Overall Rating

The Q70 is all about comfort and luxury but it does have a brutally powerful V8 engine on offer. There is not much difference in power, look, and performance, than its older models but Infiniti has made some insane changes. The Infiniti Q70 has a standard variant the Q70 3.7 and a more powerful variant Q70 5.6 version. There is not much difference in looks and styling, even the price difference is not much. The Q70 5.6 features a 5.6L V8, which produces 420 bhp. It has the same 7-speed automatic transmission. Both the variants have a rear-wheel-drive drivetrain, while the all-wheel drive is optional.

2017 Infiniti Q70 Pricing and Features

7.8/10

The main difference between the 3.7and 5.6 Q70 is their power and features, other than that, everything is the same. The 5.6 features a better infotainment system and comfort levels than the 3.6. Unlike other brands, the Infiniti Q70 5.6 doesn't actually feature the standard features of the 3.6 version.

We Recommend

The Infiniti Q70 3.7 and 5.6 have their own specialties and they have their own flaws and a simple comparison won't be fair as well. The 3.7 and 5.6 have the same body and styling. The 3.7 is a well-balanced sedan and its luxury is top-notch. In case, you can put a little extra cash, go for the 5.7 because it's simply better than the 3.6 in every single aspect.

2017 Infiniti Q70 Engine and Performance

8.2/10

The Infiniti Q70 3.7 features a 3.7L V6 engine coupled with a 7-speed automatic transmission. The Q70’s 3.7L 330 hp powerhouse produces 270 lb.-ft. of torque. It has rear-wheel drive, but you can go for an optional all-wheel drive. For a 330 hp powerhouse, the torque offered is way too low, which affects its performance.

The Q70 is the most powerful car in the whole class, followed by Audi and BMW. Compared to the Q70, all its competitors feature way less powerful engines but have almost the same torque, which means that they are almost equal in performance. The worst torque output on the block is offered by BMW 530i of 258 lb-ft.

Acceleration

The Q70 features a 330 hp V6 and RWD drivetrain races from 0-60 mph in just 6.0 sec with a quarter-mile margin of 14.6 sec. Unlike other car manufacturers like BMW or Mercedes, Infiniti focuses their cars on one aspect, as they made the Q70 as luxurious as they could instead of focusing solely on performance or power output.

Moving on to its competitors, the BMW, Mercedes, and Audi also show similar acceleration performances. Tying up with Infiniti in the 0-60 mph is the BMW at 6 seconds. Rankings change in the quarter-mile as BMW gets past Infiniti and finishes the drag race in just 13.5 seconds.

Handling

The Infiniti Q70 manages to compete strongly in the acceleration department with the greats from the German masters. The Q70 features a 3-spoke multifunction power steering, and it has a front double wishbone and rear Multi-link suspension. Unlike other V6 or V8 cars, the Q70 doesn't has a noisy brash sounding exhaust system.

It is fun to drive the Q70 due to its smooth accelerations, precise control, and responsive steering, but the real fun is sitting in the back row and enjoying your champagne as you will hardly feel any vibration due to its effective suspension system, it is way stable. Thanks to its longer wheelbase and to the impressive sound isolation.

Braking

The 2017 Infiniti Q70 is a big sedan, so it does need some big brakes and insane braking power. But the Q70, despite being a big luxury sedan, only has a curb weight of 3,878 lbs, which actually makes it lighter compared to its body size. It features 12.6/12.1 inch four-wheel disc brakes at the front and back, respectively with an anti-lock braking system. The Q70 has a braking distance of 113 ft. for 60-0 MPH, which is satisfactory.

The Q70 also features electronic stability controls and traction controls for effective and safer braking. The BMW and Mercedes have better stopping distances due to their smaller and lighter body. Despite being the heaviest on the block, Infiniti manages to take less distance than Audi’s 117 feet to come to halt from 60 mph.

2017 Infiniti Q70 Fuel Economy

6.9/10

The Infiniti Q70 sedan is pretty fuel-efficient for a sedan featuring a 330hp powerhouse. It has an average mileage of 18/25 mpg in city/highway and combined mileage of 21 mpg. Well, unfortunately, the Q70 is the least fuel-efficient vehicle in the segment.

When compared with the competition, the 2017 Audi A6 leads the segment, followed by BMW 530i and Mercedes-Benz E300.This is mostly due to the lower power produced by these engines. If you are looking for a commuter, then the Q70 won’t be the best choice you can make.

2017 Infiniti Q70 Interior

7.7/10

The 2017 Infiniti Q70 sedan is a 4-door 5 seater sedan. It has spacious, classy, and luxurious interiors and a bit of an old-school infotainment system. The Q70 is all about comfort, and it features leather-trimmed bucket seats in the front with 8-way power adjustment, adjustable lumbar and multi-level heating, and ventilated rear seats with multi-level heating and center armrest (folding).

  • Apple CarPlay
  • AM/FM stereo

Cargo Volume

The Q70 Sedan has 14.9 cubic feet of cargo space. For a big sedan like this, the cargo space offered by it is a bit disappointing, but it is not surprising at all since it is a luxury sedan. The cargo space cannot be increased as it features non-folding rear seats.

2017 Infiniti Q70 Exterior

7.6/10

The Q70 is a big sedan. It has a classy, simple looking aerodynamic body complimented with chrome. The standard look or body design of the Q70 is pretty, the same as its older 2015 model, but the wheelbase has been increased to 114.2-inch for improved stability. Few slight changes have been made to the exteriors as well.

2017 Infiniti Q70 Competition

7.9/10

Audi A6 Premium vs Infiniti Q70

The Audi A6 Premium is a $47,600 luxury sedan. It features a less powerful 252 hp engine with 7-speed automatic transmission. The Audi A6 is less powerful than Q70 but offers the same performance and has no flaws compared to the Q70. It has the almost same dimension as the Q70 and offers best-in-class fuel efficiency. The only reason the Q70 is costlier than the Audi A6 is the extra power, apart from that, the A6 stands on the same ground as the Q70.

BMW 530i vs Infiniti Q70

The BMW 530i has the best in class performance and is more fuel-efficient and space-efficient than the Q70. This $51,200 sedan features a 248hp powerhouse coupled with 8-speed automatic transmission and produces 258 lb.-ft. of torque. It outclasses the Q70 in performance and efficiency but lacks a little interior spacing.

Infiniti Q70 vs Mercedes-Benz E300 Sport

If fuel efficiency is your thing, then Mercedes is the best option you can go for, as it has better mileage than the Q70. But if you are not worried about the MPG and would like the exotic experience and the extra power on offer, then the Infiniti Q70 is the car you should go with. The Q70 has better acceleration figures, but the Mercedes outperforms it in braking.

2017 Infiniti Q70 Final Verdict

Despite its impressive power figures, the Q70 is still a luxury sedan. The 5.6 variant of Q70 is remarkable as well. For the performance enthusiast, Infiniti has also offered a sports package. The Q70 is less fuel-efficient, has slow acceleration, has less interior storage space, and has some minor flaws. But there is no denying that it is the most luxurious and the safest vehicle you can get. You might go for the Mercedes or BMW or Audi, but unlike Infiniti, they are more performance-focused cars. Either for family or professional use, the Q70 is a perfect choice at this range.
