2021 Genesis G90 Buying Advice

The Genesis G90 is a good choice if one is into buying a luxury brand, we would recommend you the Ultimate trim as it has a more powerful engine and adds many creature comforts to the car, it packs features including heated seats, top-rated infotainment, and all safety features. If the car is well maintained and the seller is offering the car at a good and decent price then there is no doubt in buying the G90 as it is one of the most practical luxury sedan of the segment, however its one’s choice to buy a used car and also the 2021 model of the genesis G90 will carry same powertrain and design as of the 2020 model so rather than waiting for the 2021 one can also go for the 2020 model.

2021 Genesis G90 Engine and Performance

8.5/10

"Although the G90 doesn't accelerate as rapidly as its competitors, neither the V-6 nor the V-8 engine will leave you wanting more power." - Car and Driver

The base trim of the G90 is powered by a turbocharged 3.3-liter V6 setup which churns out 356 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of torque but it feels faster than the larger V8, all the credits to its powerful low to mid-range torque band. The old-school 5.0-liter V8 engine produces a healthy 420 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque; it has a creamy-like power delivery but is not as responsive as the 3.3-liter V6. Both of these models get an 8-speed automatic transmission, which is smooth in the towns and responsive enough when driving aggressively.

2021 Genesis G90 Sedan Engine

However, the genesis G90 doesn’t accelerate as fast as the competition, neither the V6 nor the V8 powertrain. It rides as smoothly on rough roads as butter slides smoothly on a hot pan, also its light steering plays a major role in making it glide. Going for the V8 powertrain will provide you with more opulence, butter-like power delivery. Coming to the power figures here the Lexus tops the list producing maximum power of 416 horsepower and it also leads in terms of torque, producing a maximum torque of 442 lb-ft.

The 2021 Genesis G90 which has got the naturally aspirated V8 engine is no doubt quicker but the V6 offers more torque at low revs, resulting in reaching the 0 to 60 mph mark in 5.4 seconds. The 8-speed automatic transmission sits up perfectly with both the powertrains and delivers smooth power to the rear wheels or all wheels, depending upon the specific drivetrain option you choose. The 2021 Genesis G90 can reach a top speed of 155 mph which is significantly more than the competition. The Lexus LS 500 is the fastest from 0 to 60 in just 5.6 seconds followed by the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

2021 Genesis G90 Sedan Accelerate 0-60 MPH in 5.4 Sec

The Genesis G90 is guarded by ventilated discs accompanied by ABS and Automatic emergency braking, the pedal is not that firm but it does the work pretty good. The vehicle takes 117 ft to stop from 60 mph to 0 mph. Genesis G90 has reached the maximum top speed amongst its competition, however, in terms of 0-60 mph figures the car lacks behind; here the Lexus LS 500 again tops the list. However, the G90 is the slowest car in terms of the 0-60 mph timings.

"The G90 is less athletic than some rivals are, though it’s not really trying to be sporty. It also returns poor fuel economy, but that isn't always a huge concern when driving a large and expensive car." - Cars US.News

When we talk about today’s modern luxury sedans they offer impressive fuel efficiency, but the 2021 Genesis G90 here offers average fuel economy figures, the EPA estimates that the 2021 G90 will get 17/25/20 MPG city/highway/combined in both RWD and AWD drivetrain, talking about the 5.0-liter V8 engine with AWD we will see a downfall in those numbers, 16/24/19 MPG. The Genesis G90 has got a generous 21.9 gallons of fuel tank capacity. When the tank is full, the car can go up to 394 miles in the city and 438 miles on the highway though these figures are not tested practically.
