In the year 2001, the Honda Accord first made its debut, and in the year 2014, the Accord hybrid was introduced, and it has been a standard for hybrid cars since then. From featuring a V6 to a 4-cylinder electric with 2 motors, it has gone through several stages of development. The 2017 Honda Accord hybrid is all about improvements.

Honda claims that the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid is the most powerful and fuel-efficient midsize hybrid sedan in the whole car market as it is totally redesigned and looks sportier, stylish, and timeless. The new Accord has better fuel efficiency, improved engine performance, enhanced cargo space, upgraded infotainment system, and high-end safety features with some minor interior design changes.

The value-for money Honda sedan!

Pros - Well-equipped interior. Peppy powertrain. Value-for-money.

Cons - Average cabin materials quality. Low seating in the back.

Great value sedan for my money! I knew I can never go wrong with a Honda. The Accord was no exception to it. An affordable monthly payment $230 after $3k sign-in was a sweet deal for this well-equipped sedan. Including both the annual insurance and maintenance cost, the figure isn't more than $1200. With so much standard equipment like basic driving aids safety equipment and a to-spec infotainment system I certainly feel happy to own one. The only one uncomfortable bit about the car is the lowly rear seats which makes it really difficult to get out of the car! I really loved the ales team here. Ray in finance helped me work out an amazing 1.9% APR deal. Quite the place if you're planning on buying a new Honda.

All rounder a superb vehicle.

Pros - Top of the class fuel economy, Dynamic driving experience, Quiet cabin

Cons - Blur rear view camera

Its a nice vehicle and I will like to buy it. The 2 motor hybrid system with e-CVT makes the drive exceptional, fluid and smooth. Power is substantial with respect to the cars in this segment. The suspension is active and steering is responsive. The active grille shutters with a wider grille gives you enhanced fuel economy. The highlight features must include Driver's seat memory, one touch power sunroof and wireless phone charging system. The cabin is roomy and colors used soothe the eyesight. Leather trimmed interior and blend of quality materials is used to decorate the cabin with a brand look. Heated front leather seats ensure comfort. Infotainment features are advanced and easy to use. Inspite of having a battery, the trunk space is considerably huge due to smart design. You will definitly fall in love with one thing, 450-Watt Premium Audio System with 10 Speakers with an inclusion of subwoofer.Due to the e-CVT systems, I cannot fully trust the vehicle in terms of reliability. We have been to many dealers but stopped here finally because they have a huge inventory and they can deliver the car immediately

We recommend

The Honda Accord Hybrid is a pretty efficient sedan in itself, it comes standard with all those features you expect from a family sedan. The variants it offers have some additional features but it doesn't really affect its power or performance or safety, so go for it if you feel like, otherwise the base model is good enough to fulfill a family sedan requirements.

2017 Honda Accord hybrid Sedan Engine and Performance

8.6/10

The 2017 Accord hybrid features an enhanced 2.0L 4clinder engine paired with a CVT automatic transmission and forward-wheel drivetrain. The hybrid powertrain produces 212 horsepower and 129 lb-ft of torque, which is plenty for a family sedan but still needs improvement in terms of torque output considering the power it packs and its competitors as well. Also, there is no AWD available even as an option throughout the lineup, probably to save the power losses through the drivetrain.

The Accord Hybrid features the most powerful engine and the highest price tag in the whole class but suffers in torque production which really affects its overall performance. The Toyota Camry Hybrid is the second most powerful hybrid in the class and has some nice torque production. The Chevrolet Malibu has the least power and torque output, while the Ford Fusion is the most affordable car here.

What is the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid's 0-60 mph Acceleration Performance?

The Honda Accord Hybrid races from 0-60 mph in 7.8 seconds and hits the quarter-mile margin in 16.2 seconds @ 88.8 mph, which is the quickest again in the segment. The Hybrid system switches automatically between engine and motors and has 3 operating modes, 0-30 mph on only electric, only engine at higher speeds.

The Accord Hybrid is the most powerful, is the best in the class, and it puts quite a show. The Ford Fusion with only 188 hp powerhouse lags at the back of the segment. The Accord is surprisingly followed by the Chevrolet Malibu, while the Camry Hybrid is marginally slower than the Malibu hybrid.

Has the Ride and Handling of the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid improved?

The Honda Accord Hybrid features an Electric power steering and tilt-telescopic steering wheel. It has four wheels independent suspension with a front and rear stabilizing bar. All these specs promise easier handling, smooth steering, and a hassle-free journey. It also comes standard with adaptive cruise control, traction control, and stability control to stay safe and easy going.

As for the handling, Accord Hybrid handles pretty well for a family sedan, stays stable at high speed, and cuts corners smoothly. But in case you are expecting that it goes wild with a push of a button or provides insane acceleration or runs like a horse on a race track, you might reconsider your choice.

What is the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid's Braking Performance?

The Accord Hybrid features smaller wheels for better fuel efficiency, and it also features a smaller 11.5-inch front and 11.1-inch rear ventilated disc brakes with the 4-wheel anti-lock braking system. It takes about 123 ft to get to a standstill from 60-0 mph. Well, for a 3,483 lbs. vehicle, it is not bad but not too good as well. Features like emergency braking assist and stability control are also included for safety.

When comparing the curb weight, Toyota Camry Hybrid is the heaviest on the table.

2017 Honda Accord hybrid Sedan Fuel Economy

8.1/10

The Accord Hybrid offers the best fuel economy that any mid-size sedan or any hybrid sedan can offer. Its fuel efficiency is what makes it one of the most affordable, reliable, and efficient family sedans. The Honda Accord has an average mileage of 49 mpg in the city and 47 mpg out on the highways, with a combined fuel economy rated at 48 mpg by the EPA. Its 3 operating modes to handle both engine and motors increases its efficiency. The 2017 model has a smaller 1.3-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack mounted in the trunk, which also increases its trunk volume.

After the Accord, the Chevrolet Malibu hybrid offers some sick fuel efficiency as well, which is marginally lower than the Honda. Surprisingly enough, the Toyota Camry hybrid is the least efficient but features the largest fuel tank, which aids in providing one of the longest driving ranges.

2017 Honda Accord hybrid Sedan Interior

7.4/10

The Accord Hybrid is a 4-door 5 seater sedan, and it has ridiculously roomy interiors. Honda kept the front seats a little lower which makes it comfortable for long rides while the rear seats have a lot of leg and headroom. It does have a foldable center armrest, but the rear seats are fixed. As for the interior design and luxury, it has high-quality interior seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel.

It comes standard with an 8-way power driver seat with lumbar support and 4-way passenger seats. The steering wheel features media, Bluetooth, and cruise controls. It has a massive gauge cluster, and the driver's side door has a mounted lock and window mirror controls for easy access. Overall it has a very well laid out and futuristic-looking interior.

The Accord hybrid has a big list of optional features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, HD radio, navigation, wireless charging, Wi-Fi hotspot, touch-screen display, HUD, and many more. Honda has upgraded their infotainment system to the previous model, but it still lacks in some aspects. How much is the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid’s Cargo capacity?

The Honda Accord Hybrid features 13.7 cubic-feet of cargo space, which is 1 cubic-foot more than the previous model due to its slimmer smaller battery pack. The Honda Accord is totally redesigned as it looks sportier, muscular, and aerodynamic. The daytime LED lights and the LED fog lights with chrome finished grille makes it a more handsome looking car. In terms of dimension, it is the same as its previous model, just some detailing and a little curvier. The Accord hybrid is 194.1 inches long and 72.8 inches wide with a body height of 57.5 inch that turns out to be a sleek low profile car with a spacious interior. It has a 5.8-inch ground clearance not too low nor too high. The 109.3-inch wheelbase provides stability to the car.

2017 Honda Accord hybrid Sedan Competition

9.4/10

2017 Honda Accord Hybrid vs Toyota Camry Hybrid

The Toyota Camry Hybrid is a $26,790 sedan, featuring a 200hp engine with a CVT transmission. It is a cheaper, less powerful vehicle than the Accord, but outruns it in terms of acceleration. The Toyota is pretty much the same in terms of dimension and has almost the same cargo volume. The only point Honda overpowers it is in terms of fuel efficiency and interior spacing. In this competition, Toyota has made its mark and goes neck to neck with the Honda Camry Hybrid, which makes it hard to choose the dominator.

2017 Honda Accord Hybrid vs Ford Fusion Hybrid S

The Ford Fusion Hybrid S is one of the oldest rivals of the Honda Accord Hybrid. The Accord is powerful, more fuel-efficient, but the Fusion offers better performance. In terms of exterior and interior dimensions, Honda and Ford are pretty much the same. The Ford Fusion has a price tag of $25,675 and features a 188 hp engine paired with automatic transmission. In between the Accord and Fusion, there is a common difference of features and luxury both cars offer as Fusion is more performance-oriented whereas Accord is more of a luxury sedan.

2017 Honda Accord Hybrid vs Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid

The homegrown Chevy Malibu hybrid offers just about everything that the Honda Accord hybrid offers and also better in some places while also being more affordable to buy. Though it has the lowest power and torque output, it is only marginally slower in terms of acceleration than the Accord. The fuel economy too is only marginally lower. while the interior space is superior in the Chevy, thanks to the more spacious rear seats. Amongst the two, the Honda Accord hybrid is a better and a more rounded offering.

2017 Honda Accord hybrid Sedan Final Verdict

The 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid lives up to the company's claims. It fulfills all the requirements needed to be a family sedan. The Accord is one of those vehicles that are ideal for daily use, long drives, professional use, as well as family trips. Its fuel efficiency, reliability, low cost of ownership, and comfy spacious interiors gives it a huge advantage. It has some flaws, the interior lacks quality, the infotainment system needs a little perfection, and the engine should be a bit more responsive. As for the competition, the Honda Accord has a lot of aspects where it outshines its competitors. The versatility, reliability, and functionality of this car are what makes it superior to others.
