Getting the title of the most popular truck in the States isn’t an easy task, especially when trucks are one of the preferred vehicle types here. No matter how difficult, the F-150 overcame all challenges to become one of the most sought after trucks in the market today. The F-150 didn’t manage this overnight. Ford has been selling it since the 70s. It has been hard at work to prove its worth to us ever since. Today, the 2020 Ford F-150 holds the crown, having the most sales in the market for its class.

The F-150 SuperCab is the name Ford has given to its double cab. It comes with a plethora of engine options, giving the buyer to configure the truck according to their own usage. The F-150 SuperCab is built top to bottom to be robust and enduring. It can easily overcome any challenge thrown at it.

Competing with the F-150 are its long time rivals, the Chevrolet Silverado and the GMC Sierra. In the past, the F-150 has beaten them fair and square, but it’s not going to be the same this time around. Let’s see how the F-150 performs.

2020 Ford F-150 SuperCab Engine and Performance

9.0/10

Ford has been making trust, reliable cars for decades now. The Ford F-150 pick up isn’t any different. The 2020 F-150 comes standard with a 3.0L V6 engine making 250 horsepower and 440 lb ft of torque.

2020 Ford F-150 SuperCab engine

The engine is paired with a 10 speed automatic transmission. Together, both the engine and transmission make the F-150 capable of a decent punch.

While the F-150 still has the most power, it isnt the undisputed king it used to be. The Silverado and the Sierra have caught up. While the engine the F-150 uses still makes the most power, its competitors manage more torque.

2020 Ford F-150 Suoer Cab 0-60?

Despite its heavy weight, The F-150 manages a decent acceleration, reaching 60 mph in around 7.5 seconds. The engine and transmission work well together to make the acceleration smooth and linear.

2020 Ford F-150 SuperCab hits 0-60 mph just in 7.6 sec

Gear shifts are quick and gear ratios are totally apt for a truck like this. Wide gears and ample torque handles any driving scenario well. Engine braking is a little less.

The Silverado and the Sierra have surpassed the F-150 in acceleration. However, they are just a fraction of a second faster, and in real life, one might not even notice the difference.

How well does the F-150 handle?

Expecting a truck as big as the F-150 to be sluggish won’t be too far fetched. However, it is anything but. The F-150 handles well for its weight. It makes precise and quick turns thanks to its accurate steering.

2020 Ford F-150 SuperCab side view

The steering isn’t able to give an idea of the grip the truck has but is able to communicate the tire placement well. Obviously body roll is present, but the suspensions are well tuned to handle them, minimizing its effect a lot.

2020 Ford F-150 SuperCab 60-0?

For a truck with such tremendous power, braking needs to be on point. Thankfully, the F-150 doesn't disappoint. While its braking performance might be slightly inferior to its competition, its braking modulation is in fact the best in class.

2020 Ford F-150 SuperCab brake rotors

The brake pedal is firm but just enough to provide a confident feel to the pedal. Dead travel isn’t excessive.

As said above, if the F-150 has the best modulation, its braking performance is slightly inferior to its competition. The Silverado takes the podium here, with the Sierra closely following suit. This makes the F-150 the last of the bunch.

How much can the F150 haul?

It might lack at certain places, but when it comes to towing capacity, the F-150 is undefeated. With the amount of power it has, the F-150 managing 11800 pounds of towing capacity is impressive. Its payload capacity is impressive too, but might not be the class best.

As said above, the F-150 is the class leader in towing capacity. Its payload capacity falls behind the class though. The Silverado and the Sierra have the exact same towing and payload.

2020 Ford F-150 SuperCab Fuel Economy

8.0/10

Having a smaller engine helps the F-150 fuel economy. Managing 19 mpg in the city and a whopping 25 mpg on the highway is impressive for a ruck this size. The Auto Start/Stop technology this engine is equipped with will further improve the fuel economy in a dynamic way. Better fuel economy paired with a sizable fuel tank gives the F-150 a decent amount of range between fuel ups.

2020 Ford F-150 SuperCab Interior

9.0/10

The interiors here are easy on the eyes. It shares the same layout as others in the class but has a better build quality than some of them. The interiors are sober. Nothing too flashy, but still manages to feel new and keep people engaged.

2020 Ford F-150 SuperCab front seat

Even an average sized adult needs to put in a certain amount of effort to climb into the cabin. However, once in the cabin, everyone will be very comfortable. There is no bad seat in the F-150. Wherever you sit, the F-150 will easily accomodate you. The driver seat is equally comfy and provides a very commanding driving position. A steering wheel wil ample amount of tilting ans telescoping angles, 10 way power seats and adjustable pedals make the F-150 a breeze to ride in.

The F-150 might not have a cramped interior with plenty of seating space, but it can’t beat the interior space on the Silverado and the Sierra, at least in the first row. However, the lead the competition has on the F-150 might translate to a real world advantage. That stays true to the F-150’s seat for the second row too.

How in the infotainment system on the F-150?

The F-150 comes equipped with the new and improved Sync 3 system. It’s not as quick as the systems found on its competitors but is very smooth and user friendly. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay come as standard, and the two SUB ports and 12 volt adapter keeps your phone charged throughout.

2020 Ford F-150 SuperCab infotainment system

Native voice control works well for predefined commands but cannot understand natural language well. After connecting your phone, however, its native assistant takes over which makes a world of difference.

How much cargo space does the F-150 have?

Being a pickup truck, there is no shortage of storage spaces in the F-150. Whether it is storage inside the cabin or outside on the cargo bed, all of them have generous space. Inside, storage areas such as the glove box or center storage console are easy to access and provide quite a lot of space.

2020 Ford F-150 SuperCab cargo space

The rear row seats have a compartment under them which is the perfect place to store tools or small luggage. At the back of the truck is the main attraction, however. The cargo bed can be easily accessed thanks to a step integrated in the tailgate. The bed is illuminated, depending on the trim.

The cargo volume of all the trucks in this class are identical. Apart from the added features in the cargo space themselves, they cannot be differentiated. The Silverado has more features in its cargo bed than the F-150, which gives it an edge.

2020 Ford F-150 SuperCab Exterior

8.0/10

We have always felt that the F-150 has the most tamed exterior looks compared to the competition. Well, only if we keep the one of a kind F-150 Raptor out of the equation.

2020 Ford F-150 SuperCab three quarter view

The F-150 has a huge footprint. Its biggest, most obvious characteristic is the giant grille in the front, with two horizontal bars splitting it in the middle. At each end of the chrome or body colored grille splitting bars are the headlights. The shape of the headlights is a unique trait to the F-150. Taillights are similarly shaped. The tailgate incorporates a step to make it easier to climb on board.

The F-150 is the lightest in the class. It also has the most ground clearance. These characteristics make it the best out of the bunch to make offroading, at least when we’re comparing base trims anyway. The F-150 has the most tamed look of the bunch. The Silverado looks a tad bit aggressive in our books while the Sierra is too flashy. While some might prefer the looks on the F-150, to us the Silverado just feels a little more badass.

2020 Ford F-150 SuperCab Safety

9.0/10

The automotive market has now become very keen towards keeping the safety of their vehicles top notch. Customers too are becoming very educated in this very fact. They seek out the top safety features in vehicles. The F-150 is very well revered in this regard. While features like airbags and a backup is common, it also has the following features:

  • Pre Collision Assist
  • Automatic Braking
  • Ford CoPilot360 Safety Suite

2020 Ford F-150 SuperCab Competition

8.5/10

2020 Ford F-150 vs Chevrolet Silverado 1500

In terms of power and price, these two are pretty comparable. The difference begins in how that power is utilized. While the Silverado is slightly quicker and has better braking, the F-150 has managed a better fuel economy. The Silverado gives you better seating space also. Between them, the choice goes to the truck which fulfills your needs best.

2020 Ford F-150 vs GMC Sierra 1500

Since the Silverado and the Sierra share the same internals, the comparison is mostly the same here. However, the Sierra does have a better interior when compared to the Silverado. While the price difference isn’t much, Ford does catch your attention.

2020 Ford F-150 SuperCab Final Verdict

9.0/10

The F-150 is a mixed bag here. While it strives in some areas, it falls behind in others. However, if you look at the scoreboard, it has more going against it than for it. To stay in competition with its rivals, it will need to make some improvements in its overall offering. However, that doesn't mean it's all bad. It still remains one of the most sought after pickups in the market and with good reason.

F150 supercab

Pros - Trailer brake control, cruise control, reverse camera

Cons - Stock headlamps

Various drive modes make it a very good truck in every situation while you are hauling cargo or driving along to destination. Needs a lot of attention when driving in tight situations other than that it is a perfect companion. Just got the trailer brake control and nothing else as they are priced high Dark color seat for less time in cleaning and looks decent even if you dont get them cleaned for long duration Plain basic truck but still looks good being the base trim and not fancy stuff I know it is a safe truck as Ford dont cut corners with safety regardless of the trim you buy. Enough warranty to go tention free and pocket friendly for 3 years minimum Around $40k for this worktruck Need better and friendly people

It's a Ford

Pros - Great efficiency, keyless ignition, roomy interiors

Cons - Nothing bad to talk about here

Features different driving modes for better fuel efficiency or throttle response based on what I would need at any given point of time. Keyless entry is a very innovative feature. This is the time I have it in my car and I love how you don't have to worry about using your key or even getting it out of your pocket. Despite it being a super cab, it still feels refreshed and roomy on the inside including the space at back. This truck has impressed me with that Ford emblem on the flat black grille at front and aggressive boxy design language Took me a while to get used to all these advanced driver assistance features like dynamic hitch guidance and blind spot warnings. I think I've got it now Didn't give me reasons to not call it reliable $43k of pricing, the features are absolutely endless My Dealership gave me a significant discount and best customer service
