The 2021 Hyundai Kona is simply one of the best sub-compact SUVs in the segment. Just like any other Hyundai, the Kona’s cabin is well finished and neat. This subcompact SUV comes equipped with good quality leather upholstery and just like any other Hyundai, it’s filled with tech features. Comfort features like automatic air conditioning and an advanced infotainment system with a wide 8-inch touchscreen display with navigation features integrated with smartphone connectivity make the Kona feels a notch above its category.

With all these positives and new features, the 2021 Hyundai Kona fights against some serious rivals like Honda HR-V, Nissan Kicks, and Mazda CX-3. The price for this sub-compact SUV starts from $20,400 to $29,450. The 2021 Kona provides minimal blind spots and a commanding posture for driving. The detailed report on the interior features and infotainments are explained in this article, read the full article to know what are the tech features that this Hyundai packs under its roof.

2021 Hyundai Kona Interior: Seating, Passenger Comfort, Vs. Rivals

The Kona offers plush seats in its lineup. The Kona has 8-way power adjusted driver seats for the top trims. Lower trims get cloth seats with heated seats from the SEL trim. From the Limited trim onwards Kona gets heated leather seats as standard. There is a ‘Night Edition’ trim which gets an all-black interior layout. Like its 2020 avatar, the 2021 Hyundai Kona has good bolstering and support for the front seats. There are choices for black as well as grey color for the interior. The lumbar support can be adjusted finely via an electronic switch. The addition of an electric sunroof and large glasshouse make the cabin feel airy.

Automatic climate control and comfy interiors make the Kona a comfortable place for long journeys. The legroom of the rear seats is compromised if the driver is tall. The seats are heated which makes it comfy for cold weather conditions. The front seats give a good view of the road ahead and keep the driver comfortable. The leather steering wheel and armrest make the SUV a comfy place to be. The Kona, though being an SUV the ingress and egress are easy for even older people.

For a 5-seater sub-compact SUV, the Hyundai Kona offers good interior space but not as much as the Nissan Kicks offering great interior space and other rivals like Mazda CX-3 also offer good interior space with similar good interior space comes the Honda HR-V. But the Hyundai Kona has a disadvantage that the legroom is crumbled and the adults would find it tighter than the other rivals.

The rear seats are tight for tall adults. For a person above 6 feet, the rear seats will be a squeeze but the rear seats can recline for added comfort. The rear seats also come with a handrest that has integrated cup holders. Overall it is a great place to be with plenty of glass-room and comfort features. The leather-wrapped steering wheel and comfy upholstery make an overall plush feel for the sub-compact SUV. Some of the interesting interior features are listed below:

  • 8-Way power-adjustable Driver Seat
  • Auto-dimming rearview mirror with Homelink
  • Tilt-and-Telescopic adjustable steering wheel
  • Leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob
  • Proximity key entry with push-button start
  • One-touch up/down power windows
  • 60/40 split-folding rear seats

2021 Hyundai Kona: Cargo Capacity And Interior Storage Space

The boot behind the rear seats opens up 19.2 cubic feet of cargo space. The load floor is adjustable with 60/40 split seats that make through-loading easy. Folding the rear seats can carry more cargo up to 45.8 cu. ft. The Kona’s boot also has in-floor storage for keeping smaller items. The boot is also practical with a low loading lip compared to its rivals. The boot is of a square shape which is easy for packing more luggage like suitcases and boxes. The boot also has tethering points which double as hooks for hanging grocery items as well.

There are a large number of cubby spaces to keep your belongings like mobile phones or wallets inside the cabin. The Kona also has big bottle holders and cup holders for passengers up front as well as at the rear. The boot has a square shape which makes it easy to pack more stuff, but like any typical subcompact SUV, the boot lip is a bit higher making it hard to load heavy luggage. The roof rails of the Kona have a capacity of about 175 pounds. There is also a small light that can help you load or unload your things in the dark.

The cargo space is not as large as the Nissan Kicks, but it is decent and the lower loading lip makes it easy to load and unload stuff. There are Isofix anchor points for the rear seats and having an adult between two child seats would be a tight squeeze. The rear seats can comfortably mount front-facing child seats but a rear-facing child seat would be a tight fit.

2021 Hyundai Kona: Infotainment System, Instrument Cluster, And Connectivity Features

As in other Hyundai products, it combines a touchscreen, plenty of physical shortcut buttons, and importantly, physical volume and tuning knobs. - Autoblog.com

The Kona’s infotainment comes packed with features like android auto, apple car play onboard navigation and the list goes on. The 8-inch touchscreen infotainment is slick to use as a modern tablet. The infotainment is coupled with a High-End Infinity audio system with Clari-Fi music restoration technology that can restore the quality of the audio played.

The addition of a wireless phone charger makes it easier to charge your mobile phones on the go.  The cabin also has USB ports at the front as well as at the rear for the modern-day. Onboard navigation is also included which can be connected through the built-in application or via Android Auto/Apple Carplay.

2021 Hyundai Kona SUV wireless charging tech

The directions along with vehicle information like speed can be fed to the multi informational Heads-Up display which adds to the ease of driving. The transparent pop-up glass panel heads-up display can show features like Speed, navigation, Smart Cruise Control, and safety info.

Additional interior features of the 2021 Hyundai Kona

The Hyundai Kona gets a part digital and part analog instrument cluster. Some infotainment controls and the instrument cluster control can be done via the steering-mounted buttons. The car gets a tunable radio as well.

  • The 8-inch touchscreen infotainment display
  • Heads-up Display
  • SiriusXM/HD radio
  • Apple Car Play, Android Auto
  • Wireless device charging(Qi-charging)
  • USB, Aux, Bluetooth connectivity
  • 2” MID and 8” touchscreen with navigation

Is the Hyundai Kona Worth it?

The 2021 Hyundai Kona has an upscale cabin compared to its key rivals. Hyundai has quietly offered one of the most intuitive infotainment packages in the business Kona only falters in terms of utility when compared directly to class leaders. The trunk is large and has usable space.

Hyundai did a good job with the available materials and the cabin plastics feel well-made and well-organized. The cabin feels premium and plush with the infotainment system and dashboard controls being easy to use and straightforward. With good space and features, the Kona would be an absolute pleasure to drive along for road trips with family and friends.

My new awesome commuter.

Pros - Great visbility, right size, comfortable, easy to manuever

Cons - No cons as of now.

Bets pick. Got myself a fully loaded one for under 28 grand. My husband was not very satisfied with the purchse, but I adore it. Delna at Norm Reeves Hyundai was one of my classmates and she was the one who hooked me up with this car; Gave me around $750 cashback and a couple of free accessories too. I have been taking this car to work for quite some time now and it feels better any every way possible than my previous car, a 2015 Sentra. Thaks to Delna I could get a nice offer on my new Kona. really appreciate all her efforts to make things easy for.

Well rounded vehicle

Pros - Efficient, interior, driving dynamics

Cons - Sound system, dash

Easy to work with Easy to work on this car. Handles very well and is a pleasure to drive, especially on winding roads. City mpg is slightly disappointing given the size of the car but the performance value is there. I've been getting 26-27 mpg average, so not bad at all Potamkin Hyundai of New York is a stellar organization. I highly recommend them to anyone in the market for a new car.

A Capable Compact Subaru!

Pros - "Upscale cabin Easy-to-use infotainment system Energetic turbocharged engine available"

Cons - "Lacks advanced smartphone connectivity features Central touch screen controls most functions and can be distracting"

The luxuarious one Hyundai Kona Electric Ultimate in 2021. This is a truly remarkable car. The range of 258 miles is not an underestimate. The Ultimate has a lot of cool features. The heads-up show is very useful. The cruise control sets the speed and distance from the vehicle ahead of you automatically. Jodi and Kevin were great through the whole process. They took care of everything by email and text, and then after a three hour drive they got me out the door in my new car in less than an hour.

Supercar 2021

a premium interior, solid driving feel, loads of power, precise steering; what else does one need from a car. Oh and one more , A "launch" feature propels the car forward as quickly as possible from a standstill.
