look sleek and stylish, it also gets her dashboard that is redesigned and looks plush.
There is a new curved 11.4 inch touchscreen and updated infotainment system.
The door panels see an addition of faux suede accents which continue to the dashboard.
Other changes include a redesigned shift knob and new cubby holes.
Wireless charging and active noise cancellation are now standard as well.

Fast, dashing, plush, are words that are synonymous with the Jaguar F-Pace. It has been around in the market for a while now and has met the expectations of its buyers time and again. The new redesign proves to be a dashing and desirable oblation to an already sought after car.
Jaguar has not shied away from updating its powerful SUV which is now faster and more fun to drive. It receives incremental tweaks in most of the systems and users are brand-new power steering to improve the connection between the driver and the road. The chassis bushings are also new to improve this connection.
The F-Pace SVR is available only in one trim. This is because it is already a powerful version of the F-Pace which comes with trims like the S and the R-Dynamic on top of the regular version. Although these versions start at around $ 45,000, the SVR is much costlier at an MSRP of $ 85,000. All-wheel drive is standard on the SVR version whereas it is not on the lower trim levels.

Because it is offered only in one trim level, Jaguar ensures that it has equipped its SUV with most features as standard. It is not a stripped down and barebones car that offers little in the way of luxury. The SVR represents the best of both luxury as well as performance in Jaguar’s stable.
When it comes to reliability ratings and ownership costs, Jaguars of the past have not exactly been class leaders. Heavy maintenance costs have plagued the brand for a very long time and have been responsible for some low sales despite producing excellent cars. However, things have changed now and the brand slowly regained reputation in terms of the above. Reliability is slowly becoming better even though one cannot compare it to several German or Japanese brands.

Even though one cannot find details about the specific cars we are comparing, their base versions are tested and ratings have been recorded. These are all for the 2020 models except for the Alfa, which has been tested only in 2019. However since this was the same model, we can take those results and have conclusions based on that. The Porsche Macan is the most reliable car of the lot and it has even performed well enough to earn dependability awards by J.D. Power. When compared to this, the Jaguar definitely is performing below the ideal but that is not to say that it is unreliable.
The 2021 model is only announced as of now and the prices that we know so far are only expected prices. For this reason, we do not know any of the State wise price differences and hence cannot comment on the same. However one might be able to find offers depending on their dealers. The people from Montana, New Hampshire, Oregon, Atlanta and Delaware enjoy the lowest prices as they are exempted of sales taxes on auto sales. You can only avail this if you’re a resident of that particular state however.
When it comes to the actual ownership costs of the car, over a five-year period, we were able to estimate that it comes up to $105,876. This is quite a reasonable amount and shows that the performance SUV is pretty maintenance free. Repairs are slightly expensive at $5000 and maintenance at $8000.
Jaguar now offers excellent warranty for all its vehicles due to the fact that the vehicles are not exactly reputed to provide excellent after sales service. Now however you can get over those worries due to comprehensive warranty coverage that would be more than enough for most buyers. Below are the details of Jaguar’s warranty:

As one can observe, the Jaguar warranty terms are the best of the lot no matter which category you look for. This is in contrast to Porsche which provides very minimal warranty but has a reputation for making reliable cars. We would hope that this is enough to fill confidence in minds of people who are hesitant to make a decision about the Jaguar.
Considering that the Jaguar F-Pace SVR has not been around for a very long time, one would find it hard to get a used car of the same. If one is able to however, it would definitely be a good buy. But considering the fact that it does come with incremental updates over the years, this is not the option we would recommend.
The bulk of depreciation on a vehicle like 2021 Jaguar F-Pace SVR occurs in the first three years. By this time the car is expected to retail only 59% of its value. After that the vehicle continues to lose value steadily and retains only 42% of its value in the fifth year. Hence if you’re looking for a cheap deal it would be ideal looking for a car that is three years or older.
Jaguar is certainly not at all stingy when it comes to offering engines that get work done. The SVR features the biggest of all petrol engines to roll out of their factory - a 5 L supercharged V8. This engine is also extremely powerful and pumps out 550 hp and 502 lb-ft of torque.
There are no other engines offered on the car as it comes in only one trim level. Buyers who are conscious about fuel efficiency or maintenance costs can opt for lesser versions such as the F-Pace S or the base version. Jaguar has once again kept the options plain and simple but functional.

The Jaguar F-Pace has the strongest powertrain of the bunch. Even though it’s competitors all have extremely powerful engines, it is the only one with a V8. All of them have automatic transmissions and all-wheel drive as standard. The Porsche, Alfa and the BMW have much smaller engines but return excellent power outputs.
All of them being performance SUVs, the acceleration figures are a topic of hot debate and keeps buyers very much interested. For this reason it is important to analyse what comes in the form of acceleration and braking performance of these vehicles. One certainly feels a rush in the acceleration or braking in all four cars.We shall look at the figures below.

Although the Jaguar has the most powerful powertrain of the lot, we do not find this in the acceleration figures. Cars with much lower power outputs often excel in the acceleration figures and this category is a perfect example of that phenomenon. Here we see the much less powerful Macan being more competitive and the BMW absolutely smashing the Jaguar down in terms of acceleration.
Braking distances obtained were sub-par at 113 feet to come to a complete halt from 60 mph. Even though this is the best in its category, this is not something to be extremely proud of. With braking distances now edging close to and even falling below hundred feet for many cars, this is not acceptable for a performance vehicle. However, this is similar across all of its competitors and hence it is not something we can complain about.
Sporting the biggest engine in the category, one would not expect that the Jaguar F-Pace SVR would be anywhere near to being fuel-efficient. But it exceeds our expectations by being so. Although its combined MPG of 18 does not make it the most fuel-efficient car we have seen, in its category of performance SUVs it certainly is a healthy figure.

Even though the Jaguar is more powerful, it returns fuel efficiency greatly. This makes it competitive with even the most fuel-efficient vehicle of its class, the Alfa. We do not know how exactly the supercharged V8 was more fuel-efficient than the downsized turbocharged engines but it is what it is. For striking the best compromise between power and fuel efficiency, Jaguar combines this with the biggest fuel tank in its class and the range is unparalleled.
The interiors of the Jaguar F-Pace have been appetising right from its start. And it continues to be so especially after the current redesign. It is plush and spotty at the same time. The seats are beautiful and keep you comfortable while holding you tight. The quilted upholstery exudes elegance and feels very luxurious. There is a generous amount of space for both passengers and for cargo.

As we have mentioned, the interiors are a strong suit of the F-Pace SVR. It can fit five passengers very comfortably and provides the highest amount of cargo space in its category by significant margin. If one looks at leg room the Jaguar is the most generous car of the bunch. The sporty design does leave one hoping for some more when it comes to headroom but still offers a good amount if you consider other cars in the category.
The features include but is not limited to:
The infotainment system is brand new and updated. It is very intuitive and is easy to use. It comes loaded with features that make your life very easy. It comes with an 11 speaker Meridian audio system that has excellent sound quality. The system has a 11.4 inch touchscreen that is crisp and beautiful to look at. Apart from this, there is a 12.3 inch driver information display. One also gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to have seamless integration with your smartphone. It does promise all of the features that any contemporary rival would. There is also a subscription of SiriusXM satellite radio and there is also a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot.
The notable features of the setup are:
The whole host of convenience features you can find in the Jaguar make it a luxury car as much as it is sporty. It is very much a treat to be in and has a lot to like about the cabin. The design is gorgeous and exudes elegance. The ergonomics of the car are excellent.
If you’re a fan of consistency you will not be disappointed. Because what Jaguar does so beautifully in the interiors, it continues in the exterior as well. The design is beautiful without being overly decorated or embellished. It has proportions of an SUV while retaining the elegance of a sedan and is a treat to look at. Even when it's next to its very gorgeous competitors, the Jaguar surely turns heads with its stunning. Its distinct features include:

Among its competition, the Jaguar is the lightest car of the lot by a huge margin. This helps it to achieve better fuel efficiency figures even when it has a much more powerful engine. The same is reflected in the driving dynamics of the car which is amazing considering it is an SUV. Despite all of its competitors being equally agile, Jaguar has the edge in terms of handling especially from the 2021 model due to the intensive steering and suspension recalibration. In terms of dimensions, it is the smallest in all respects but does not feel so. The wheelbase is pretty much on par with its competitors but the ground clearance is the highest among all. This gives the Jaguar the best off-road capabilities.
Unfortunately the Jaguar has not been tested by IIHS or the NHTSA for safety. Even though we expect this for commercial vehicles, it is odd that the car has not been tested for safety. The lack of any testing data does not mean that we cannot infer something about the safety of the SUV. We can do so by looking at safety features that are provided by Jaguar and having an understanding of them. They are as follows:-
Observing from the above one can conclude that safety has certainly not been ignored in the development of this car and has an adequate amount of safety features. The car is also structurally very strong and that aspect of safety is also covered. Hence when the car is tested for safety we expect it to return high scores.
The Alfa Romeo is an attractive option for someone who loves the elegance of an Italian SUV. It is also extremely capable when it comes to driving dynamics but loses out in the field of practicality. The engine is adequately powerful but the Jaguar feels more luxurious and plush on the inside. The Jaguar is way more dramatic due to its engine and powertrain and feels very refreshing to drive because of the current steering and suspension tweaks.
The Porsche has the good name of being the most reliable car of the lot. It was in fact, the company that invented the very category of performance SUVs and hence remains an excellent choice no matter which way you look at it. The engine is not the most powerful or the most dramatic and this is where the Jaguar has the trump cards.
The BMW X3 M is a very practical and reliable vehicle that has been well liked globally. But in terms of look, we believe it has begun to look rather shabby, especially next to the gorgeous Jaguar. It is also true that the BMW is very thirsty for fuel and hence will not be the best option for people who are conscious about running costs.
Even though it comes with a hefty price tag, the F-Pace SVR is a very attractive proposition. It provides a very luxurious as well as sporty driving experience. The build quality is very much excellent, and so are the materials used in the car. Jaguar is also on the track to rewrite woes about its maintenance issues. The fact that the car has a V8 engine also adds to its appeal heavily. We believe that if you have toyed with the idea of owning one, you definitely should.
