Overall Rating

Making the Ford F-150 SuperCab Raptor as capable is its twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 that produces 450 hp and 510 lb.-ft. torque. All that power is efficiently delivered to all the wheels of this Ford pickup with the help of a ten-speed automatic transmission. Besides these standard accolades, the Ford F-150 SuperCab Raptor gets several Raptor-specific bells and whistles, like modified long-travel suspension setup and off-road tires.

However, what makes the F-150 SuperCab Raptor even more special is the fact that in a market where most trucks, like the GMC Sierra 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado 1500, use a V8 engine the Raptor manages to make more power with a much smaller V6. Also, at a price of $53,205 it is cheaper than the Ram 1500.

2020 Ford F-150 Raptor Engine

7.0/10

In order to satisfy as an able pickup truck that can travel anywhere and tow upto 8000 pounds, the F-150 SuperCab Raptor boasts an engine which powers the Ford GT. So this Ford is also the sportscar of trucks. The 3.5-liter bi-turbo V6 works to produce 450 hp and 520 lb.-ft. torque. Power from the engine travels to all the wheels of this monster via a ten-speed automatic transmission.

Even though the Ford F-150 Raptor gets the smallest engine in this face-off, it’s V8 makes the most amount of power.

How fast is the Ford F-150 SuperCab Raptor?

Ever since its debut, the Ford F-150 SuperCab Raptor has been the inspiration behind several other performance full-size trucks that followed. And even though the present day Raptor replaces the old 6.2-liter V8 with the twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 from the GT, it makes more power than before at 450 hp and 510 lb.-ft. So the 2020 Ford F-150 SuperCab Raptor still rocks as hard as it used to, if not more.

The Raptor’s four-wheel drive unit receives some Raptor-specific tuning paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission which seamlessly communicates with the engine that features Ford port-fuel and direct-injection. So all this pickup needs from you is a simple press of foot on the throttle. Doing so shoots the Raptor off the line with an underwhelming throaty buzz and intimidating acceleration.

As mentioned above, the Ford F-150 Supercab Raptor’s V6 is the smallest in the lineup, yet manages to makes most power. Consequently, it is much faster than all other pickups.

What about the braking performance of the Ford F-150 SuperCab Raptor?

All four wheels of the 2020 F-150 SuperCab Raptor come equipped with antilock disc brakes. Plus, the feedback from the pedal is pretty consistent regardless of the choice of driving mode. So stopping under emergency circumstances is never a problem. Also, even after several harsh braking sessions, brake-fade is never an issue on the 2020 F-150 SuperCab Raptor.

The Raptor does take longer than the other pickups in order to come to a halt. However, considering this Ford’s size and weight, its stopping power is adequate.

What about its driving dynamics?

As a versatile pickup, the Raptor gets three major driving modes. There’s the Normal mode, followed by Sport and then lastly, Off-Road. These modes are further divided into subsequent modes which include Tow/Haul, Snow/Wet, Baja, rock Crawl and Mud/Sand. Then in order to match the Raptor capabilities, this Ford gets trim specific independent front suspension, electronic-locking rear differential, off-road Fox shocks, long-travel suspension, a Raptor-specific four-wheel drive unit and a Torque-on-Demand transfer case. So the 2020 Ford F-150 SuperCab can not only go fast, it can go anywhere.

As a city ride, the 2020 Ford F-150 SuperCab Raptor can be a little overwhelming, not for you though. In the Normal mode, the 10-speed automatic transmission of the Raptor somehow always manages to be in the right gear, and the steering and throttle feel light. These factors make navigating the Raptor in cities seem extremely easy despite its size. Also, with heaps of torque available from as low as 3,500 rpm, you simply have to hit the gas once and notice the Raptor’s nose rise as it charges ahead without any hesitation.

But the F-150 superCab Raptor’s natural habitat is far removed from city roads and country highways. In order to release the Raptor’s true potential, find an unpaved trail with dozens of rocks, uneven swings and, if you can wing it, just as many jumps. Being the versatile pickup that the F-150 raptor is, it can alter throttle response, shift timings, steering stiffness, and stability and traction control as well. The biggest irony with this Ford is that the faster you go over roads, and there’s no stopping this F-150 from going fast, the smoother it gets. The nine-stage Fox shocks make up for such a pliant ride, that the only chaos that goes on is in the mind of the person behind the steering wheel.

What about utility?

Any pickup’s true capabilities are revealed not by its ability to travel on all roads, there’s that too, but by the kind of load it can carry. Even in this case, the SuperCab Raptor simply excels. When setup right the 2020 Ford F-150 Supercab Raptor has the potential to tow pretty much anything across anywhere.

In order to make towing seem like a walk in the park, Ford equips the F-150 SuperCab Raptor with another high-tech feature which is the Trail Control. This feature allows you to set a speed and simply steer your way around while the system manages acceleration and braking. The trail Control actively manipulates torque and stopping force sent to the individual wheels with changing terrain. Beat that!

2020 Ford F-150 Raptor Fuel Economy

4.0/10

The smaller V8 that replaces the older V6 works numerous wonders for the 2020 Ford F-150 SuperCab Raptor. The twin-turbo V8 not only makes power than before but also is a little more fuel efficient. Also, the Raptor adopts a lighter aluminum body in an attempt to be as eco-friendly as it is sturdy.

Despite all the power and weight that the 2020 SuperCab Raptor carries, its range is still above average. However, it’s the luxury car of pickup trucks, Ram 1500, that offers most range.

2020 Ford F-150 Raptor Interior

Striking a balance with the 2020 Ford F-150 SuperCab Raptor’s macho exterior and robust performance is its laid-back and spacious interior. The seats are comfortable to say the least. They offer plenty of support and cushioning for passengers. Also there’s plenty of headroom and legroom available all around the cabin. So carrying passengers in this versatile pickup is never a task.

Leather upholstery is standard, but the Recaro seats with blue Alcantara upholstery kick things up a notch. The front seats also gets heating and cooling features. In order to make sure that you are able to get in and out of this pickup just as easily too, the Raptor SuperCab’s rear doors open a gaping 170 degrees. But this utilitarian off-roader pickup from Ford is not without flaws.

As far as visibility from inside the cabin is concerned, it is not as plentiful as the SuperCab Raptor’s performance or practicality. The widened bodywork hampers sight as it’s a challenge figuring out where the body panels end. Otherwise, the cabin is well insulated and feels fairly upscale for a pickup as off-road capable as this one.

2020 Ford F-150 Raptor Exterior

7.0/10

The Ford F-150 SuperCab Raptor is its own league. In order to make the standard F-150 a Raptor-worthy pickup, Ford gives it more than just mechanical upgrades. Even the styling on the Raptor gets redone.

An approaching F-150 Raptor looks like nothing else on the road. The fender arches are even more flared, the air extractors on the hood are all the more enhanced, and between that and rough-and-tough bumpers and skid plates lies the blacked-out grille with big, bold FORD lettering upfront.

The headlights feature a quad-beam LED cluster with daytime running lights. Integrating the aggressive front with the practical rear-end are cast aluminum running boards that stretch along the sides of this Ford. Following those boards takes us to the back of this pickup, which looks duty-appropriate with a collapsible tailgate. The tailgate, also with its “FORD” lettering spread across, is in-tune with the front grille. The entire machismo of this brash pickup is complete with dual exhaust tailpipes under the rear bumper.

2020 Ford F-150 Raptor Competition

Ford F-150 SuperCab Raptor vs. GMC Sierra 1500 DoubleCab AT4

The GMC Sierra 1500 DoubleCab AT4 is one of the best pickups out there. It has a very fuel efficient engine, and also offers best in class towing and payload capabilities. However, the F-150 SuperCab Raptor offers unmatched off-roading expertise, and a much more comfortable cabin. As a pickup, the Raptor’s towing and payload capabilities are just minorly short of the Sierra 1500’s.

Ford F-150 SuperCab Raptor vs. Ram 1500 CrewCab Longhorn

The ram 1500 CrewCab Longhorn has easily established itself as the luxury car of pickup trucks. Nevertheless, the Ford F-150 SuperCab Raptor has a much more spacious cabin. Also, it is significantly cheaper than the 1500 Longhorn. Overall, the F-150 SuperCab Raptor offers much better value for money.

2020 Ford F-150 Raptor Final Verdict

The 2020 Ford F-150 SuperCab Raptor has it all. It is fast, can tow as much as any pickup, and offers the kind of off-roading capability other pickups can only dream of. To top it all off, the raptor also strikes a perfect balance with its cavernous cabin space. There are many pickups out there that do one thing better than the other. However, no other pickup can do all that as well as the 2020 Ford F-150 SuperCab raptor.
