If you are looking for a robust and workaholic pickup truck for your commercial needs, the 2021 Ford F-350 Super duty might be your ideal companion. After its second-gen update though in 2017, the F-350 Super Duty has remained mostly unchanged and that's not a bad thing. It might not be as armed as some of its updated rivals, but the F-350 Superduty compensates that well with its overall discipline and heavy-duty business.

At a starting MSRP of $35,925, the 2021 Ford F-350 Super duty regular cab doesn’t bring any fresh cookie to the platter. However, this muscular pickup insists on staying true to its essence. What we are talking about is some heavy-duty operations. It might not be as overwhelming as its rivals from GMC, RAM and Chevrolet in terms of aesthetics, but its multiple powertrain options and several available configurations, the F-350 Super duty has something for every small commercial need.

Though it misses out on the luxuries offered in its higher trims, you can shop from the numerous available packages. The options though won’t take too long to skyrocket the MSRP. Not only a desirable workhorse but hook the offroad “Tremor” package and the Super duty gains enough confidence to tame any expedition. Coming soon towards the end of 2020, the 2021 Ford F-350 Super duty would certainly continue to delight us with its reliability, capability, practicality and value.

2021 Ford F-350 SuperDuty Pricing and Features

9.0/10

Though the complete F-350 range comes in six different trims, the F-350 Super duty regular cab has just two trims on offer, the XL and XLT. However, this 2-door monster truck can be had from a set of available configurations. You can either get your F-350 Super duty with a single rear wheel or double rear wheel as well as RWD or 4WD. However, for the optional 4WD, you will need to shell out extra $2800.

Being the entry point to the F-350 forte, the Super duty may not be as rich in features as its larger siblings, but for its class and price, it's a neatly packed truck. Essentials like heated mirrors, 4-speaker audio, air-conditioning and cruise control are all part of the F-350 Super duty’s armament.

2021 Ford F-350 SuperDuty Maintenance, Reliability and Warranty

Pioneer in making SUVs and pickup trucks, Ford as a brand is considered to be one of the most reliable in the business. With their trustworthy build quality and average maintenance and repair costs, Ford trucks offer a great value for their price. The 2021 Ford F-350 Super duty is no different. In line with its credibility, the 2020 Ford F-350 series received 86 points in the J.D Power ratings. These figures are certainly impressive for a heavy duty vehicle like the Ford F-350.

Talk about the cost of ownership and the Ford F-250 AND F-350 are reported to be on the same page. These monstrous machines cost around $8000 - $9000 annually including fuel, taxes, maintenance and repairs. Apart from the depreciation value in the first year for sure. However, owing to their American flavor, high market demand and robust build, the F-series trucks don't depreciate as much as some of its rivals.

Warranty

In terms of warranty, Ford offers a pretty basic and general warranty on the 2021 F-350 Super duty regular cab. The truck comes with a 3 years/36,000 miles limited warranty and a 5 year/60,000 miles powertrain warranty.

Criteria

Period

Limited Warranty

3 years / 36,000 Miles

Powertrain Warranty

5 years / 60,000 Miles

No big things here and the warranty coverage is similar to most of its rivals. Disappointingly, the F-350 misses upon the complimentary maintenance offered by Chevrolet on their models. Nothing to worry as a customer though since Ford enjoys a very good dependability with its lineup of trucks and SUVs.

2021 Ford F-350 SuperDuty Buying Advice

We would suggest picking up the base 2021 Ford F-350 Super duty XL and club it with the optional 4WD. Not a premium stuff at all, but the base XL offers good returns for its price. You will need to compromise a bit with creature comforts and other stuff, but leisure is not what you get a F-350 Super duty regular cab for.

How about a used Ford F-350 Super Duty Basic Regular cab?

We won’t particularly suggest buying a used F-350 Super duty. This is for the fact that owing to their heavy-duty tasks, these trucks do depreciate more than your regular everyday sedan or crossover like the Ford Escape. Another thing is that the updated second-gen F-350 is more powerful and better loaded than its first-gen.

Interestingly, it is also much more compliant on the road than its predecessor. While you can get a 2017 model F-350 because that's the year it was updated, marking its second-generation. Because of a recent 3-year model, you would probably be ending up paying a price not too far from the MSRP of a brand new 2021 Ford F-350 Super duty regular cab.

2021 Ford F-350 SuperDuty Engine and Performance

9.0/10

On the power front, the 2021 Ford F-350 Super duty regular cab retains its familiar 6.2-liter V8 that makes 385 hp and 430 ft-lbs of torque. Disappointingly, the new 7.3-liter V8 introduced for 2020 stays away from the F-350 Super duty regular cab even in 2021. However, hooked to a 10-speed automatic transmission, the standard V8 is a heavy-load motor.

Kick start the F-350 Super duty regular cab and you are instantly greeted by a steady wave of torque. The engine has a thumping mid range and quick highway passings are no fuss at all. The 10-speed auto does feel precise and smooth and always feels in the right gear as well.

Compared to its rivals, the 2021 Ford F-350 Super duty regular cab has the least power. However, you will never feel the power drop while moving this beast around the highway. Not only that, the F-350 also has better towing and payload capacity than its rivals. Couple the F-350 Super duty regular cab with dual rear wheel and 4WD and this monster can tow up to 15,000 lbs and carry a payload of 7850 lbs.

2021 2021 Ford F-350 Super Duty Basic Regular cab Acceleration And Braking Performance

Not ideal for straight-line drag races with their massive body but the beefy engines powering these super trucks can unfold their reserves when needed. Talking about the 2021 F-350 Super duty regular cab, it can sprint to 0-60 mph in just 7.3 seconds. This acceleration is surely overwhelming for a vehicle that weights nearly 6000 lbs. Not as thrilling as an Explorer ST for sure but push the F-350 Super Duty regular cab from start and it gains very healthy and strong momentum in very linear fashion.

If you are impressed with the F-350 Super duty regular cab’s acceleration figures, well, it's not the quickest in the lot here. That crown rests with the Silverado 3500 HD which does the sme task in just 7.0 seconds. Thanks to Chevy's powerful engine and an even weight distribution.

2021 2021 Ford F-350 Super Duty Basic Regular cab Ride and Handling

Out on the roads, the 2021 Ford F-350 Super duty regular cab instantly reminds you, what it has been made for. Its tall and long body along with a stiffer architecture, the F-350 does feel wobbly when unladen but things change pretty quickly when you fill up its shoes. Even when fully loaded or carrying a heavy trailer, the F-350 feels very calm and composed without any dip in energy or enthusiasm.

When loaded, the suspension aligns itself very well to road undulations and potholes are dealt with great precision. For its size and mass, the Super duty is surprising in the way it keeps cabin vibrations and road noise under check. Though the steering wheels lack directness but its precision does allow the driver to easily maneuver this large truck.

2021 Ford F-350 SuperDuty Fuel Economy

6.0/10

For a strong and capable workhorse like the 2021 Ford F-350 Super duty regular cab, you don’t really look at the economy figures. However, for those a bit concerned about the frugal side of things, the Superduty does offer a 16 combined mpg. Not the best in class though, but the F-350’s efficiency here is certainly better than Ram 3500. On the sad part of things, the F-350 also has the smallest fuel tank in the class which accounts for the smallest driving range.

Among the competition here, the Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD shines again with its best in class 19 combined mpgs. Not only that, a class-leading 63.5 gallons of fuel tank also allows the Chevy to stay on the loop longer than its major rivals.

2021 Ford F-350 SuperDuty Interior

9.0/10

On the inside, the 2021 Ford F-350 Super duty regular cab remains the same as its 2020 model. The cabin is as minimal as it could get in a truck today. You do get a tall and upright dashboard which is nothing less than a plasticky paradise. If you are looking for the leather sprinkling as on a Silverado or Ram 3500, you are only going to be disappointed. Also being an entry to the F-350 family, the F-350 Super duty regular cab misses on the niceties which its other siblings like the F-350 Super cab enjoy.

2021 Ford f-350 superduty regular cab dashboard

Base models get a vinyl upholstery with manual seat adjustments and the higher XLT model just adds a dece,mt cloth upholstery to the table. The seats are wide and nicely padded though but they don't quite offer the same comfort as the Ram 3500. The seating position is high though with a very good all-around view. Disappointingly, no leather upholstery like the “Lariat trim” offered with other models of the F-350 series.

Though it might be notch behind its rivals in terms of interior vibe, the F-350 Super duty regular cab does have a spacious and airy cabin. Headroom and legroom is ample and taller occupants would have no complaints to lodge. Surprisingly though, it's not the roomiest among its rivals in terms of pure mathematics. The Silverado 3500 HD again aces past its other two rivals here with its best in class headroom and legroom.

How’s the 2021 Ford F-350 Super Duty Basic Regular cab infotainment system?

As simple as the 2021 Ford F-350 Super duty regular cabs cabin is also its infotainment suite. Other than the base XL model’s 4.2-inch display, every F-350 Super duty model comes with an 8.0-inch touchscreen display. The screen is not as bright and sharp as the Ram 3500 but has an easy to use interface and is also pretty good in its responses.

As far as connectivity is concerned, the XLT comes standard with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, 5-speaker audio and a WiFi hotspot. Through optional equipment, you can also get a 10-speaker Bowers and Wilkins audio and Satellite radio. Below the infotainment screen, you also get physical control for climate settings and other shortcut buttons for ease of access. The higher XLT model also gets steering-mounted cruise and audio controls for added convenience.

2021 Ford F-350 SuperDuty Exterior

8.0/10

On the exterior front there are no updates and the 2021 Ford F-350 Super duty regular cab boasts its same familiar exterior silhouette. Its exterior design is almost identical to that of the F-250 Super duty and we quite like its bad guy stance.

2021 Ford f-350 superduty regular cab third quarter view

Up front you still get a large grille dressed in chrome which intersects the headlamps. The upright and tall hood combine beautifully with its aggressive face flashing its muscle and temperament. On the side you have chunky body-colored wheel arches with side air-intakes as well. At the rear, you have a similar affair of plane-jane tail lamps along with some chrome-garnishing.Grab the off-road centric package though and the F-350 does intensify its prowess with chunkier off-road wheels and a lift-kit.

Among the competition though, things are pretty identical when it comes to exterior presence. All the rivals here have a similarly sized body and are equally aggressive and intimidating with their presence. However, owing to its extra chrome treatment and large front grille. However, exterior attire is always a matter of subjectivity.

2021 Ford F-350 SuperDuty Safety

7.0/10

On the safety front, the 2021 F-350 Super duty regular cab doesn’t compromise, despite being a tad lower in terms of tech and creature comforts. Though the F-350 Super duty has not been rated by IIHS or NHTSA yet, the similarly based 2021 F-250 Super duty did score a 4-star rating in NHTSA crash tests. We do hope that when tested, the 2021 F-350 Super duty regular cab would also acquire similar ratings. Thanks to its robust architecture and a handsome suite of safety technology, some of which are mentioned below:

Safety Features:

  • 4-wheel ABS
  • Traction and stability control
  • Pre and Post-collision safety system
  • Dusk sensing headlamps
  • Blind spot monitor
  • Lane keep assist

2021 Ford F-350 SuperDuty Competition

2021 Ford F-350 Super duty Regular Cab Vs Ram 3500 HD Regular Cab

Compared to the Super duty, the Ram 3500 HD has a bit more menacing face and is better equipped with standard fitment. The Ram also has a more upscale and modern cabin layout with better creature comforts than the F-350. However, the Super duty here does gain points with its better cabin space, more towing and payload capacity as well as comparatively better driving manners.

Ram 3500 HD Regular Cab

2021 Ford F-350 Super duty Regular Cab Vs Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD

Things are again pretty same in the comparison test of the F-350 Super duty and the Chevy Silverado. The Chevy is more pleasing on the inside, is bvetter loaded with tech and modern-day gizmos and is also more efficient than the Super duty. However, the F-350 aces ahead of the Chevy in terms of ride and handling and better workload capacity.

Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD

2021 Ford F-350 SuperDuty Final Verdict

8.4/10

If you are looking for a great midsize pickup truck for your small business needs and you are trying to concentrate on maxximum workload, the 2021 F-350 Super duty Regular Cab could be your perfect companion. It might loose on some necesiities of its rivals, but it provids a very good overall package. It is easy to manuever on the go, has a powerful engine, offers good cabin and bed space and has a payload and towing capacity better than its rivals.
