What do we recommend?

The Japanese are onto something interesting with the 2020 Civic. Introspecting through its success all through these years, the new Civic is spacious in some trim levels and hosts a powerful mill under the hood. Out of 4 different trim levels available, we recommend you to get the 2020 Civic Sport 2dr Coupe. Not only does it come with a manual transmission which is fun to use but also hosts a more powerful engine performance and power delivery as an option. On top of this, the 2020 Honda Civic sports highlights feature far and wide all through its range of vehicles.

2020 Honda Civic Coupe Engine and Performance

8.5/10

Powered by a 2-liter inline-4 engine that produces 158 hp (horsepower) at 6500 rpm and produces total torque of 138 lbs-ft at 4200 rpm. A sequential fuel system powers the 2020 Civic Coupe mill through a manual 6-speed transmission or an optional 2 speed CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission.

Wrapped under the hood, the inline-4 provides enough thrust to outshine the 2020 Civic with road-legal features and to flip wheelies on the king's cross circle. OH OH! Not really! But, its enough power to perform zippy twist and turns while the well-planted appeal of the coupe takes your breath away.

The 2020 Civic Coupe mill through a manual 6-speed transmission

For the times when you are feeling a bit more ‘Michel Schumacher’, a couple of few thousand bucks can fetch you a peppier turbocharged engine. A fair mix of good design coupled with brilliant drivability which is both plush and sporty, the 2020 Civic Coupe outshines the race.

Facing the competition heat is the 2020 Subaru BRZ Coupe. Powered by 2 flat engines sitting on top of each other making an H4 mill, the Subaru BRZ’s boxer engine makes 205 horsepower and produces a maximum torque of 156 lbs./ft.

On the other hand, is a Toyota makes 2020 86 Coupe which is based on the same body as of the 2020 BRZ. Powered by the same engine, the H4 2 liter powerhouse makes 205 hp and 156 lbs./ft.

How fast is the Honda Civic Coupe?

Enough to make your head punch the headrests on the bucket seats but not enough to host a launch control, the 2020 Civic is a schoolboy trying to bunk the class in his school dress. Ready to go zip-zap-zoom with the touch of the throttle, the acceleration of the Civic release a lot on its turbocharged capabilities.

The 2020 Honda Civic Coupe goes 0 to 60 mph (miles per hour) in 7.2 seconds

The 2020 Honda Civic Coupe goes 0 to 60 mph (miles per hour) in 7.2 seconds. It has a quarter-mile speed of about 15.3 seconds. Nimble enough to highlight its character, not by eyes but sound, the 2020 Civic Coupe is both lightweight and capable.

Looks like Subaru has done a pretty darn good job in keeping its H4 engine productive enough to churn out great speed digits. 0 to 60 in 6.2 seconds is what Subaru claims for the BRZ. Hosting the same engine and similar body arms, the 2020 Toyota 86 runs parallel to the BRZ.

How does the Honda Civic Coupe ride and handle?

If ride and handling are considered to be 2 different phenomenons in the car world, the 2020 Civic Honda is good at both. It is a driver’s car for sure but what it shines in is ride capabilities as well. If the first turn of your drive explains its nimbleness, the second for sure will treat you with zippy references of a structurally amaze machine. Enough body roll restraints keep the dance away while its Firestone FT140 all-season tires are not capable enough to keep the adrenaline pumping.

Like the ninjas on two ends of a pole, the 2020 Civic balances its act with both comfortability and sports ability. Another ___ability word the Civic adheres to is affordability. $23,500 is fair enough for a car of this capability.

OH DAMN! Enough with the ___ability blabber.

What about the Braking performance?

Brake shoes hugging the tires are not as large as those of competition. A good over 1-inch difference in brake sizes keeps the 2020 Honda Civic on the 3rd podium. Being heavier than its competition, the braking on the Civic is not much of a charming feature.

The Big and Chunky Brakes of the 2020 Honda Civic

Although well versed with its duties, the braking on this machine is good enough to do its job.

2020 Honda Civic Coupe Fuel Economy

9.0/10

Tremendous is the ‘king word’, explaining the fuel economy of this coupe. The 2020 Civic coupe runs 30 miles per gallon in the city traffic while it runs for 38 miles per gallon on the motorway. The coupe has a combined fuel economy of 33 miles per gallon.

Thankful enough to its efficient inline engine, it's well-balanced chassis and brilliant marriage between the mill and the transmission makes the 2020 Civic one of the most fuel-efficient coupe in the segment. Witnessing this phenomenon here are the two competitors. Both being the children of the same mother, produce identical fuel specs while they miss by a lot of digits when compared with the 2020 Civic.

2020 Honda Civic Coupe Interior

9.0/10

Roomy and practical enough to call it your second home, the interiors of the 2020 Honda Civic are designed keeping the everyday user in mind. Typical Japanese in its aura, the coupe entices you every morning to get in the bucket seats and push the pedals hard enough to kill your mundane blues. Clearly, the rear seats of the coupe are useless if you are above the average height.

The Honda Civic coupe entices you every morning to get in the bucket seats

Too American, isn't it?

Adhering to its relevance to the American car folks, the Civic coupe comes with more than enough space all around the cabin to keep your belongings. It features all basic tech specs of the segment while referencing the iconic Honda styling we all are used to.

But guess what, you can use this space to keep your grocery or maybe your emotional baggage when driving alone on a summer evening through the interstate motorway.

How comfortable are the Seats?

5 at a time is what Honda claims this coupe can carry. People we mean. But that's irrelevant for the 2020 Civic Coupe. With a practically non-existent rear seat, all you are left with are two really comfortable bucket seats in the front and a lot of ‘storage’ space. Comfort is brilliant for both the driver and the co-driver. 8-way adjustable seats keep the user engaged in the experience while providing more than enough legroom and headroom.

Speaking of comfort, the 2020 Civic stands tall among its competitors. Lacking a few inches in all its dimensions, the Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86 are less of space and more of handling. Fixing yourself in the cabin could be a challenge but enough tech all around keeps it relevant. The interior features of the 2020 Honda Civic coupe include:

What features to expect on the inside?

  • Manual driver and passenger adjustment
  • Carpet front and rear floor mats
  • Front center armrest
  • Rear bench seat
  • Bucket front seats
  • Sport pedals
  • Power windows
  • Day-night rearview mirror
  • Wind deflector

How good is the Infotainment System?

The infotainment features of the 2020 Civic Coupe include:

2020 Honda Civic Coupe Touchscreen Display
  • Steering-wheel mounted audio controls
  • 1 1st row LCD monitor
  • Speed sensitive volume
  • Wireless phone connectivity

What about the Cargo capacity?

Best in class is a small term here. Providing a tremendous 12.1 cubic feet of space in the rear deck, the 2020 Civic is a practical coupe in all its forms. Although not designed to be practical, it mostly built for style but boot space is one area where it shines.

8.4/10

Styling designed to fall in love with, this Japanese machine is ‘Yin and Yang’ in all its glory. Long doors on either end of the coupe act as the center point for the side profile of the vehicle. These large doors allow easy access to the rear seat by pulling down the front ones. Two LED DRLs introduce the coupe to a newbie with much excitement and smiles. Iconic Honda grille with black accents all around the air intakes builds the front fascia of the coupe. Turn indicators on the fenders are another distinct feature Honda uses in most of its vehicles. A toughed crease moves from the A-pillar to the B-pillar giving a character to the machine.

2020 honda civic coupe Side view

What defines the 2020 Civic Coupe in all it's frantic is the well-designed, almost surreal, rear tail lamps. Joining hands with the lip spoiler, these tail lamps are followed by rear turn indicators and reverse lamps. Heated rearview mirrors keep the safety intact in all weather conditions.

2020 Honda Civic Coupe Competition

Honda Civic Coupe VS Subaru BRZ

Competing coupes is an interesting sight to behold. Especially when its two Japanese in the ring. Priced almost $5 thousand costlier than the Civic Coupe, the Subaru BRZ makes more power and torque figures. It also hosts a few bits of features that are missing from the Honda makes. Where Honda picks a star is in its performance capabilities, storage space, and its turbocharged engine. The Honda Civic is not only comfortable but also wins the race here in terms of better legroom and headroom.

2020 Subaru BRZ

Honda Civic Coupe VS Toyota 86

Another contender in the ring is the 2020 Toyota 86. Based on exactly the same count and figures as the Subaru BRZ, the 86 gives Civic damages equal to that of the BRZ. If you are in the market for an under 25 thousand dollar plush coupe with enough power figures to outrun german sedans in the segment, go for the BRZ or Toyota 86. If you are looking for a coupe with enough legroom and comfort, go for the 2020 Civic coupe.

2020 Toyota 86

2020 Honda Civic Coupe Final Verdict

Agree or not, the Japanese have done a tremendous job in making Civic a relevant car for most of its user base. Available in more than one body styles such as coupe, sedan, and hatchback, the 2020 Honda Civic is a winner all the way. Brilliant drive dynamics, enough room in the cabin and amazing pricing make this coupe worth its hype.

Handles well in city

Pros - Traffic friendly, easy to handle, apple car play

Cons - Less gas mileage, CVT, body roll when aggressively handled

Overall Review

8 /10 Overall Rating

Driving in city- great and handles easy around the corner in low/medium speed manuvers. Visibility also happens to be great and one can barely miss any detail on all four sides while driving. Driving on interstates- Handling turns a little less precise and the body roll if taken to twisties is felt right when it hits a corner at as low as 50 mph.

HONDA CIVIC SEDAN has different driving modes

Eco mode helps in less fuel consumption and sport mode comes handy, well you know for what. Albeit the difference is not huge and doesn't get the lap times down by a minute or something but still felt by the foot tap. It responds with the tap in sports mode while in Eco, things take a more sophisticated approach.

Pretty darn good

Having a Turbo is fun and it seems Honda somehow tuned it up a notch. There is no better way to put it but Civic is a great drive. I know it's hard to believe but it is the truth. It is fast. The daily commuter has evolved and the new version is somewhat sporty and aggressive.
