Talking of performance, the Canyon AT4 won't have a lot of difference from the standard Canyon models in terms of the 0-60 timings but it does get a better towing capacity. The 2021 GMC Canyon AT4 Crew Cab rivals the likes of the Chevy Colorado Z71, Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road, and the Nissan Frontier Pro-4X.

The 2021 GMC Canyon AT4 Crew Cab is just available in that one single trim, which is the All-Terrain 4WD or AT4. However, you do get the option of a cloth pack or a leather pack that can be opted in both Short Box and Long Box versions. Both the trims come powered by the same 3.6-liter V6 motor that generates over 300 hp.

Base the base trim, as the name suggests, receives the least number of features as standard. The 308 HP 3.6L V6 gets the heavy job done, but the comfort inside the Cabin isn’t too great. The interior lacks personality and feels rugged and cheap. The cloth upholstery does get cold whilst winters but feels like a blessing in disguise in the summers, where the optional leather upholstery can be “a pain in the butt" quite literally.

2021 GMC Canyon AT4 Crew Cab Buying Advice

The 2021 GMC Canyon AT4 Crew Cab is a solid deal for the price it comes in. The heavy payload carrying capability and the immense practicality of the car cannot go wrong. We would suggest you going for the Leather version of the AT4 as it blends in a bit of luxury alongside the sheer practicality in the package that GMC already offers.

2021 GMC Canyon AT4 Crew Cab Engine and Performance

6.0/10

"Built for capability more than speed, the GMC Canyon can be as efficient as it can be powerful" - The Car Connection

The 2021 GMC Canyon AT4 Crew Cab receives a powerful 3.6L V6 engine that is capable of putting out a massive 308 HP at 275 lb-ft of torque. The engine gives powerful feedback and can carry a heavy payload of up to 1300lbs at the back. The engine is mated with a 6-speed manual transmission, which makes this truck fun to drive around.

2021 GMC Canyon AT4 Crew Cab engine

The higher ground clearance of the 2021 GMC Canyon AT4 Crew Cab opens ways to a tad bit of off-roading capabilities. The car holds steady on the curves and gives a powerful drive to the person behind the wheel. The car receives a standard 4 wheel drive which can tackle all the small irregularities of the turf with ease. However, the strongest rival, the Chevrolet Colorado seems to be neck to neck to the GMC and offers the same amount of power under the hood.

Jumping straight to the numbers, the 2021 GMC Canyon AT4 Crew Cab touches the 60 mph mark in 9 seconds and crosses the quarter-mile distance in 17.1 seconds. The car sure does not move in a jiffy, but does the job it is required to do. The truck receives a 4 wheel disc brake system with a 12.2-inch rotor in the front and a 12.4-inch rotor at the back.

The disc brakes are backed up by the ABS and the electronic brake force distribution which brings the speeding car to a halt under 121 ft. The 2021 GMC Canyon AT4 Crew Cab is the least agile amongst the bunch except the Tacoma. The Frontier seems to be the fastest in the competition. Speaking of braking performance, the GMC Canyon does a fine job of leaving everyone behind.

2021 GMC Canyon AT4 Crew Cab Fuel Economy

4.0/10

"The EPA estimates the 2021 Canyon with the gas-powered four-cylinder will earn up to 19 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway"- Caranddriver

The 2021 GMC Canyon AT4 Crew Cab, despite having the heavy build and all-wheel drive, gives a wonderful fuel economy on the road. The 2021 GMC Canyon AT4 Crew Cab gives an average mpg of 20 in the suburbs, 26 on the highway, and 22 combined.

2021 GMC Canyon AT4 Crew Cab instrument cluster

These numbers speak for themselves and are impressive as is. Better fuel efficiency makes this car even more economic than it already is. Carrying load around all day does not affect the efficiency at all and the truck is capable of pulling a “truckload” of stuff around all day every day.

The functional interior clads itself in black and silver accent pieces, while cloth seats and carpeted floor mats provide some simplicity- The Car Connection

The interiors of the 2021 GMC Canyon Crew Cab seem inspired by the standard model which is a carry forward from the 2020 year model and yet feels rightly ergonomic and premium in its ways. the higher up you are in the trim level, the better the interiors get. The leather upholstery and the premium comfort features are optional.

2021 GMC Canyon AT4 Crew Rear seats

The Cabin is fairly spacious and can comfortably seat 4 people inside. The rear bench does feel a little cramped and can be uncomfortable for long drives. The car gets a manual climate control on the base model and a fairly upscale infotainment system as well. The seats are 10-way power-adjustable for better comfort during the drive. the Cabin is designed, keeping ergonomics in mind and the essential controls and the instrument panel is [proximal to the driver to avoid distractions.

Yes. It’s timeless in the way of a work boot, and its square lines prove that even a work boot can look good- The Car Connection

The 2021 GMC Canyon AT4 Crew Cab receives a very bold and muscular look from the front. The meshed front grille design with the company’s logo on it looks really good and premium. The side profile is boxy, like regular pickup trucks and the trunk is wide and spacious. The LED headlights and tail lamps add to the aesthetics and light up the road quite well at night.

2021 GMC Canyon AT4 Crew Cab Front view

The hood has a bulging rectangular piece that makes the car look even more aggressive. The 18-inch wheels and the lifted chassis create off-roading possibilities for the truck as well. The chrome linings on the grille and the door panels look quite premium and uplift the looks of the car. The orange toe hooks in the front pop up the front fascia and adds a little color to the face of this truck.
