The word Tributo is Italian for tribute. Adopting design cues from its predecessor and using the award-winning 710hp, 569 lb-ft torque engine as the 488 Pista. The F8 pays homage to the previous generation of the V8 power sports cars from Ferrari. The F8 sits on the same platform as the 488GTB and 488 Pista. The F8 Tributo has a new aero package and its own attributes.

The main competitor for the F8 is the McLaren 720s. Both the cars fall in the same price bracket. The base MSRP for the Tributo is $279,450 while the base trim of the 720s is $299,000. Even the performance figures for both the cars are neck and neck, both have a twin-turbo V8 which produces 710hp and 568 lb-ft of torque. The Tributo is also capable of taking on the Lamborghini Aventador S Despite the Aventador being a price bracket above it. The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera is also a worthy rival for the F8.

2020 Ferrari F8 Tributo Engine and Performance

9.9/10

The engine in the F8 is the latest evolution of the engine code-named F154. Since its inception in 2013, the F154 has won dozens of awards. The twin-turbo V8 is the same 710 hp, engine as the 488 Pista with a minor tweak to the torque curve producing 568 lb-ft of torque at 3250 rpm instead of 3000rpm. The engine note noise has been turned down to meet the EPA norm, but in the driver seat, you will hear the masterpiece of the V8 thanks to the new method of naturally bringing the sound to the cockpit, which Ferrari calls the hot tube resonator.

Whether you are on the road or the tack the power-train puts down power like a pencil to paper easily revving to 8000 rpm and the turbo lag is barely there, making the engine feel like a naturally aspirated one. The dual-clutch 7-speed gear makes the experience even more fun. The intelligent traction control (F1-TRAC) and Ferrari’s new dynamic enhancer plus (FDE+) makes the drive even more fun.

Is it mind-blowingly fast?

The fantastic power-train and the limited-slip diff are able to jet the F8 from 0 to 60 in 2.9 seconds. While sharing the same engine as the 488 Pista the F8 is slightly slower to 60, when we mean slightly, we mean by a fifth of a second. While it may be slightly slower than a track-spec 488 it is the same as its main rival the McLaren 720s. The F8 is even faster to 60 than an Aston Martin DBS Superleggera and on par with the Lamborghini Aventador S

The launch control on the F8 is marvelous. The turbo lag from the twin-turbos is hardly noticeable. The peak torque is only available in 7th gear. Due to this, the acceleration is so linear that you feel like you are driving a naturally aspirated engine.

Is it good at cornering?

The clever electronics on the F8 makes sure that it is a beast both on track and road. With the F8, Ferrari has introduced the dynamic enhancer plus (FDE+). Which makes sure you have the optimum grip, whether it be on the track or on the road. Ferrari claims, the new FDE+ makes the F8 Tributo 6 percent faster than the 488 GTB, and it shows. The flyby drive sheering lacks feedback, which may cause some skepticism, but F8 has a lot more to give than you think.

2020 Ferrari F8 Tributo makes sure that it is a beast both on track and road.

However, F8 is not all business, if you feel like going sideways like a lunatic the F8 is ready to be one with you. Set the driving mode to CT off and you are ready to go. Thanks to the FDE+ and side slip control 6.1 the F8 is capable of going sideways, while still being in control. Through the corners, the car feels more like a small sports car than a 710hp beast. If only the steering wheel had a bit more feedback the f8 will be even more fun.

How are the brakes?

The F8 Tributo comes with carbon-ceramic brakes as standard. At the front, the F8 has 15.66-inch rotors, and at the rear, it has 14.17-inch rotors. The brake system on the F8 is flyby Drive, so the Brake pedal lacks feedback. Nonetheless, the F8 has a truly efficient brake system.

Not much is known about the stopping capabilities of the F8 Tributo, But from what we can speculate. The F8 will be on par with the McLaren 720s and better than the Lamborghini Aventador S and the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera.

2020 Ferrari F8 Tributo Fuel Economy

8.0/10

If you care about the miles per gallon, you won't be driving a Ferrari. No one drives a supercar for the fuel economy, they drive it because of the pleasure or the stature that comes with owning one.

For a sports car, the F8 does decent when it comes to miles per gallon. It does 15 miles in city driving and 19 miles on the highway. Considering that it has 3.9L twin-Turbo V8 the F8 does pretty well. It is also on par with its competitors.

2020 Ferrari F8 Tributo Interior

9.0/10

Same as the exterior the F8 Tributo’s Interior of the Tributo also adopts design cues from the Ferrari’s of the past. The dashboard and the cabin look and feel reminiscent of the 458. It also has 812 superfast style air vents. The cockpit retains the classic driver-oriented looks of the Ferrari Berlinettas. The interior looks a bit outdated because of all the likeness, but it is not a turnoff.

2020 Ferrari F8 Tributo Coupe Front Seats

The F8 comes with bucket seats with Alcantara trim as standard. You get lots of color packages that you can choose from to suit your style. Ferrari is also offering a new human-machine (HMI) interface and an optional 7-inch passenger display.

How comfortable are the interiors?

Ferrari F8 Tributo is a sports car but set the manettino dial (Driving mode switch) to comfort and the car becomes a grand tourer. If you want more comfort set the suspension in bumpy mode, and the suspension becomes more soft and forgiving. The F8 comes with a smaller steering wheel than its predecessor, which makes things more accessible.

If you feel like taking a breather after a track day the car also comes with cruise control and multi-zone air conditioning, so get on the highway and set the cruise control and you can relax a bit. The F8 also has keyless entry, keyless start, and remote trunk release

Infotainment

One doesn't buy Ferrari’s for their infotainment system. That being said the F8 has a minimal entertainment system. There is no apple car play or android auto but it has an audio system to which you can connect via Bluetooth. It has a sat-nav within its instrument cluster. It also has a multicolor rev counter. The F8 also offers an optional 7-inch passenger display.

Cargo

Sports cars or supercars are not known for their cargo space, the F8 Tributo is no exception. If you are planning to take the F8 for a weekend get-away, pack light. The new S-Duct takes up most of the space at the front, so the F8 only has 7 cu.-ft of cargo volume. You will be able to fit a small duffle bag.

Like all Ferrari’s that came before, the F8 is a pretty lady. The design of the F8 Tributo is evocating V8 powered Ferrari’s of the past. The 4 round taillights are reminiscent of the F355 and 280 GTO. It also sits on the same platform as the 488 GTB and the 488 Pista. The F8 has an S-Duct which is pretty analogous to the 488 Pista. The side pots are indistinguishable from the 488 Pista. The Lexan read cover is pretty reminiscent of the F40.

For all the likeness the F8 Tributo shares with its V8 powered brethren. The F8 Tributo has its own identity, the new aero kit on the F8 gives it a more aggressive look. Along the sides, the sharp curves and cress give the F8 a more sculpted look. The back has more cut-outs to aid aerodynamics and a wider diffuser and rear wing giving the F8 Tributo a wider look.

The flat underbody with the new front diffuser and the S-Dust on the F8 Tributo improves the aerodynamic efficiency by 10 percent over its predecessor the 488 GTB. The F8 Tributo’s rear diffuser comes with active aerodynamics, which along with the wider rear wing give the F8 Tributo maximize performance through the corners and the straight. 2020 Ferrari F8 Tributo Competition

Ferrari F8 Tributo vs McLaren 720s

The titans of the formula 1 world are going head to head to see who can make the best sports car. Ferrari F8 Tributo and the McLaren 720S use a twin-turbo V8 engine and both produce 710 hp and 569 lb-ft of torque. On paper, both the cars are on par with each other. On track both the are cars are going to be even as well, but on the road, the Ferrari F8 Tributo has the McLaren 720s beat. The ride in the F8 Tributo is more comfortable and feels more like a grand tourer than a sports coupe. Both Ferrari F8 Tributo and the McLaren 720s fall in the same price category. The Ferrari F8 Tributo is more value for money.

Ferrari F8 Tributo vs Lamborghini Aventador S

The F8 Tributo may not look like a competitor for a Lamborghini Aventador S on first look but don’t let that fool you. The Aventador S has a V12 producing 729hp, but the heavier weight is a hindrance to the Aventador S. Both the Ferrari F8 Tributo and the Lamborghini Aventador S does 0 to 60 in 2.9s. The Aventador S is also bulky and uncivilized. If you are looking to buy a Lamborghini Aventador s we recommend that you consider the F8 as well.

Ferrari F8 Tributo vs Aston Martin DBS Superleggera

When you compare Aston Martin DBS Superleggera to the Ferrari F8 Tributo, the DBS Superleggera is a better car on the road. Nevertheless, when it comes to the track the F8 Tributo will destroy the DBS Superleggera. The F8 maybe a sports car but don’t discount based on that.

2020 Ferrari F8 Tributo Final Verdict

8.6/10

Ferrari has made a sensational car with the F8 Tributo. It is natural on track or on the road thanks to all the electronics, but the clever electronics make it feel like you are not driving a Ferrari. None the less The Ferrari F8 Tributo is an apotheosis to the V8 supercars that Ferrari has made. It is most likely that the successor to the F8 Tributo is going to be powered by a hybrid power-train. The F8 Tributo has earned its name, Tributo!
