Out of the 5 trims that are there on offer, we think that the base spec trim makes the most sense. It gets a long list of features, priced well, and gets you pretty much everything that you would want in an SUV from this segment. This is the very first model year of the Bronco Sport so buying a used one would be an issue.
"The Bronco Sport effectively imitates its bigger brother, with rugged styling and some trail-rated abilities." - Caranddriver
The 2021 Ford Bronco Sport comes with a 1.5 L, turbocharged, 3 cylinder Ecoboost engine as standard. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission unit and all the trims come with a 4x4 drivetrain configuration as standard. The power plant makes 181 horses and delivers 190 lb-ft of torque, quite some power for a 1.5L power unit.
There is another larger power unit on offer as well. The 2L, turbocharged, Ecoboost 4 cylinder engine makes 245 horses and 275 lb-ft of torque. This engine comes mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and comes with an advanced 4x4 with twin-clutch rear drive unit configuration.
The Subaru Forester is the second-fastest SUV in the competition. The Forester is the only other SUV other than the Bronco Sport that gets all-wheel drive as standard and that helps it to go from 0-60 mph in 8.5 seconds and do quarter-mile in about 16.5 seconds. Of course, the Bronco Sport is the fastest of the lot.

"However, on our 115-mile mixed-driving test route, the Bronco Sport returned an average of 26.6 mpg. That's good considering the EPA's estimate but not very high for the class." - Edmunds
It is in this aspect that the Ford Bronco fails to deliver as per the standards of its segment. However, given its staggering performance that makes up for this aspect, the offering of fuel efficiency by the Ford Bronco isn't that bad either.
With a deliverance of 21 mpg in the city and an mpg of 26 on the highway, the 2021 Ford Bronco delivers as much as 23 mpg as its combined reading. Further, fitted with a 16-gallon fuel tank gives it the edge to deliver an equivalent range as compared to that of the competitors.

Despite being the most powerful car of the lot, the Toyota RAV4 manages to deliver the maximum fuel economy numbers. The RAV4 goes for 26 miles in the city and 35 miles on the highway on a single gallon of fuels and ends up getting the segment's highest combined fuel economy rating of 30 mpg.
"Inside, the Bronco Sport boasts an attractive design and a plethora of popular features. " - Caranddriver
The interiors of the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport can be best described as functional and practical. Ford has built a no-nonsense cabin for the Bronco Sport. To highlight the rugged nature of the SUV, Ford has used durable materials on the inside. Everything seems so sturdy and so robust and that essentially leaves no area to complain. However, the color combination feels a bit dull and we would have appreciated it if Ford had used slightly bright colors on the inside.
The amount of space on the inside is plentiful. The boxy shape of the SUV gives an additional few inches on the headroom which comes in handy for tall passengers. The amount of shoulder and legroom on both the rows of seats is also good and even tall people would not have any problem fitting themselves in. Overall, the interiors of the Bronco are a nice place to be in.

Standard entertainment features offered with the Bronco Sport include Ford’s SYNC 3 infotainment system. The system comes with:
"While its wheelbase is shorter than the Escape, the baby Bronco has an upright seating position and a decent amount of rear-seat legroom. " - Caranddriver
In a world where SUVs are becoming curvy and elegant and adopting aerodynamic shapes to reduce drag for maximizing fuel economy, the 2021 Bronco Sport retains the classic boxy SUV shape and stands out of the crowd. The SUV has a large beefy front end with BRONCO inscribed in the center of the grille. The car has a strong shoulder line with humps on the bonnet and has got large wheel arches.
It looks tough and rugged and intimidating. It has got a commanding stance and sure will turn heads around while driving down the roads. The car looks modern and yet has a retro touch to it and that just reminds you of the legendary old-school boxy Bronco.

The 2021 Ford Bronco Sport has not yet been tested by the NHTSA and the IIHS. With that said, Ford Escape has been thoroughly tested by the agencies and received an overall rating of 5 stars from NHTSA and as the platform is the same, we expect the Bronco Sport to pass the crash tests with flying colors too.
The Bronco Sport comes with lots of standard safety and driver assistance features and we’ve listed some of the key features below
The 2021 Ford Bronco Sport is pricier than the Renegade. In terms of performance, both cars seem to be on par with each other. However, the Bronco Sport looks better and has got a better charm to it. The Bronco is more utilitarian than what the Jeep Renegade is. If you can stretch your budget by a bit, we would recommend you to go for the Bronco Sport over the Renegade.
2021 Ford Bronco Sport vs Subaru Forester
The Subaru Forester is yet another urban crossover SUV. The Subaru is priced less than the Ford and performs better. However, Ford beats the Forester in terms of off-road kit, brand appeal, and utility features. If you ever had to choose between the two, we would recommend you to go for the Bronco Sport over the Forester.

The Toyota RAV4 has long been on the market and has been one of the best-selling vehicles in the segment. The 2021 Toyota RAV4 is cheaper than the Bronco Sport and offers more power and performance than the Ford. In terms of quality and reliability too, Toyota is on par with Ford. The competition is a bit tough here but we still think that Bronco Sport has an upper hand in this competition.
Ford has revived a legend and has done it the right way. The 2021 Bronco Sport is indeed a great proposition and does well on all fronts.
